If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Thanks for all the good wishes

I didn’t humiliate myself too much, unlike the last time I interviewed. I actually quite like interviewing from home, in those last few minutes waiting to start I managed to distract with lots of house tasks. I don’t think I will get it though as they have interviewed a lot of people.

Unescorted · 13/05/2021 18:30

Love sounds as if you nicely relaxed. I have my fingers crossed for you.

This is the brown slab with sugar on top type of bread pudding. Now I have had a bit - it tastes really nice. It is just the stage where you douse the bread in milk and then squidge it until all the bread is broken up looked a bit grim. I will try to post a picture from my phone.

The runners are getting giddy about it coming down to the pub for post run carbs.

NSD yay

Wolfcub · 13/05/2021 20:23

I have lost a recipe I've seen and bought all the ingredients for. It was some sort of biscuity thing I know it contained peanut butter, soft brown sugar and was coated in chocolate but it can't bloody find what it was. Em was it something you'd made?

marthasmum · 13/05/2021 22:20

Ooh I’m really fancying bread pudding now, but it’s too late to start baking...
wolf not sure if this will help but nigella does something with peanut butter and sugar topped with chocolate, like a peanutty millionaire shortbread. It’s super sweet.
Thinking of those if you with caring responsibiyfor relatives, sounds tough.
I’m at the waiting to be paid stage of the month, where I always resolve to do better and not end up in my overdraft Smile
I have made changes to my food shopping though so whilst I’m over budget due to over shopping early in the month, really hope I will do better this coming month.
Been a hard working but productive week... I am doing a part time PhD along with my job and I’ve nearly written a draft chapter, yay!

Unescorted · 13/05/2021 22:52

Mrs that is amazing. It is hard enough when doing a PhD full time.

Wolf that is ringing bells. I am thinking it was sing. Peanut millionaires shortbread.

Martha that's amazing you are doing a PhD. I never could, I'm not self-disciplined enough.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/05/2021 07:10

Peanut millions sounds lush
I have no idea what the recipe was thought

Bornlazy · 14/05/2021 07:17

Morning all. Well I was completely surprised by the sewing bee result as I thought Andrew must have been the one going home. I see what you meant now Unescorted 🤪 There are some fabulous sewers and I am amazed at what they create in such a short period.

My Aunt is hanging in there. We are doing our best and are asking for as much help as they will give us. Tonight someone from Marie Curie is coming to sit with her overnight so my mum won't have to. It's amazing how tiring just sitting with someone can be.

Amber hope you're ok after your stabby jabby. I had the Pfizer and felt a bit shit after mine.

Martha that is impressive ⭐️

Have a good day everyone.

marthasmum · 14/05/2021 08:52

Thanks for the PhD praise 😊 I am a lecturer so have a few colleagues doing the same...wasnt intending to blow my own trumpet! I knew it came with the job and in theory I get time to do it, but in practice not enough.
I think many of us on here have our hands full in various ways don’t we? For example I am in awe of school teachers and what they have to deal with.
For Nigellas peanut thing you mix 50g muscavado sugar, 200g icing sugar, 50g butter and 200f peanut butter. Top with 200g milk choc, 100g plain and tablespoon melted butter. Don’t know if that’s the one people had in mind though. As I said...super sweet!
Have a good Friday

I have just seen that there is to be a Johnson / Whitty News Conference at 5pm today. I hope that it doesn't end in further restrictions for GM - they have had restrictions for the last 14 months save a few weeks.

marthasmum · 14/05/2021 14:20

Blimey i hope so too. Things have been really tough in Manchester.

AmberIsACertainty · 14/05/2021 14:31

Martha are you allowed to tell us what the PhD is about or is it a secret? I'm not sure how these things work!

Born thanks, I'm feeling fine except a sore arm which I'm taking paracetamol for. I'm very pleased because I was dreading side effects.

Unescorted I hope your cold goes away soon. I always take vitamins especially vitamin C and also echinacea when ill for faster recovery.

I'm hoping for a NSD today.

Unescorted · 14/05/2021 18:28

Amber that is good news that you aren't suffering too much.

Martha I am nosey too....

DH is a sweetie... he bought me a packet of Strepsils because he thought I might need them. And has put an eBay alert on for DK merino wool odds and sods Grin

Watching that news conference it sounds as if we are being softened up for not lifting the restrictions in all areas,

Sounds like something I’d do but I haven’t made anything like that for yonks. If you do find the recipe send it my way!
ememem84 · 14/05/2021 21:02

martha you’re right - we all have so much juggling to do. There is no way I could study anymore. I just finished my last qualification until I go nuts and do another oneand this one had the option of doing it via coursework instead of exams. Much easier (although not easy) than studying for and sitting exams.

Dh joked the other day I should try and get ACCA qualified like him so I’d get the set. Legal trust then accountancy. But nope. Too much like hard work! Haha.

Busy here today. Gym library with the dc lots of playing and then pizza express by the beach for dinner. With obligatory post pizza run about. Went for an impromptu paddle. Was lovely. Cold. But so lovely. We are so so lucky.

marthasmum · 14/05/2021 22:16

I would tell you in real life but won’t on here as it might be a bit outing. But I teach midwifery students and it is about mothers
em I would have been better to get this done years ago career wise, but couldn’t have done it with small children.
amber hope you stay well

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/05/2021 06:01

Sounds very interesting Martha.
Spendy couple of days £100 Sainsbury's, £19 aldi, £4 post office, £110 new scooter for ds.

Up stupidity early due to stress and can't get back over after waking up
