I need a Shred buddy

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

I'm still aiting for my copy to arrive, but with you in spirit until the amazon faries bring it!

tibni · 28/03/2011 11:06

Still here. My disabled ds seems to be heading to a crisis so life is all upside down. Lots of phonecalls and waiting but at least I am experienced enough to now identify problems early and get help.

Will not make it to gym today so I will try and shred. I have been using some of the shred moves as part of my gym sessions as I think they are so effective.

But .... Supermarket calls (or none of us will eat this week)

MaureenMLove · 28/03/2011 16:09

TIBNI - sorry to hear you're having a tough time atm. Hope things improve soon.

Just out of interest, which of the shred moves did you find particularly effective? I seem to ache everywhere, apart from my stomach, which tbh, is the most problematic! Grin

Anyone else got any tips for extra work on particular moves?

Will be shredding later tonight.

Brahbrah · 28/03/2011 18:40

Sorry, missed Sunday as well, but have done it for today. I'm knackered though as dd2 is teething and giving us even worse than normal nights.

tibni - you sound very on top of things despite a topsy-turvy life. I hope you get the help you need very soon.

TIBNI - hope things improve for your DS soon.

Just done Shred this evening, definetly found it harder after having 2 days off! Will be able to do it tomorrow but will have to miss Weds I think.

MaureenMLove · 28/03/2011 21:53

I'm done. I really feel I need to find a routine that targets my stomach though. Why is my stomach the only thing that doesn't hurt? Maybe there's so much fat around it, I can't feel it working yet! Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 28/03/2011 22:15

My arms and legs are starting to look more toned but haven't noticed my flabby tummy looking anymore toned yet. I can feel it aching after the sit ups and crunches though so hopefully it is working even if its more slowly.

I may try doing some leg raises after the DVD to help my tummy more. Thouse ones where you lie flat on your back and lift alternate legs a few inches off the ground and don't take them all the way back to the ground. They really make my tummy ache and are simple to do when you have a spare few minutes.

tibni · 29/03/2011 09:35

Thanks all. Didn't manage to shred in the end, ds was up until midnight unable to switch off. I am very fortunate that the professionals supporting us are very good - yesterday I had the offer of an emengency consultant appointment (despite the consultant being on holiday) and phone support from the community team. Today I am determined to do something, gym, shred or walk.

Re abs - the last exercise on shred is one of the best and one I do at the gym. The Plank is also really good - just make sure you dont stick your bum in the air, keep your abs engaged and hold for a minute. You can also do side planks.

Have a good day all

jenniec79 · 29/03/2011 16:44

My DVD has arrived so once I finish these night shifts I'll give it a bash - plan to start a week today (so time to find some weights too)

VivaLeBeaver · 29/03/2011 19:00

Just done another session. Was easier today than yesterday. Who knows maybe next week I'll be on Lvl 2!!!!! Grin

geordieminx · 29/03/2011 19:09

Hey ladies. Mind if I join too?

I"m on day 2 although have had the dvd months Blush

Hoping to stick to it to ensure I don't get harpooned on the Beach in 8 weeks.

Thighs are on fire.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/03/2011 19:18

Hi Geordiminx and welcome. Where abouts are you going on holiday?

geordieminx · 29/03/2011 19:37

Tenerife. Not very exciting but easy hol with dh and ds (4) and my parents. Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 29/03/2011 20:23

I love Tenerife, would really like to go back.

MaureenMLove · 29/03/2011 20:26

I really am not in the mood for it tonight, but I will do it. 9pm is my time, so I'm gearing up for it.

Going to concentrate on my stomach tonight. Can't see much improvement anywhere tbh, but it's only been 6 sessions. I do hurt rather a lot though! Grin

My holiday is in August (and the all important 20th wedding anniversary) so I've still got time!

MaureenMLove · 29/03/2011 21:49

I did it. Still not convinced it's doing anything though!

Brahbrah · 30/03/2011 10:09

Are you out of breath and knackered at the end of it? Because if you are, it's doing something at least. I've stepped up to level 2 today as level 1 was starting to feel a bit easy (didn't think I'd ever say that at the beginning!)

I found my stomach was the first place I noticed improvement, but dd2 is only six months old so my abs were somewhat destroyed when I started. Definitely much flatter now though.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/03/2011 11:22

Brahbrah - how much harder is Lvl 2? I've read horrible things about planks and burpees?

I'm still not finding Lvl 1 easy though so think I need to stay there a bit longer. Its easier as I can get through it without resting but I still feel I'm going to die. Grin OK, maybe not die but it knackers me.

anabelish · 30/03/2011 11:51

have you started yet? - i just saw this thread and ordered the 30 day shred on amazon a minute ago. looks scary!

VivaLeBeaver · 30/03/2011 11:54

Anabelish - most of us have started but only in our first or 2nd week. Jenniec79 isn't starting it till next week.

MaureenMLove · 30/03/2011 17:46

Oh I'm definately out of breathe and thinking I can't go on! Grin

I don't think I'm doing the same DVD as you guys. It is Gillian Michaels, just not 30 Day Shred one. It's called Banish Fat - Boost Metabolism, so I'm sure it's doing the same thing. I certainly know what a burpee is! Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 30/03/2011 21:41

No, the banish fat one is different to 30 day shred. I'm sure I read it was harder. Grin

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 30/03/2011 22:03

I haven't started yet either Anabelish! I ordered it from Amazon a while ago and now can't find it Confused. I've added it to my lovefilm list as a high priority but unfortunately they've sent out inception this week instead.

I'm still reading the thread so I'm inspired to get started when I finally have a copy to use! I've got a lot of big family gatherings and things to look forward to in the summer which I don't want to be spoiled by me feeling too fat to look nice in anything.

VivaLeBeaver · 30/03/2011 22:04

I think its only £3.99 at Play.com.

MaureenMLove · 31/03/2011 16:32

Ah Viva, I'm 'ardcore, I am! Grin

Ah well, as we've said, I ache, I'm sweating when doing it and I can't breathe when I've finished, so I'm moving in the right direction! Grin
