There's a deal.

The press are over excited.

May has united the country.

Everyone hates it.
(Apart from David Allen Green)

Parliament might yet reject it.

Nothing is yet decided and everything is still to be sorted.

The only happy person happy with the draft deal:

David Allen Green @davidallengreen
A good day for those of us who do not mind if UK is not technically part of the EU but would like it to remain indefinitely in the customs union and single market.

There are not many of us, but Brexit may be going our way.

Ever since Maastricht, my personal view is that both UK and EU would be happier in the long-term with a form of association agreement, rather than formal membership.

UK at the heart of Europe never seemed sustainable.

I didn’t think we were staying in the SM, only NI?

Just before Cabinet started, letter from Scottish Tory MPs, including Sec of State, hand delivered to No 10 warning against any backsliding on fishing rights - PM simply can't afford to lose those 13 votes

1tisILeClerc · 14/11/2018 14:32

Thanks RTB.
Interesting to see the DUP getting some MNetter's love in an AIBU.
Get it while it's hot!

DGRossetti · 14/11/2018 14:32

Has anyone encountered any known Brexiteers asking for "objective information" on the deal ?

I'm on the look out ...

DGRossetti · 14/11/2018 14:33

PM simply can't afford to lose those 13 votes

she can if Labour abstain.

DGRossetti · 14/11/2018 14:35

I didn’t think we were staying in the SM, only NI?

No that's the CU, which TM and the EU have agreed is for the UK.

Apart from that, everything else is a FU.

mostdays · 14/11/2018 14:37

I have a feeling May will get this through Parliament.

Is it me or did this deal suddenly appear out of nowhere? I mean, obviously there has been the past two years but ... we were bobbing along, no progress, go to war footing, crash out and then boom - late last night there's suddenly a deal.

I'm enjoying all the brexiteer anger. Are they ever going to admit that they didn't know what they were voting for - as 'brexit' was never clearly defined? no

I wonder if we can get to the throwing the toys out of the pram stage of well if we can't have the brexit we want then we shouldn't even brexit at all Now THAT would unite the country.

Thanks for the new thread Red - we're really getting through them!

golondrina · 14/11/2018 14:40

Have the brexiteers on MN gone a bit quiet?

DGRossetti · 14/11/2018 14:41

Is it me or did this deal suddenly appear out of nowhere?

(channels "Sherlock") Derren Brown ?!

lonelyplanetmum · 14/11/2018 14:43

Thanks red for being there.

Assuming enough Tories are persuaded to support it this week, aren't we then promised a tv campaign to sell the deal to the country?
I read that there'll be a 'live' televised media conference to sell it.( No 💃 .) I assume this before the parliamentary vote?
That's errr something to look forward to..

1tisILeClerc · 14/11/2018 14:44

'Many a slip twixt cup and lip'. The fat lady hasn't sung yet and if the whole fiasco IS significantly wider than just the ERG group there may be more 'excitement' to come.

1tisILeClerc · 14/11/2018 14:45

{Assuming enough Tories are persuaded to support it this week, aren't we then promised a tv campaign to sell the deal to the country? }
Only fools and arses?

DGRossetti · 14/11/2018 14:46

Assuming enough Tories are persuaded to support it this week, aren't we then promised a tv campaign to sell the deal to the country?

Not really sure why it needs to be "sold to the country" ? After all, what can "the country" do between now and March 29th, apart from put the bunting up ?

Surely, if it needs "selling" it's a shit deal ?

DarlingNikita · 14/11/2018 14:47

Marking place. Labour will abstain. Fuckers.

KennDodd · 14/11/2018 14:50

I was wrong! I was guessing the next thread title would be 'Deal or No Deal'.

Thanks RTB.

BonfireOfTheVanities4 · 14/11/2018 14:51

Marking place Gin

MangoSplit · 14/11/2018 14:53

Place marking - thanks Red.

lonelyplanetmum · 14/11/2018 14:58

there may be more 'excitement' to come.

I read this without my glasses and mistook excitement for excrement!

Violetparis · 14/11/2018 15:07

I thought Labour MPs (or vast majority of them) were going to oppose ? I can't see any news about them abstaining.

1tisILeClerc · 14/11/2018 15:14

{I read this without my glasses and mistook excitement for excrement!}
I think your misreading is almost a certainty!

Hazardswan · 14/11/2018 15:15

I think the Labour abstain is only rumour so far???

Labour be feckle.
