I need a Shred buddy

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:49

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

Did my first session last night. Very impressed and defo got hot and sticky but not aching today at all. Will go again with level 1 later - not up to doing the full pressups yet so not moving on for a bit!

Am already doing a fair bit at the gym, and planning to add in BMF now the weather's better too.

VivaLeBeaver · 31/03/2011 16:56

Well I haven't been able to do it today - have a bad UTI and just feel like curling in a ball. Will have to do it tomorrow if abx have kicked in.

geordieminx · 01/04/2011 12:31

I have had 2 days off Blush

Wednesday I was in too much pain, and I was skiing yesterday so didn't get chance...

Am off to do now before lunch though.

Brahbrah · 01/04/2011 19:37

I've been doing every other day recently, DD1 has been making it hard by refusing to nap. Level 2 seems much harder, but that could be cos every time I go into plank the blood rushes to my head and I end up bright red. Definitely more out of breath though and I'm back to following Anita, Natalie's stuff looks impossible! She even looks like she's finding it hard.

I found my dvd! Now I have to be brave enough to start it this weekend!

Brahbrah · 02/04/2011 13:20

Excellent KC! Just go for it, I've been so impressed with the results. It's really worth it :)

May I join you? Have just done Day 3, and dare I say it, it felt a teeny bit easier despite the aches and pains!

How long have you been doing Brahbrah and how long was it before you started to see a difference?

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 04/04/2011 09:17

Thanks Brahbah Didn't get started at the weekend (was ill on Saturday and doing mother's day related stuff yesterday) so am currently gearing myself up to Day 1 today.

It's good to hear that it gets a wee bit easier after Day 3 TorianaTollywobbles.

I'm so desperately unfit, I'm quite fearful of what this dvd might do to my poor body!

Brahbrah · 04/04/2011 09:47

I didn't manage it at the weekend either, but will attempt it with renewed vigour this week.

Welcome Toriana, I think it was about a week before I really noticed any difference shapewise, but like you, started finding it easier after just a few days, which is a sign of progress in itself.

Just done day 1. Not sure I'll be able to move or speak for the rest of the day!

TorianaTollywobbles · 04/04/2011 18:32

Keep going Keepcalm! To be honest I did find it harder Day 2 because I was aching from Day 1.

Still waiting for the aching to go completely but is alot better already even after only 3 days. Still on the modified exercises at the moment, can't do a press up to save my life!

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 04/04/2011 19:45

I'm expecting it to be a nightmare tomorrow - my thighs are still a bit wobbly. Determined to carry on though. My biggest problem will be finding the time mid week. I work 4 days per week and am studying in the evening for some exams so I'm a bit short of time. I'm going to set the alarm for half an hour earlier in the morning and see if I can get up. I think if I leave it till later in the evening I'll never get round to it.

How's everyone else doing after the weekend?

MaureenMLove · 04/04/2011 20:58

Oh god! Is it really shred time already? I don't wanna do it! I'm too tired/lazy/hurty/busy/still poorly/got heartburn. All crap reasons, right?

MaureenMLove · 04/04/2011 21:42

OK. In the absence of any comments, I did it!

How long are you lot actually doing it for everyday? Before I tell you how long I can keep it up, without an oxygen tank, I need to know if I'm a wimp or not! Grin

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 05/04/2011 07:08

Well done Maureen! I've just done it(after getting up at ridiculous o'clock). Really tough today but managed the full 20 minutes (very much on the modified versions with a few short breaks).

Brahbrah · 05/04/2011 18:15

Oh I have guilt, haven't shredded since Friday. It's been a hectic weekend including a birthday night out that my already sleep deprived body hasn't coped with very well. I'll be back on with soon though, I promise!

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 05/04/2011 18:41

But for how long? Do you do 20 mins aswell Brahbrah?

My tummy hurts a bit today! Grin My elbow and shoulders are killing me, but I've just realised my tummy is a little sore!

TorianaTollywobbles · 05/04/2011 18:48

what day are you on Maureen? I did Day 4 yesterday and can manage the 20 min workout with a few seconds break here and there. It does get easier, I was completely unfit before starting, did no exercise at all. I don't actually ache today, going for Day 5 after dd in bed.

Keep at it!

TorianaTollywobbles · 05/04/2011 18:51

Maureen just reread and it looks like you are doing a different DVD. I am doing the 30 day shred and the workout is only 20 mins long, so that might be why?

Brahbrah · 05/04/2011 18:52

Yes, I guess your dvd is set up differently Maureen. The shred workouts are all only 20 minutes long. What is yours like?

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 05/04/2011 18:55

Could be. I'm doing the Fat buster/metabolism one. Same excercises I think, just in a different format.

It says on the box, that you can do as little as 6 mins or work up to the whole thing, which is 40 mins.

I'm doing about 20mins at the moment, so on track I think. Beauty is, I can chop and change circuits, depending on what hurts the most! Grin

My big plan is to be able to do all of it, by the middle of May. I'll get back to you on that one though!Grin

I'm expecting a friend to join very soon. She's ordered the 30 Day Shred, so we're going to swop DVD's now and again.

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 05/04/2011 19:30

I've been aching all day! I'm glad I got it out of the way this morning - I'm going to try and do it again tomorrow morning before work. We're all here to be your buddy brahbrah - you have to get back on track! Grin

Toriana, I'm heartened to hear that you don't ache today. I've done no exercise for such a long time and am really unfit, so I'm hoping this gives me a real boost. I possibly shouldn't have had some cake at work today though!

TorianaTollywobbles · 05/04/2011 20:05

I know, Keepcalm, am wanting to lose a bit of weight as well as get fitter, but am still eating too much! Feel constantly hungry at work all day, wish I could find something that filled me up and was healthy.

Is nice not to ache for the first time in a few days, but now am worried I'm not working hard enough!

MaureenMLove · 05/04/2011 22:05

I'm done. Did 20 mins, which amounted to 3 of my circuits. Going to push for a 4th tomorrow night, I think.
