Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

OP posts:

AZ last Wednesday. Arm felt very slightly heavy, but this went after I ate. Vaccination site sore when pressed for a couple of days so I just didn't press it. I did a weights session on the Wednesday evening and felt completely as usual and it didn't affect my ability to lift or exercise.

BalloonSlayer · 06/04/2021 13:55

Sore arm for a few days with the first.

Sore arm for a day and felt vaguely out of sorts for about two days with the second. If I hadn't had the jab and been on the lookout for symptoms I wouldn't have thought I was ill, I wouldn't have noticed anything. I was thrilled!

Daffodil1967 · 06/04/2021 14:00

I know of more than a dozen people who have had one or both jabs.
Most ( including me) didn’t have any side effects at. One person was in bed for a few days and 2 others had a sore arm and a headache for a day or two
None of these people had COVID previously.

I know one person who has had COVID and also the first jab. She said it knocked her for six , but she’ll have the second one when offered.

MiddlesexGirl · 06/04/2021 14:05

Zero effects here for me or DH.
I believe if you've already had coronavirus then you're more likely to get side effects from the jab.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 06/04/2021 14:05

15 close friends/family and me - between 17 (CV) & 67 (CEV) 13 AZ, 2P) variety of fit & healthy and 'very unwell'

A couple felt more tired than usual for a couple of days.

A couple had a slightly sore arm (hurt if someone slapped or poked it 🤣or if they laid on it)

A couple had headaches for a couple of days

I was probably 'the worst' but I have underlying conditions with the same types of symptoms, so it was a bit hard to tell which headache/aches etc were vaccine related & which were caused by the underlyings. I didn't have anything worse than my usual joint aches/headaches/etc even if on that day they were brought on by the vaccine.

(F52)

2 of them had already had Covid & whilst luckily they managed at home, one was pretty unwell with it and several months later is still suffering a bit.

I think you hear about the people who felt rough afterwards because they have something to say, whereas for the vast majority it's a 'nothing to see here' event, there's not much you can say...

Hopefully you'll be one of the 'so that was it?!' people.

Sister has Pfizer - two doses she felt unwell and tired but not unduly so;
Mum (72) has AZ - sore arm but felt fine
Aunt (86) had AZ two doses completely fine
Aunt (85) had AZ two doses completely fine
Husband (48) had AZ - felt really tired but other than that fine
Me (48) had AZ last week and felt fluey with a horrid headache for 12 hours and tired on day two but fine ever since

Sunshine1922 · 06/04/2021 14:08

I had Pfizer.

First one I had no reaction, not even a sore arm, I thought I had dreamed it.

Second one I was tired for two days and felt a bit like I had a cold, but that was it.

Rillington · 06/04/2021 14:09

Absolutely fine after mine.

Beeme29 · 06/04/2021 14:10

I had Astra Zeneca and have had no side effects whatsoever. It does vary. A few of my family members and friends have had it

My mum - no symptoms like me other than slight nauseous feeling

Grandma - felt pretty ill after but was short lived

Dad - felt okay

Other relatives - felt a bit off shortly after but didn’t last long

My close friend - felt very ill after with a high temperature.

^ all had Astra Zeneca!

movehimintothesun · 06/04/2021 14:13

OP I could have written your post, I felt exactly the same way, though I know it's not really logical, and even though DH had the AZ last week with no effects at all to report.

Anyway, I got over myself, gave my head a little wobble and am now sitting in my car doing my '15 mins wait' after having AZ. Hopefully all will be well!

lljkk · 06/04/2021 14:14

Slightly sore arm, starting about 12 hrs later & gone 3 days after that.
I think that's how I usually react to any vaccine.

CoffeethenCrochet · 06/04/2021 14:15

I had a slightly sore arm for a day. No different to flu jab. That was it. No other side effects Smile

Londonnight · 06/04/2021 14:15

I had the AZ 6 weeks ago, no side effects whatsoever
Son had AZ 7 weeks ago, again no side effects

Parents in their 80's have had both AZ and no side effects for them either apart from feeling tired for a couple of day

Second son had his 2 weeks ago, again no side effects at all.

twinsbelly · 06/04/2021 14:20

No side effects here :) arm was not as sore as it was after whooping cough jab in pregnancy. I was tired the following day but also had an 8 week old baby which is probably why Smile

Mindymomo · 06/04/2021 14:26

I had zero effects with AZ, DH had Pfizer and felt off for 24 hours with sore arm.

Monkeytapper · 06/04/2021 14:28

AZ, aged 42 no side effects at all, not even a sore arm

kaleishorrid · 06/04/2021 14:29

AZ - arm slightly aches the next day - nothing more. Same for DH

EvilOnion · 06/04/2021 14:31

I've had both doses of Pfizer now - 1 in January, 1 last week.

1st I had a sore arm the following day and had swollen glands for 24 hours a week later but no I'll effects.

2nd i had a slightly sore arm the following day but that's been it :)

Theunamedcat · 06/04/2021 14:40

Appletreehat · 06/04/2021 14:46

My dhs parents had it and had no side effect at all, his dm has health issues too and was fine. My parents had it and my dm was poorly for a week with it, flu like symptoms, very tired and stayed in bed for a few days. My dad felt abit 'off' for a day but nothing major. My brother and sister ( both keyworkers) had it. My brother felt shivery and run down for a day, but felt normal the day after. My sister had no side effects.

HandlebarLadyTash · 06/04/2021 14:48

Was chatting with the nurse didn't realise she had done the injection.
No side effect at all
Took a paracetamol at bedtime just incase

tuliprosedaffodil · 06/04/2021 14:52

Pfizer vaccine. No side effects at all apart from the standard slightly stiff feeling arm the next day, same as when I have the flu jab.

I'm healthy, aged 36.

Monkeytennis97 · 06/04/2021 14:57

Nothing for DH and I -late 40s-AZ

DeadButDelicious · 06/04/2021 14:57

Aside from an ever so slightly achey arm and being a little bit tired the next day I had no side effects at all. 👍🏻

Monkeytennis97 · 06/04/2021 14:59
