Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

I had hot and cold feelings for 10 mins. I survived. Grin

the80sweregreat · 06/04/2021 13:00

My arm was a bit achy for a few days. I
Took some paracetamol. I was fine.

MimiPigeon · 06/04/2021 13:01

DH had zero effects. My parents felt a bit feverish and headachey for a few hours after the first jab but no effects at all after the second.

Spied · 06/04/2021 13:02

I live with dreadful health anxiety and find it difficult to even take a paracetamol without worrying about side-effects.
I had AZ in January and although I had a mild headache I was absolutely fine ( I was actively waiting/looking for bad effects).

Second next week and I'm hoping it's similar.

FlattestWhite · 06/04/2021 13:03

my arm had an itchy red patch for a couple of days, but nothing more than that. Didn't stop me doing anything.

VicSynix · 06/04/2021 13:04

Been jabbed twice. First time big bruise, achey arm. Second time achey arm. And that was absolutely it.

Frequentflier · 06/04/2021 13:05

I had a fever/chills and felt tired for about 12 hours, as did my husband and some of my family. My mom and some older members had no side effects at all. The next day I got up full of energy and cleaned the whole house:) Of my extended family and friends, nearly 40 people have had the vaccine with minimal side effects ( this is in India where it is available to all above 45).

My sister had Covid and the vaccine, and felt the vaccine was better, as did several others in my family. Please take it and know the effects will pass.

ThatOtherPoster · 06/04/2021 13:07

My mum had a stiff thumb (left side) after the first jab, and a stiff ankle (also left side) after the second. She usually gets wiped out by the annual flu vaccine so she was very pleased.

reprehensibleme · 06/04/2021 13:08

Me, Ddad, DH, dsis, DBIL, 3 friends all AZ, no side effects other than slightly sore arm, and that is down to the jab not the vaccine. One friend had Pfizer and felt 'fluey' for about a day and a half.

All above over 50 so could be an age thing.

suziedoozy · 06/04/2021 13:08

Where they did the jab was sore for about 48 hours other than that absolutely zero side effects👍

Iamanunsafebuilding · 06/04/2021 13:08

I had AZ 2 weeks ago today, my arm ached until the Friday. Otherwise was a bit tired the following day and my run on the Thursday after felt hard work but that could very easily not be vaccine related!

familychallenge · 06/04/2021 13:09

Arm ached and a bit of a headache the day I got it. Otherwise nothing 😀

Lollypop4 · 06/04/2021 13:09

Just had my 2nd yesterday (pfizer)
I had a sore arm for the 1st one , lasted a few days and seems to be same again with 2nd.
No other side effects

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 06/04/2021 13:09

I had no side effects apart from a slightly sore arm which wore off in 24 hours. My DF was the same and he's seriously old.

PickAChew · 06/04/2021 13:09

Ds1 was barely bothered by his.

MirandaWest · 06/04/2021 13:10

My dad had no side effects at all.

My mum felt a bit rubbish for about 24 hours.

cirrusminor · 06/04/2021 13:10

Haven't had it yet, though parents, in laws, grandparents, CV friends were all mainly just tired/a bit achy for a day or so and then felt fine after. Can't remember which they all had as were vaccinated at different times due to ages/jobs!

weegiepower · 06/04/2021 13:11

I had Pfizer and had no side effects worth writing home about. Parents and brother has AZ with no side effects, my grandma had AZ and said he felt a bit rubbish over night but was fine. Partner had AZ and didn't feel great over night but wasn't awful.

Aposterhasnoname · 06/04/2021 13:12

Every single person I know, who has had a jab, had had no side effects. In total that’s maybe forty people of varying ages and health, mostly AZ, but a couple of Pfizer. The worst complaint was a very slightly sore arm. That was me, and I definitely wasn’t playing on it so DH would go for the shopping, nope, not me wouldn’t dream of it.

toolatetooearly · 06/04/2021 13:13

Sore arm for a day, a little bit tired in the evening, that was it. No fever or headaches or anything.

Nyancat · 06/04/2021 13:13

DH, me, most of our friends all work in health care, very few symptoms apart from sore arms with pfizer. Parents, inlaws and siblings all AZ, again no real symptoms apart from sore arms

GoWalkabout · 06/04/2021 13:13

Pfizer, slight sore arm on first dose and a few shooting pains and a headache, but only a sore arm on second dose.
Don't do this worrying to yourself! You'll be fine when it actually happens, so quit anticipating disaster!

3dogsnorth · 06/04/2021 13:15

I had very little side effects to the AZ vaccine. Made sure I drank lots of water in the days leading up to the vaccine and also took a couple of paracetamols BEFORE it. After kept up with 4 hourly paracetamol and plenty of water. The next day I can only describe feeling like I had a little bit of jet lag. Powered on through the day, early(ish) night and normal by morning

AlexaShutUp · 06/04/2021 13:16

I had the AZ vaccine around 10 days ago. Had a sore arm for around a week and general achiness/mild fatigue for around 24 hours or so. No big deal.

DH and BIL (also AZ) both felt slightly shivery the next day, so possibly had mild fevers afterwards, but nothing serious and all gone within 24 hours.

DSis (also AZ) had a sore arm but no other side effects.

My friend (AZ) didn't have any side effects, not even a sore arm.

DM (AZ) had a mild headache and a sore arm.

DF (AZ) had no side effects except for a slight tenderness on his arm.

I only know one person who had significant side effects - flu-like symptoms for 2-3 days. She believes that she had had covid previously, which can apparently make people react more.

roguetomato · 06/04/2021 13:17

I had a sore arm for few days, that I forgot about if I wasn't touching or do some lifting arm, that was it. AZ.
