I need a Shred buddy

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:49

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

Oh, I've had the bloody thing for ages! Got it from Love Film. I'm just too scared to give it a go. Not sure my pelvic floor can take it. Plus I need to find some weights and my yoga mat...there's always an excuse!

Brahbrah · 23/03/2011 10:52

Welcome new faces by the way. Bumper - you won't know me but we were pregnant at the same time , you were a week or two ahead of me and you kept starting the threads I wanted to, so you may have noticed me stalking you around the boards as my previous name wem.

But now, a stern talking to, sod the excuses and get on with it! (It's not that scary really, just all motivational and stuff)

Can I join in? Just done Day 1 and feel all shaky and feeble. A little bit like after child birth, actually, but without the baby. DH has been teasing me about it all day and even came in to watch me embarrass myself. Blush

I only used cans of kidney beans (Grin) as my weights - what is everyone else starting off with?

Tell me it will make a difference quickly.....

wigwam1973 · 24/03/2011 09:30

Oops, just read the whole thread so have answered my own question re: weights. Will try to nip in to Argos today.

Well, the good news is I'm (surprisingly) not too achy today. Think this is because
a) using tins of kidney beans rather than proper weights
b) not doing exercises correctly. I can't even do the easier version of the push up Blush, and as for the last abs exercise at the end when you're doing the cycle legs bit, well, it's impossible, surely? Or is it just me...

Bad news is that my stomach feels more rounded and prominent than ever before! Gah - was expecting it to miraculously flatten overnight, but no such luck.

I'm aiming for 8pm this evening. I'll then reward myself with some rubbish on telly, while the shaking subsides.....

WhoWhoWhoWho · 24/03/2011 09:59

I actually changed my mind yesterday and did it Shock and I've done it again this morning! Quite proud I never stick to anything but i'm determined today.

I am veerrry slowly improving on the simplified pushups - I'm such a weakling Blush

WhoWhoWhoWho · 24/03/2011 10:00

I got the davina set of weights from argos, using the .68kg ones Grin

MaureenMLove · 24/03/2011 17:24

Didn't do it last night I'm afraid. I had a migraine and came straight in and went to bed.

On the up side, it meant I didn't go to the pub, as planned, and have a drink! Grin

I'll be right back on it tonight though.

Brahbrah · 24/03/2011 18:06

Good work Who, it's a good feeling when you surprise yourself like that isn't it?

Sorry to hear about the migraine Maureen, shame you missed a night out too.

I haven't had a chance to do it yet today which means I'm going to have to fight the urge to collapse on the sofa when the dds are in bed. And it will have to be in the presence of DH too, though maybe I can banish him to the kitchen to do the washing up :)

Am about to start! See you on the other side! Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 24/03/2011 21:31

Can I join in please.? I'm at about the same stage as you, just done Day 2 today. I did get to about Day 10 before but have had a 7 week break following an accident.

I am finding it easier this time than last time so maybe my body is kind of rememebring it all a bit.

I can't decide whether to do it tomorrow or go to a new Zumba class in the village hall instead.

MaureenMLove · 24/03/2011 22:15

I struggled tonight tbh! I wasn't nearly as sweaty (sorry TMI!) as I was on Tuesday, but I don't think that was because I'm used to it already. Think I didn't work so hard.

It may be because I hurt! Grin I'm a bit worried I'm hurting in places I shouldn't be and I'm going to hurt myself proper!

I'll do it earlier tomorrow and see if the time of day makes a difference. I might also move on to a set that works my tummy, to give my legs a bit of a rest.

Has everyone got a goal? It might be a good idea to think of one, other than just losing weight. My aim is to fit in my wedding dress again! We will be married 20 years in August and it has fitted me every year since! Not this year though. I tried it on a few weeks back and it's not good!

Welcome Viva Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 24/03/2011 22:18

Maureen - I normally find it easier if I exercise in the morning.

My goal is to lose a stone and fit back in my nice Gap jeans.

MaureenMLove · 24/03/2011 22:28

Can't do mornings! I start work at 7am, which would mean starting to exercise at about 5.30am!! I love mornings, but that's too early even for me! Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 24/03/2011 22:47

Ah, maybe not then! Grin

tibni · 25/03/2011 08:31

Didn't do yesterday but I did go to the gym. Had intended to fit the 20mins in after I got in from work at 8.30pm but I got a better offer (ds with severe ASD and learning difficulties wanted to read his book to me and cuddle - an offer that I couldn't refuse).

Going to the gym this morning to put another decent run in (4 times this week). Sorry if I don't seem as commited as the rest of you but I don't want to shred at expense of the gym but to compliment it.

Hope you all have a good day.

VivaLeBeaver · 25/03/2011 19:02

Well today I've done a brisk hour long walk and done Shred again. Found it harder doing the bicep curls and lateral raises today as my arms are still aching a bit from yesterday.

Really don't think I'm going to have chance to do it over the weekend as I have a houseful of visitors and a big family party.

MaureenMLove · 25/03/2011 19:31

I'm done until Monday now too. Got a heavy friends gathering for most of the weekend!

I've done two curcuits today and it certainly worked up a sweat this time!

Have a good weekend everyone. Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 25/03/2011 21:54

Yes have a good weekend.

Brahbrah · 26/03/2011 14:21

Whoops, missed Friday, but have just completed it for today.

I don't have any set goals. I've got a wedding to go to in a couple of months with a bunch of university friends, none of whom have had children yet so are still all young and gorgeous, so a vague goal would be look fabulous for that :)

Still ill here. I'm letting the side down, but hope to get started tomorrow. On the plus-side, all of this nursing/ convalescing has given me the opportunity to exercise my fingers on MNet Grin.

Well done all those who've actually got started.

MaureenMLove · 26/03/2011 18:19

Oh poor you. Here's hoping you'll all be better tomorrow.

I managed to sneak another session in today, afterall, so I'm pleased about that.

MyDingaling · 27/03/2011 11:46

Well I have well and truly been rubbish. Only did day 1 and 2 and then no more. I am going to treat that as a warm up for the real thing and then start
properly when the holidays start at beginning of April.
Well done to everybody though who are still going!

WhoWhoWhoWho · 27/03/2011 13:53

I have hurt my back lifting DS Sad

Well done to all who've been shredding

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 27/03/2011 17:49

Am quite envious to those of you who have started - been tidying up loads this w/e and have no idea where my recently purchased DVD is.

Might see if I can add it to my lovefilm list for now rather than buying another copy!
