Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

Just a slightly sore arm here for 2 days after AZ fist jab.

JFCO · 06/04/2021 13:18

DM has had no symptoms after the first dose, except slight pain in the arm, but was very tired for 2 days after the second.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/04/2021 13:19

I had no side effects at all from my AZ vaccination. DW had a bit of an ache round her shoulders that evening but was fine the following day. My siblings have also all had minimal or no side effects. (AZ or Pfizer)

Lulu1919 · 06/04/2021 13:19

I has nothing ....well maybe I was a bit tired the next day ...but it was the weekend after a busy working week !!

MrsBungle · 06/04/2021 13:20

I had a sore arm for half a day. That was it.

OverTheRubicon · 06/04/2021 13:21

AZ, felt like a very mild flu from that night for about 24 hours - completely fine, really.

IloveSooty424 · 06/04/2021 13:22

OP I have my vaccine appointment on Friday and feeling very much like you. It reassuring to read some positive experiences. I hope we get away lightly with side effects!

89redballoons · 06/04/2021 13:24

My mum felt a bit feverish for 24 hours after the first one but just snuggled up in bed with Radio 3 on and a good book to read, and rode it out. She had her jab on Friday evening and by Sunday morning it was as if nothing had happened.

MIL got a burst of energy after hers, possibly due to adrenaline/excitement at finally getting the jab, so cleared out all her kitchen cupboards and gave us some random jars of pasta sauce and tinned veg she didn't want! Grin That was her only side effect.

Both early 60s and have underlying conditions, both had AZ.

bruffin · 06/04/2021 13:24

The worst effects i know of in friends and relative is feeling feverish and shivery for a day, no longer. My dsis fitbit said she did 3 hours fatburning excercise when she was shivering that evening, but was fine the next day

Dh ,DD and I barely had any a sore and a mild headache thats it.

rosie1959 · 06/04/2021 13:25

DH and myself no side effects maybe a bit tired
Son and daughter flu like symptoms 24 hours but no big deal Daughter probably felt the worse but still would not avoid vaccine just because she felt a bit shit for a day
Elderly relative Pfizer no effect what so ever

Soothes · 06/04/2021 13:26

When I had mine, I got to the end of the following day before I remembered to think about whether there'd been any side effects. A very slightly sore arm is all.

ekausbsj · 06/04/2021 13:27

Partner no side effects at all
Parents, one no side effects the other felt slightly warm overnight.
Grandparents, both had 2 doses, no side effects at all.
Parents in law, had both doses, one nothing, one a slight fever after second dose, nothing with the first.

Donotgogentle · 06/04/2021 13:28

DH and I both had AZ a fortnight ago. Slightly tender arm but zero other side effects for either of us.

I read recent research saying about 20% experience flu like symptoms following AZ, rising to 37% if you’ve already Covid.

Pepper54 · 06/04/2021 13:28

Everyone I know has been fine. I live a quiet life so here is my list. Hope it helps.

Me (54) AZ - very tired for 24 hours, went to bed, bit shivery for an hour so took paracetamol, otherwise nothing

DH (54) Pfizer - sl sore arm

DS (18) Pfizer - nothing

Best friend (55) - AZ nothing

Friend (48) Pfizer - headache

Friend (40) Pfizer - nothing

Friends parents 70s Pfizer - nothing

BIL (60s) Moderna - nothing

Busygoingblah · 06/04/2021 13:28

Zero side effects from first jab here. A poor nights sleep after the second jab but that could have been coincidental.

Sore arm after both but that’s to be expected when you stick a needle through a muscle!

DamsonTrousers · 06/04/2021 13:30

I had my first jab three weeks ago, AZ. I had a sore upper arm for about five days afterwards. It wasn’t painful as such and I had full mobility. No other side effects.

notangelinajolie · 06/04/2021 13:31

Sore arm - and that's it.

DamsonTrousers · 06/04/2021 13:32

Also, my parents - both late 60s - had Pfizer, first jab, and had no side effects.

My grandmother, late 80s, had Pfizer, first and second jabs, no side effects.

Iamclearlyamug · 06/04/2021 13:32

I had a sore arm for a couple of days and nothing else

Hadalifeonce · 06/04/2021 13:34

DH and I had no side effects whatsoever. Didn't even feel the jab.

OpheliasCrayon · 06/04/2021 13:34

I don't know anyone who got side effects.

justsaymaybe · 06/04/2021 13:41

AZ vaccine

Me (41F) - sore arm if it got bumped for a couple of days and really slight ache in arms and legs (probably wouldn't have even noticed if I wasn't symptom spotting)

Husband (43M) - Felt tired and achy for about 48 hours, but also had a cold so may or may not be related.

3kidsandafewcats · 06/04/2021 13:46

Had AZ zero side effects, 53 years

Karmatime · 06/04/2021 13:50

I had AZ 5 weeks ago, I may have been slightly tired that evening with a slight headache but if I hadn’t been looking for side effects I probably wouldn’t have even noticed. Dp had his too and felt a little hot overnight but that’s it.
Oh and after a couple of days I could just feel a slight ache at the vaccination point but far less than the flu jab.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 06/04/2021 13:51

Got mine done in Feb, apart from soreness at the site for a couple days (which didn't impede me in any way at all) I was absolutely fine! Next one beginning of may so hoping for the same luck
