All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

aargh! just had a pretty awful couple of hours with DD1 - she's gruesomely overtired and her dad is here, which doesn't help. She said very sadly to me 'I miss you mummy d and I miss mummy r too, very much' :( :( :( :( then we had lots of naughtiness, refusing to eat dinner etc etc. I don't know how to make this better - she likes the baby and is smart enough to realise that she needs to be nice to her. We have done all the things that seem to be the advice - making time specifically to play with her, involving her with the baby's care, keeping her routine going, lots and lots of positive attention (well, other than me losing the plot with her over not eating dinner Blush, clear boundaries etc. Trying to make sure she is gentle with the baby is hard too, because obviously the baby's safety is paramount, but I don't want DD1 to feel pushed away (I put her in the naughty corner for patting the baby too hard on the head - she was very upset, but I can't let her think this is OK under any circumstances)

i suppose it's early days, but I just feel so miserable for her: sorry for long non-running post

monkeyLFDTwench · 14/12/2011 19:19

Oh rhet it IS hard - especially when you're tired yourself. I remember one day trying to bf ds2 and ds1 (who was only 17m at the time) pulling and pulling on my arm, and I yanked my arm away and he fell over Sad. How bad did I feel? But yes I think you are right to set boundaries early on. The relationship between dd1 and dd2 depends on it I think (not to mention your sanity).

futurity have you been taking co-codamol? That gives me the most horrific constipation. Great for pain relief, but I was prescribed it after c-sections and the last thing you need then is to be blocked up!

YeahThatsTheBadger · 14/12/2011 19:19

Thank you fanny. I'll take all the 2-3 bits if you don't mind. DD is 2 but still in some 9-12 months stuff and 12-18 months so the summer stuff will be just right soon.
Let me know when you want the money and pm your details. There's no rush so wait until after christmas.

Bonkers I'm sorry, I'm not sure I could cope with another that age, but i'm definitely not taking fannys. (children, that is.)

Rhet no amazing advice for you, sorry. All I suggest is never backing down from what you say-my 2 are devious and any wavering is leapt upon. Sorry I haven't got a foolproof system. Good luck. It will get easier at some point but for now you just have to put up with the shitness of it all. :(

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 19:30

badger I'll send you the lot! Just postage great, I'll go through it all later and box it up. Have to say, it's all a bit creased as was packed away so you'll have to iron them but smoke free and very clean home so all good otherwise! Wink. Let me know re courier but I do a lot of eBay and use D economy which is no more than £9 so for the amount of stuff, it's a bargain! Sorry, do you want any Crocs and I also have a pair of silver leather Lelli Kelly's which are in great condition, can't remember what size they are, maybe a 6? Again, any good for you?

rhet my lovely, it's very very hard. When DD3 was born DD2 was only 16 months and it was somehow easier than it would be with your gap. Just stay calm, believe me, it WILL pass. She's testing you both and kids are kings and queens of Emotional Blackmail land. Stick to what you're doing. First 6 weeks very hard. Everyone finds it hard to adjust to a new baby.

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 19:30

DHL economy not D

YeahThatsTheBadger · 14/12/2011 19:42

Well I definitely didn't doubt that they would be clean but to be honest i'm a little disappointed that they don't come fully Fanny ironed. ;)
Will take the crocs and shoes too please. Thanks fanny that's great!

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 19:56

badger, believe me, the irons plugged in and if they are too creased, I'll be going over them.... GrinBlush.

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 20:07

Badger - We have 5 coats, 9 dresses, 9 tops/tunics, 3 skirts, 3 jeans, 1 fleece, 2 pairs of shoes and a partridge in a fucking Barbour Coat...Wink Half of it she could wear now or spring as long sleeved tops or tunics. Can't be arsed ironing as only few bits creased. Just washing Gap coat and Bleaching the Crocs GrinGrinGrin

YeahThatsTheBadger · 14/12/2011 20:11

Don't be doing any of that Shock. I'm happy just to get some decent stuff for dd-poor thing wears mostly ds' hand me downs Blush And I have no doubt that your idea of creased is my idea of ironed! Grin Thanks again.x

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 20:27

Well she's gonna have a coat for every eventuality! There's a mac, 2 padded, a padded mac and a white fur one. Blush as you can see, buying clothes a bit of a problem as I can't stop. Anyway all boxed, just waiting for the other bits to be washed then they will be on their way. I'm just glad they've gone to a good home.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 14/12/2011 20:41

Hi all, just popping on again to say that www.wetsuithire.co.uk are having an end of season sale of ex hire stuff ? think a few of you were thinking of doing tris next season but put off by cost of equipment.

Rhet, sympathies with DD1, I have no experience, but imagine it must be really hard. The impression I have from parents of two is that DC2 generally doesn?t get much as much attention as DC1 might have done because the parents are too busy dealing with DC1!

Hopefully a nice man is coming to mend my washing machine tomorrow morning, otherwise might be turning up for Xmas at my parents house with a car full of washing ?

futurity · 14/12/2011 20:42

monkey yes...been taking co-codamel as well and expect that is what is making my tummy swell up. I'm not ...erm..blocked up Blush but things are not right in that department.

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 20:44

futurity sorry your neck no better. Yes sounds like side effects to co-codamol. Sad. Do you have NO idea what's caused bad neck? Do you sleep with window open?

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 20:46

Cherry hope washing machine gets resurrected. Re tri, how anyone can train for one I've NO idea! I take my hat off to you.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/12/2011 20:57

wheely, that's a pretty intense three days of running, probably just as well you have 2 days off! Seren is the Welsh name that means star. Love that name too! I think Arwen means fine and fair.

Rhet, poor you, and poor DD1. She'll be fine I'm sure, it is just a big adjustment for everyone. Hard to believe but there will come a time in the not too far future where she won't really remember there being a time before her wee sister was there. Doesn't make it any easier in the meantime I'm sure. Our DD1 has been ok but bedtimes have been hard, she was going on about being hungry (after teeth brushing), but i knew it was just to delay going to bed. Very difficult when she is crying, but to be fair she was quiet by the time I got down the stairs.

Had lovely day in the park. Both cafe and swing park were mercifully empty due to cold weather!

Going to baby clinic tomrrow for weigh in, will get K registered as new patient and book 8 week checkup for both of us. Must find some to
e to wrap DD1's Xmas presents. fanny, fancy coming round and doing this for me, I bet you're ace at it!

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 21:27

peach actually, DH better than me on wrapping presents. I am neat but not anal about it. The codfish all have their own wrapping paper though and it all looks very twattish. Grin

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 21:28

Kids not codfish! Haha

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 14/12/2011 21:32

Fanny I am thinking of gift wrapping the washing in a Santa sack for my mum. Sweaty sports kit from me and dp and vomitty sheets from ds - she is a lucky granny I'm sure you'll agree

Just watching Barry manolis on royal variety. Bit too much plastic surgery I think

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/12/2011 21:40

God he looks horrific these days eh cherry, really quite scary!

Let DP wrap the present for the pre-school teachers. Looks like he had a fight with it...

Right, it's been at least 10 minutes since I last had a mince pie....

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/12/2011 21:42

Of flipping hell, we're almost out of thread! Is anyone on a puter can do us a new one? Am on phone and don't think I can be trusted with race list!

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 21:46

cherry Grin your mum will be chuffed to bits. Hey do what Debi does and courier it to her before you arrive...

peach oh I'd make him do it properly.... Wink

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 21:47

On phone too plus don't think we're ready for a Fanny thread title again...

futurity · 14/12/2011 21:49

fanny no idea...don't sleep with window open though. My pillow is a bit rubbish (and a bit old) so maybe something went wrong there. It was definitely after I woke up ...think it is just one of those weird things.
Coping ok on the ibroprofen this evening and have the heat pillow thing on my neck which is helping loads..am always amazed how well heat can help in these situations.

Feels so weird not running though but am going to be so sure before I do venture out again as I can't afford for this to linger on into the New Year.

futurity · 14/12/2011 21:50

Eek..out of space on thread ...?
