Hi StorkAhoy!

Basically, the way egg share IVF works is that another woman/couple who need IVF themselves choose to donate half of the retrieved eggs, and they get their own treatment free (or reduced, in some clinics, but at my clinic it's free for them). The fee the recipient (me) pays covers their treatment, plus the monitoring, meds and embryo transfer costs for me. So, it's a fair bit more expensive than ordinary IVF (but, to be honest, my own-egg cycles ended up fairly pricey because I needed sooooo many meds, so it's not that much more). To be a donor, there are some restrictions (eg below a certain age, likely to respond reasonably well to stims, and so on) - it's an option single women and same-sex couples often pursue.

Munrowalker · 26/04/2017 20:30

Welcome persipan
That sounds really interesting. Ive not heard about that before. Fingers crossed the time flys by for you.
Pickle.....last pill!!!! 🤓🤓🤓🤓
I've just been to boxing as probably the last high intensity exercise I can do for a wee while as iui should be Fri or sat now.
💪💪💪 love the boxing class for getting rid of stress

pickle162 · 26/04/2017 20:59

I wanted to do egg share but even with AMH of 9 they said I probably wouldn't produce enough eggs so wasn't allowed. I really liked the idea of it tho. So pleased they have already matched someone too you :)

Ooh not long to go Munro, hope this cycle is the lucky one :)

I know 1 to go then new countdown starts to Tuesday and so on....never ending eh?!?!!

pickle162 · 26/04/2017 21:46

FRER are on offer in Superdrug at the mo if anyone needs.... £8.49 instead of £10.49 for 2

kwick · 27/04/2017 07:24

What we need is some PMA and today I am feeling strong in the power of "I am":
I am grateful for all the wonderful things in my life, particularly this support group.
I am a strong woman with juicy eggs and a nuturing womble.
I am in perfect time for all life's blessings.

WIth IVI so far so good:
Magic potion - they match for you based on your features (bit of a bummer for the brown eyes but they are the dominant gene) and most of their donors are Spanish
Same for eggs.
Just do not know about BMI restrictions - will discuss options etc on 8 May, in the meantime will type up my treatments so far - may even do a whizzy spreadsheet a la @pickle162

Welcome @Persipan!!! Remember you are nice and juicy!
Sorry about the MCs Flowers

@kwick, so nice to hear so much PMA in the morning, you go girl and get your kwickito 🇪🇸!

I'm defying all fears today and rocking a white pencil skirt to a conference! Call me crazy Confused

PhoenixMama · 27/04/2017 10:24

Thanks Kwik I'm feeling the PMA today as well. Think I was just missing out on sleep. I sort of mentally shut down when I don't get enough sleep I think!

Welcome @Persipan!

kwick · 27/04/2017 15:11

pez you are a brave lady!!!!

I was soooo feeling the PMA this morning but the forum I was at this morning was boring and artic and I kept on getting emails with problem after problem... I cannot to finish with my old job!!!
The careers fair in the afternoon has has much fewer participants than previous years so was a bit boring too.
I am now in a taxi hoping to make my train - I did not leave on time as my luggage was locked in a colleagues car and there keys were with their son (long story) and then the taxi could not find me.
My feet are really sore and my gammy leg is hurting... 😰

OP posts:
Karendvm · 27/04/2017 16:08

Thank you for the pma kwick. I hope you catch your train.

Pez82 · 27/04/2017 17:16

TMI alert
I'm happy to say that I'm on the way back home with no leakage of any sort to report - I was more worried about progesterone pessaries than a possible MC. I'm blaming pregnancy brain, a white skirt, what was I thinking??!!!

Hi everyone and sorry I forgot to welcome our latest new joiners (blaming the pregnancy brain again because it's my latest excuse for everything!)

tygr · 27/04/2017 17:38

Checking in. I've just booked an appointment with our clinic, hoping to go for IUI. I've miscarried in the past (previous partner) and had a slightly odd few months of being 'investigated' by the NHS. DP and I have donor sperm saved with the clinic, but it can't be used after August 2017 so frankly I think my chances there are slim. A bit fed up as I was referred to the NHS miscarriage testing in January, and I just got hold of a letter a couple of weeks ago, sent from the hospital to my GP in February, basically saying that they don't expect to find any actual treatable conditions beyond what we knew already, but they'll see me in June for a 'reassuring' debrief as I might as well just try IUI. No one had bothered to pass this info on to me, mind - I just knew I was meant to be waiting for more tests.

I would have been a damn sight more 'reassured' if they'd just told me I could crack on with IUI. It seems I probably have antiphospholipid syndrome, which increases risk of miscarriage, but nothing else obvious. Still, we're very lucky to have the NHS, so ...

INeedNewShoes · 28/04/2017 13:47

LRD - I'm being treated for APS in pregnancy. It's easily managed with heparin and Aspirin. I found out I probably have APS as I was treated after having a miscarriage and two chemical pregnancies. I'm now 38 weeks pregnant so it can be done!

INeedNewShoes · 28/04/2017 13:48

Should read 'tested' not 'treated'!

INeedNewShoes · 28/04/2017 13:49

I'm behind on the thread yet again! I hope everyone is ok Smile

LRDtheFeministDragon · 28/04/2017 15:49

Thanks, shoes - that's what I had understood, that it was quite easily managed. Very glad to hear treatment's worked so well for you. 38 weeks! How lovely. Smile Congratulations.

StorkAhoy · 28/04/2017 17:49

hopeful hi! So I emailed them back and asked if I could just get my bloody test results, and they said yes, so am getting those, but my new fc will prob want to re do them anyway, or at least some of them.

And blimey you made me laugh with the wind in the willows story!

witchmountain · 29/04/2017 09:30

Miri nice to see you back, sorry about your latest news, even if you don't need the tubes that's a bit of a shock. I hope your follow up appointment was ok.

Pez your clinic are an administrative disaster! Did you get any other notes through?

Shoes which day is your c section?

Karen glad your scan went well and you got a note. Has it worked?

Welcome Persipan. Great it's moving so quickly. Stork and Ever I think it's worth having one last shot so you know you've exhausted that option but if it doesn't work there is every chance that donor eggs will.

Kwick so pleased you have an appointment sorted with IVI. Short week next week so it will hopefully whizz around.

Pez I don't think I even own anything white. I'd inevitably get food on it or get splashed on my bike or muddy cat paws or something.

Tygr great you've made a decision. My decision process was to just sit with the idea for a few months and see if it went away. It didn't!

Pickle the countdown app must be working overtime!! I really need to figure out my finances and get my own countdown started.

Hi LRD - when you say "checking in" I'm not sure if you're brand new here or just posting under a new name. So welcome, or welcome back!

Hopeful glad your scan went well. Have seen you pop up on a couple informer threads and just wanted to say, in case you're not already a member, the Donor Conception Network is really useful for hearing about the stories of donor conceived children. They also do telling and talking workshops - it sounds like you're giving that quite a lot of thought, so just thought I'd mention it.
