I need a Shred buddy

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:49

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

I'll join you, if I can just find the blasted thing!

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:59

Excellent. Now, let's help you find it. Where did you last see it?

I looked at myself in the mirrow last night and tried on a pair of newly bought trousers, in a size bigger that I usually buy and they looked shit, in a word!

Quick as a flash, I got on Amazon and bought the DVD. It should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday, so I will definatelly join you!

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 14:28

Brilliant (at more buddies, not looking shit in the mirror)

For the ten days I was doing it I definitely could see/feel a difference. Then I stopped and started using free time to eat cake instead of shredding and it all went wrong.

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 20/03/2011 14:32

Me too! I didn't start the Shredding, but I started eating really well. I was so thrilled with the fact that I was the right side of 11 stone, I rewarded myself!

I'm going to be doing it ridiculous o'clock! I start work at 7am, so the only time I can be assured of my family not laughing at me, is before work!

Think of me, when I doing it, probably at about 5.30am! Shock!

nigglewiggle · 20/03/2011 14:45

Found it! It was in the cupboard - under the crisps and chocolate biscuits Wink. No excuses now!

HairyMaclary · 20/03/2011 14:47

Oh Brahbrah I got to the same stage! Day 10. I then stopped for a week and did 3 days of level 2 and haven't done it again. I would love to though and really enjpyed it but have no self motivation.

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of level 1 again, maybe 5 days? I'm happy to do all 10 though.

I may need a kick up the backside every so often though!

MaureenMLove · 20/03/2011 14:51

My self control is completely shit!

I really, really need you!

DH has lost 4 stone in the last 18 months and whilst I've never had a problem with my weight, I hit 40 (3 years ago) and I struggle now. It's a completely new thing for me.

DH keeps getting compliments and I don't like it! I need to do this. I'm counting on you to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 17:52

Right then, I'm starting again tomorrow with level 1. I expect to see you all check in at some point to say you've done it. Except Maureen who has a free pass til the DVD arrives. Not sure how long I'll stay on level 1, I was getting a bit bored of it, so 5 days sounds about right rather than than the full 10. Y'all can move up whenever you like though, of course.

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 17:55

Nigglewiggle, I'm impressed you found the DVD under the snacks. I'd have got waylaid by the chocolate.

OP posts:
nigglewiggle · 20/03/2011 18:04

Well, I had to eat my way through 10 packets of crisps and 15 chocolate biscuits before it miraculously appeared Grin.

See you tomorrow!

MyDingaling · 20/03/2011 18:04

I'll join you too!
I am very unfit and overweight so I am not looking forward to this, however, I have decided to not put it off any longer and I am going to start tonight after DDs have gone to bed!!
I will check in tomorrow and tell you all how it was - wish me luck!!!

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 18:27

Good luck MyDingaling. Day 1 hurts.

OMG Just finished, feel like death. My arms are shaking, think I am going to be in agony tomorrow.

nigglewiggle · 20/03/2011 21:42

la la la la la la

MyDingaling · 20/03/2011 21:46

Sorry niggle!
It was easy really Wink

Brahbrah · 21/03/2011 07:40

Well done MD! Hope you can move those limbs this morning. I'm afraid I've got my excuses lined up and ready to go, would you like to see them?

1: Toddler has d&v bug
2: 6 month old has d&v bug
3: DH has d&v bug
4: I have d&v bug
5: As a result of excuses 1-4 I got about 3 hours sleep last night.

I'm very sorry, but my new era of shred will have to start tomorrow. I hope you are all getting a better shot at it.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 21/03/2011 07:52

Oooh can I join in too please? Today will be my very first ever day of doing it. I'm going to take DS to school then come home and get on with it without giving myself a chance to change my mind. I have my new 'extra high impact' sports bra on at the ready. Grin

I don't 'do' excercise so I know it's going to kill me. Hmm

WhoWhoWhoWho · 21/03/2011 13:12

Well I may have killed the thread but I survived my first shred session {proud}.

I need an excercise mat, will have to get one tomorrow.

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 21/03/2011 13:18

Today was going to be my first day, but I can't find the dvd.

MaureenMLove - I've worked out that the only time I could really do it would be at ridiculous o'clock too! So not only do I need the motivation to start shredding (once I find the dvd) I also need motivation to get up at the crack of dawn Hmm

MaureenMLove · 21/03/2011 15:42

No DVD yet, but I'm hopeful for tomorrows post. Will start in ernest on Wednesday morning.

Hope you're all feeling better soon Brahbrah. Smile

tibni · 21/03/2011 16:16

Just spotted this thread and am thinking I really should be brave and join.

I do work out at the gym but since January my work hours have increased and I struggle to get to the gym at the end of the week. I thought the shred would help with tone but I have been putting off starting it (there never seems a good day if I am going to be in pain the next day).

So if you don't mind I could do with some encouragement/ support/ kicking! Do you think I am best just going for it every single day (is this managable alongside my gym work?) or just on the days I can't make the gym?

Guess until I have tried I will not know!

Brahbrah · 21/03/2011 20:03

Hello all, feeling much better thanks Maureen.

Well done all who have made a start, I am definitely going to get on with it tomorrow. Feel free to give me a good kicking if I come on here with another pathetic excuse ;)

tibni, don't really know about combining it with gym work, as I've never been a regular gym-goer. I know it's easiest to keep going with it if it's every day, no question. But perhaps if it's set days every week that'll work too.

KeepCalmAndCarryOnMNing · 21/03/2011 20:14

endeavours to have another look for missing dvd tonight

nigglewiggle · 21/03/2011 20:19

Warning excuse coming up....

I'm feeling like crap. DD1 has had a vomiting bug since Saturday and since lunchtime I have started to feel dreadful. I have a bucket on standby, but as going to put the kettle on seems like too much effort, I'm not tackling the DVD today.

I'm off to bed. Will join the midweek starters.
