I need a Shred buddy

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

Ok, have just L2 D4 this morning, I really am a bit crap at it, do EVERYTHING modified, but feel as though my upper body is already responding.

Still have a very lardy belly though. Does anyone have any toptips for dealing with that? Purlease?!

orangina · 25/05/2011 11:23

(Sorry, should read, have just DONE L2 D4.....!)

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 25/05/2011 14:03

Thankyou for the welcomes. Unfortunately I appear to fallen off the wagon before I even got both feet onBlush

I have been on my bike today and I did do some squats and lunges and balancing stuff when I got back but I couldn't face that smiley woman and the stomach crunchesBlush

I could definitely feel it in my legs when I was on my bike, I will do it again tommorrow. I was thinking maybe I should go to Level 2 as my legs didn't hurt much yesterday but given Chickens reaction to L2 maybe I will just pretend that L2 doesn't existGrin

PatTheHammer · 25/05/2011 16:45

Well done all! Everyone doing really wellGrin

ledkr- bizzarely I rather enjoy exercise on my period, it helps with the bad pains I used to get before I started my 'regime'. The worst time for me I find in terms of energy is the few days before when I just feel a bit lacklustre to say the least!

Well, I am still only managing to fit in about 2 shreds a week with all my other classes. Did it last night but fancied a change so popped back to Level 1 for a bit of variety. Amazing how easy it felt, especially the cardio, found I had to use weights with the cardio to make it hurt a bit. Also used heavier weights on the strength.
I do like the Abs section from level 1 though, I think its the best out of the 3 and whoever was asking about tummy toning, i read something in the paper last week about some study they did into stomach toning exercises. The MOST effective were bicycle crunches and reverse crunches(as in L1) and the least effective were old fashioned sit ups with knees bent (as in L3). Don't think there are any press-ups in L2, can't remember! but that was found to be the best all-round toning exercise for the mid-section. There are certainly lots in L1 and L3 so I would stick to those for tummy toning potential maybe.
I think when I do L3 next I will substitute bicycle crunches instead of those sit ups she does.

Also.............wore a pair of Jeans on sunday that I have not worn since my Honeymoon! So pre-DC and nearly 6 years agoGrin

Good Morning!
Level 3, Day 2. I really didn't feel like getting out of bed this morning as I didn't sleep well. But the thought of posting that as an excuse when I know ledkr has a night feeder shamed me into shredding.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 26/05/2011 09:02

Didn't shred yesterday, but did do two hours of gardening . Back to it tonight.

ledkr · 26/05/2011 09:45

funnyily enough the baby slept all night but i feel less inclined to shred today, will tho for sure. Does anyone find it a bit of abind cos i sweat like a p.i.g. when i do it so always need to shower and dry hair etc,i have spent the last week with unstraightened hair and no make up,hardly looking like im on a health kick haha had a look at l2 just to see what chickens was banging on about and woah!! Not exactly looking forward to that.

Othersideofthechannel · 26/05/2011 11:50

Yes, it's hard to go without washing my hair afterwards and still look presentable for work.
And all that extra washing: I am getting through an extra T-shirt and socks and underwear every day!

One of the exercises in Level 3 is really easy for me(the one where you have a weight in one hand and you squat and move the weight up and down). I feel like I'm having a rest when I do that one. I suspect I should be using a heavier weight rather than catching my breath for 2 mins!

ledkr · 26/05/2011 11:58

Just did day whatever, wow it sometimes feels easier and sometimes not,i too am getting thru lots of sweaty clothes, tried wearing shorts today but the sight of my flabby legs was more than i could bear, gosh its hard tho.

L3D5 completed - missed 1 day, then another 2 since last Friday - brother in hospital (planned operation) but just means more running about! I'm with Pat about the period thing - the first time I missed a day was the night before I got my period (didn't realise as first proper one after stopping BFing) - and I was just exhausted, whereas day of my period I was totally good to go, and it did give me some pain relief :-)

Sweating like a bitch my end! I'm on maternity so I don't have the work problem, and my hair can be made to look a lot less greasy with a bit of baby powder has a flexible style Grin. Think when I'm back at work, it's definitely going to have to be a night time thing, so I can at least get a shower in the morning.

OtherSide - I love that exercise too - I was convinced I wasn't doing it right. Not that I was looking for a better way to do it!

Measuring time again in 5 days - have a hen weekend to go to as well, so have a feeling the improvement might be minimal...

Brianstorm · 26/05/2011 20:01

Oh, and welcome Doyouthinktheysaurus! Very envious of the marathon running, which is my own personal goal - but feel a whole lot better that it didn't make the Shred that much easier Grin

Othersideofthechannel · 27/05/2011 06:02

Level 3 day 3 completed

I think I've made progress on this level but it was difficult to judge properly with DD sitting on the sofa telling me I was cheating whenever I didn't join in with Nathalie.

I too found my period less painful this time round.
My quads are definitely stronger, I can feel it when I moisturise my legs. Can't see anything different elsewhere. Oh and I am heavier than before I started but clothes fit the same. Could it be fat turning to muscle?

Brianstorm, how often are you measuring.

Brianstorm · 27/05/2011 09:21

I've weighed the same since I've started but have lost inches and look and feel more toned - I figured it must be the muscle vs fat thing too! I didn't measure myself before I began, but did on the 10th and 20th days of actual exercise - not just of doing it.

ledkr · 27/05/2011 10:28

Im on mat too but have problem curly hair that needs attention or i look like tina turner-obviously without the rock hard bod Grin
I have lost a couple of ilbs but it coild be natural post baby weight loss Fell like jeans do up better too.Having a rwst today as have aheadache and feel abit down-i may do it later actually to lift my spirits.

Brianstorm · 27/05/2011 11:17

Ach Ledkr, I'll bet you will feel better if you do it. I hadn't said before buy I'm on ADs for PND, and I actually think the exercise has helped more than the tablets so give it a go!

Othersideofthechannel · 28/05/2011 08:59

Level 3, Day 4

Supersal, have you started level 3 yet?

Othersideofthechannel · 29/05/2011 11:11

Where is everyone?

I did level 1 today because it's mother's day here so I thought it would be a good compromise between having a rest and keeping it up. The press ups are still as difficult!

Othersideofthechannel · 29/05/2011 18:11

Ledkr, it's not a failure, just a hiccup!

SuperSal, I'm sure you felt the same thing about level 2 when you started it, didn't you?

Othersideofthechannel · 30/05/2011 05:55

Level 3, Day 6.

Feel a bit silly posting at the moment seeing as I don't have much to say, just logging each shred. I'm wondering if that's why some of you seem to have stopped posting?

SofaQueen · 31/05/2011 06:39

Ladies, can I join you? I am in serious need of jump-starting my fitness level (haven't seriously exercised for 4 years!) and have ordered the DVD. How much space do I need, and is there an iPhone app yet with the shred?
