Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

My Mum and Auntie both in their 80s had Pfizer, no obvious side affects. My Mum said she felt tired for a week but carried on as normal.
Friend in his mid 50s had no side affects with Pfizer.

My five main friends and four DHs aged 48-56, all had AstraZeneca and had no problems.

I had AZ, felt a bit sick (but managed a large plateful of food for tea) and felt a bit tired with a headache the following week - not so bad I needed painkillers.

The only person I've know who felt really awful was my Uncle (mid 80s) - he previously caught covid ten weeks before vaccine and spent two months in hospital/care home being rehabilitated after covid, so I guess his body was ready to fight it with antibodies.
DH said he felt like he had the flu for 24 hours, but managed to work an eight hour day.

Needahand42 · 06/04/2021 15:07

My parents and sister have all had AZ and had literally no side effects, besides the sore arm for a few days. My parents especially have loads of health issues so thought they'd at least have a few days of feeling rough but they've been absolutely fine with it.

Needahand42 · 06/04/2021 15:10

Oh and in laws also had it with zero side effects and colleagues I know who've had it have not said anything about side effects (and they love a story of woe so I'd have heard 😂).

Caaarrrl · 06/04/2021 15:13

I had mine a week and a half ago. I had a sore arm for about 3 days and a slight headache a couple of hours after the injection. That was all. DH had his well before me and was the same.

minniemoll · 06/04/2021 15:17

I had no side effects at all from the AZ, just a slightly sore spot on my arm for a couple of days. One of my neighbours felt dreadful the day after but was fine after that, another felt a bit yukky after 24 hours but again it didn't last long, and two more were absolutely fine - I think it's just the luck of the draw!

EasterIssland · 06/04/2021 15:18

36yo female, AZ, the worse was the 4 days arm pain I had.

Deadringer · 06/04/2021 15:22

My 95 year old mum had both jabs, no side affects at all, same for my dh. My 80 year old mil has just had her first, again no side affects. They all had the pfizer one.

LurkerTurnedPoster · 06/04/2021 15:22

None of my family had any side effects - not even sore arms, all AZ:
me 54, my twin, my parents early 80s

Frequentflier · 06/04/2021 15:24

I agree that people are more likely to talk about bad side effects. People full of energy like me won't post.

MrsCalypsoGrant · 06/04/2021 15:25

I'm 45, had the AZ three weeks ago. Vaguely sore arm for a few days, just the same as I get following the flu jab, and a few mouth ulcers which may or may not have been connected. I'm not the sort to expect side effects - I have no patience with being ill and am virtually never poorly - but my partner (female, 43) is a terrible worrier, she's one for psychosomatic illness/health anxiety and has some underlying health issues and she had zero side effects!

You'll be fine OP Smile

KeepWashingThoseHands · 06/04/2021 15:28

Pfizer jab.

Sore arm.

That is all.

I feel great :)

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 06/04/2021 15:30

BioNTech. 0 side effect unless I count the number of people asking me "how did you feel afterwards?"; that was more significant than after any over vaccine I ever had.
So to these questions paranoid fuckers I answered "I felt hungry, I had lunch". Because that's was true.

Babyiwantabump · 06/04/2021 15:32

Pfizer nothing after the first and then just a bit achey and headache type symptoms after the second . Went with paracetamol though

RuthW · 06/04/2021 15:36

My mum had no side effects.

I only had a sore arm with my first.

Marmaladeagain · 06/04/2021 15:36

The only person I know who felt bit unwell, was someone who had Covid at Christmas. Everyone else has been either sore arm or a minor headache which could be due to change in season etc. (I had my glands come up for 24 hours two weeks afterwards, but didn't feel unwell - wondered if could be a delayed side effect, but either way went down next day) and didn't become unwell.

Marmaladeagain · 06/04/2021 15:39

When I say bit unwell - I mean one evening after having gone to bed they felt sweaty, but they are still very glad to have had the vaccine despite having the virus as nothing like when ill with Covid previously.

Pasqual · 06/04/2021 15:39

I had no side affects at all. My husband had a sore head that evening and a hot/sore arm for 48 hours.

hiredandsqueak · 06/04/2021 15:42

I felt a bit warm for about twelve hours and that was it. I was possibly more tired the following day but it didn't affect what I did so wouldn't consider it a problem. I was glad I'd had the jab and will be unconcerned going for the second one.

ApplesinmyPocket · 06/04/2021 15:48

It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

Crikey - not in this family!

DH (Pfizer) - slightly sore arm.

Me (A-Z) -nothing - even slept on the injection side, which I haven't always been able to do after the 'flu jab.

DD1 (Pfizer) - slightly tired the day following.

Nothing else at all.

tobee · 06/04/2021 15:49

AZ - slightly sore arm for a couple of days. Slept well but not fatigued. Nothing else.

Pissedoff1234 · 06/04/2021 15:50

Just an achy arm for about 24 hours. Felt fine otherwise.

MaMaLa321 · 06/04/2021 15:50

No side effects, nor my DH.
I only know 1 person (out of lots of friends) who felt a bit off for a day or two.

FrangipaniBlue · 06/04/2021 15:52

Achey arm for a couple of days, very mild headache same day that a couple of paracetamol killed off.

Next day I did a 10 mile run so can't have affected me that much Grin

Rainbowsandstorms · 06/04/2021 16:02

I felt similar before I had mine and I was expecting my side effects to be much worse than they were. I had a bit of a sore arm and was a bit tired and lost my appetite but none of the horrible side effects I’d read about before hand. I’m 10 days post vaccination and I’m still a bit tired and my appetite is still reduced but over all it’s been much better than expected. If you do get side effects just remember it’s your body doing it’s job and making lots of antibodies to help to protect you and most side effects don’t last for long. I hope it goes well.

MikeSully · 06/04/2021 16:03

I had mine on Saturday. Sore arm for half a day but nothing else.im 27. My mum dad and bother have had all the doses and mum felt a bit tierd she slept for 10 hours that night. Nothing else though. Can't wait for my 2nd
