I need a Shred buddy

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:49

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

I need to lose weight but have no idea what shredding is can someone explain please

MarionCole · 21/03/2011 20:23

Mmm, I could be talked into this. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I don't want to have to buy new clothes. I do want to lose some weight.

Don't have the DVD though, will have to order it from Amazon.

Ohforfoxsake · 21/03/2011 20:28

Can anyone please give me a quick explanation of Shredding? I need something sharpish!

Brahbrah · 21/03/2011 20:35

It's this dvd. A 20 minute work out you're supposed to do every day for 30 days.

Oops, that wasn't meant to be in bold. Still can't find the bloody thing.

MyDingaling · 22/03/2011 06:41

Well after completing day 1 on Sunday, I didn't feel too bad when I got up yesterday.
Day 2 yesterday - it was just as hard as day 1. I have woke up this morning and my thighs are on fire! Struggled to get down the stairs!
I am doing the modified version of the exercises and find them really hard. I am sure that I am not going to be ready to move onto level 2 in 7 days.
Day 3 today so hopefully will legs will loosen up throughout the day so I can Shred tonight!

HairyMaclary · 22/03/2011 08:46

Ok - I've done it today!!!

I didn't come back yesterday because I didn't do it! I've started now so it's non stop from now on (I hope!)

It wasn't quite as hard as the first time I did it but nearly a month of meant it was a bit harder than I expected, never mind - day one complete.

Sorry about all those with D & V bugs or DC with them, not nice - hope you all feel better today and can start shredding!

WhoWhoWhoWho · 22/03/2011 09:27

I've woken up today with major achy thighs!

I am doing the modified versions too MyDingaling, I am a lazy git complete excercise novice. I also have no weights to use at the minute but intend to go buy some (and a mat) when I can get to the shops. WHat weights do u use? Where did you get yours?

DS is off school with a fever and sickness but I'm determined to squeeze my shred session in atsome point today.

Is it meant to be a week and then you move onto level 2? Shock I will be taking a little longer I think!

Brahbrah · 22/03/2011 14:27

I have shredded(ededed)! The DDs gave me a half hour when they were both asleep and I filled it with Jillian instead of tea and biscuits. How virtous am I? It wasn't quite as bad as starting all over again, but still harder than it had been. My abs haven't abandoned me, which is good news.

Well done all on starting/day 2.

I always thought it was 30 days/3 levels, so 10 days on each level. But you can do whatever you like really. You'll be ready to move up sooner than you think though, if only because it gets a bit repetitive after a week or so.

MaureenMLove · 22/03/2011 17:01

OK, the DVD has arrived. No excuses for me then!

I've had a look at it and I think I might start this evening. I need to see how knackered I am, in case it's not something I can manage before work! Grin Also, there is the 'oh, I haven't got time this morning' excuse!

Will check back later tonight, on my first ever bit of proper exercise! Shock Yes, first EVER! I am 43 years old and I have never set foot in a gym, done an excerise class or looked at a fitness DVD before!

This could get messy! Should I maybe tell you when I'm doing it, so if you don't hear from me after an hour, you can call the paramedics for me? Grin

I know whether I'm having a heart attack on not though, I've been on a first aid course all day! Grin

Will check in, before I start. (probably around 9'ish) Wish me luck!

Brahbrah · 22/03/2011 19:56

Good luck Maureen! That first aid course will come in handy

MyDingaling · 22/03/2011 20:11

Well done to all that have stated.
Hope you are ok Maureen!
I am letting the side down today, I am not shredding today because my thighs are sooo sore! I have struggled up and down the stairs in work today.

Whowho, I can't see me being ready to move up to level 2 soon if I am in so much pain after 2 days of the modified versions! My DH had the weights already and i am using a folded up blanket as a mat.

I think I may end up doing the 60 shred because it will take me so long to prorgess through the levels!

MaureenMLove · 22/03/2011 22:57

I did finish round one, some hours ago, but my internet has been down all night, so I've had to resort to my phone, which is bloody hard work!

Anyway, job done. 15mins of hell. Legs like jelly, heart pumping and sweat pouring off me! I WILL NOT be attempting that before work! Looks like 9pm is my time. That said, I've got a meeting - in the pub - tomorrow night! Will do my best to fit it in though!

vicbar · 22/03/2011 23:00

Right Ive done Day one today and it felt good, a bit of pain but good pain. Bet I cant walk tomorrow.

Ill be back tomorrow.

WhoWhoWhoWho · 23/03/2011 08:05

day 3 is not happening for me today ladies, my calves are really painful I just nearly fell down the stairs as they refused to do their usual job!

Well done MML, I don't think i could face it early in a morning. At least on an evening you can do dvd then have a bath or shower and collapse Grin

Ohforfoxsake · 23/03/2011 08:12

Do you need weights too? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks Smile

Bumperlicioso · 23/03/2011 08:20

If I post on this thread I'm going to have to do it aren't I?

WhoWhoWhoWho · 23/03/2011 08:23

I didn't want to buy anything before trying it out Ohfor but now intend to buy some as I feel committed to sticking to it. Other posters have used tins or water bottles as weights.

I need a mat as I have laminate flooring, but have been using a towel for now for the floor excercises.

DS watched me do my workout yesterday (he's been poorly) and he found me hilarious. Hmm

HairyMaclary · 23/03/2011 08:28

Well done everyone - it's a bit of a shock the first day isn't it Maureen!

I've just done day 2 - feeling good! Not helped by DS2 lying on my tummy every time i lay down to do crunches though!

Good luck to everyone today.

HairyMaclary · 23/03/2011 08:30

I got some cheap neoprene covered 1Kg weights from Tesco. The do the job very well. DH had some old 2.5kg ones that I naively started with - my arms nearly fell off!

Ohforfoxsake · 23/03/2011 09:17

Thank you.
I question my commitment Bumper. I have a gym pass gathering dust here... I will if you will. Have you ordered it yet?

Will PM you for a catch up Smile

Brahbrah · 23/03/2011 09:23

I've got these weights from Argos, but I used a couple of tins of tomatoes until I was sure I was going to stick with it. (The weights are harder!)

Dammit, DD1 is at preschool and DD2 is asleep, I really should be doing it now shouldn't I? I'll just finish my cup of tea...

tibni · 23/03/2011 09:31

Day 1 done!

Didnt shower this morning, brushed hair back, got ds into his school taxi (SEN) and put the DVD on. Took 3 attempts - couldn't find the remote for DVD (thanks ds) and couldn't move on from the intro! Tried putting it on the xbox but had same problem (can you tell I don't get time for games etc) so ended up with it on my laptop.

Found it ok. I was worried as I went to the gym Sun, Mon and Tues so I know I have not got fresh legs. Working later and hope im not going to regret this!

Will also have to take out my 40kg bouncy, young, very strong (pulling my arms out of sockets given half a chance) show lab out for a good walk which I think I need as I thought the cool down wasn't really long enough to prevent aches. Also I am not the most flexible so the splits stretch isn't the best for me.

Those that are in pain - try gentle stretches and just gentle walking (not incline power stuff) to ease you.

Brahbrah · 23/03/2011 10:15

Day 2 done :)

Thanks for the extrinsic motivation shred buddies!

nigglewiggle · 23/03/2011 10:19

We are all sick in the wiggle household Sad.

The DVD is glaring at me from the shelf. I'll hop on the shredding bus, just as soon as I've stopped clearing up sick!

Well done everyone who's got started Smile.
