Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

I had no side effects from AZ other than a bit of a sore arm.

2X4B523P · 06/04/2021 23:04

Had both doses (Pfizer) and only a sore arm each time. Soreness didn't start until several hours after jab.

MrsApplepants · 06/04/2021 23:08

I had a slightly sore arm for 24 hours. No other side effects whatsoever. DH didn’t even have the sore arm. We both had the astra jab 3 weeks ago.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 06/04/2021 23:24

I had a restless night on the day I got the AZ jab, it may have been a coincidence, other than that I had no side effects whatsoever, not even a sore arm.

Notthissticky · 06/04/2021 23:29

I had the Pfizer jab. I had a tiny bruise (1cm) where the needle went in and an area a few inches across around it that was sore/ stiff feeling. The injection itself didn't hurt eitherSmile My first flu jab and first whooping cough jab (as an adult) were significantly worse for side effects.

TTCat39 · 07/04/2021 10:28

I had Phizer (39F no underlying health conditions) and husband had Astra Zeneca (51M with chronic lung condition - I get mine due to his needs). Neither of us had any side effects other than a sore arm for about 48 hours. When I say a sore arm, I mean it ached to lift it above shoulder height, nothing more.

My mum (69F with Parkinson's, asthma and osteoarthritis) felt run down for about 4 days afterwards. But nothing more serious than generally feeling tired and achey.

We are all so grateful to have had it and are looking forward to the second dose.

Theunamedcat · 07/04/2021 19:26

Well I did it i had the jab! It was the AZ one I have a sore arm and a bit of a headache I did feel faint but in fairness they accidentally showed me the needle which makes me feel faint anyway 😅 I feel tired but I've been up worrying since before 5am what do I expect Grin

Bells3032 · 07/04/2021 19:30

My dh both had pyszir and were both fine bar a slightly achy arm. My in laws, sister and brother in law all had az. The worst they had was feeling a bit lethargic for about 24 hours. That's it.

trashcansinatra · 07/04/2021 19:32

I don't know anyone who has had anything more than feeling a bit tired (like a hangover). Taking paracetamol before and every 4 hours seems to help. Good luck!

WhereDidYouGetThatHat · 07/04/2021 19:35

I had AZ - I felt a bit tired and went for a nap. My arm was achy for about 5 days. That was it. And I'm usually very sensitive to medications and experience side effects quite frequently. It really wasn't anything major at all.

DieSchottin93 · 07/04/2021 19:37

My parents are both over 65 and got their first dose of the AZ vaccine in February. DF had no symptoms at all. DM felt a bit shivery and headachey the day after but felt much better after a nap Smile DM's similar aged friends have now got their first jabs too and none of them had any side effects.

Mn753 · 07/04/2021 19:39

Rough for a couple of days after the first (pfizer) but no sore arm. Fine after the second but sore arm. Previous covid infection though. Now feeling very lucky.

BasiliskStare · 07/04/2021 19:45

Are you still there OP ? @Sstrongtn

In this house Az vaccine - slightly pre cold symptoms for a day & that is the worst - arm - felt a bit heavy if I lifted it for a couple of days but as DH said - don't lift it. Lovely people administering the vaccine asked if I were left or right handed.

Honestly honestly I would not worry - my parents had Pfizer one - not a single side effect.

BasiliskStare · 07/04/2021 19:49

When I say if I lifted my arm for a couple of days - I mean If I lifted it over a day or two for a small amount of time - obviously lifting arm for 2 consecutive days - I could not do Grin

Derrymum123 · 07/04/2021 19:52

No side effects whatsoever. AZ vaccine given. In my 50s. Had covid last October.

SandysMam · 07/04/2021 19:52

I have had both Covid and the vaccine, both had effects but would rather have the vaccine any day of the week over Covid. It was over and done with in 36 hours.

Daisy829 · 07/04/2021 19:54

In my family out of the 5 parents (inc step parents) 2 felt a little out of sorts for a couple of days. The others (age ranges from 55-85) were fine
Dh age 51 fine, me age 42 fine, brother & sil ages 39 both fine. It’s very bit and miss. 2 girls I know younger than me were knocked off their feet for 24 hours but then fine. Good luck op.

Skyliner001 · 07/04/2021 20:14

AZ on sat, 40 years old. No side effects at all, yet.

BasiliskStare · 07/04/2021 20:19

@Daisy829 I think in my family we had everything between , absolutely nothing and then felt like you were going to get a cold - but lasted one day & then gone - nothing worse than that - I would encourage anyone to get whatever vaccine ( Pfizer or AZ ) they are offered. ( mid / late fifties in this house )

I am going to have my second one. & thank you to other posters so @SandysMam & @Derrymum123

Sorry not to thank all posters but I am in the camp of better to have the vaccine. & so thank you to those who have said so.

All best to all - Basiisk Flowers

Myself and my husband were both fine, I wonder if some are using the jab as an excuse for having a cheeky day off work after Wink

cheapskatemum · 07/04/2021 20:25

I had my first Pfizer vaccination last month and had no side effects whatsoever

Xiaoxiong · 07/04/2021 20:31

I felt a bit hot and cold for the first day, little bit sore where the jab was. Passed within 24 hours. DH had a headache and was a bit grumpy the next morning but that could have related to the bottle of fizz we shared celebrating that we had both been vaccinated Grin both of us had AZ.

I felt cheated! I had even told work that I might be off sick the next day and everyone was super supportive - and then nothing, no side effects at all.

Shar03 · 07/04/2021 20:35

Has anyone taken part in the Ensemble 2 trial?

teaandcustardcreamsx · 07/04/2021 20:37

I had Pfizer on a Thursday, aching arm approx 4 hours after jab (though it didn’t hurt at all before Hmm). Hurt the most the day on Friday and took paracetamol throughout day on Thursday and Friday. Hurt slightly less on Saturday and very light pain on Sunday. Completely fine by Monday. Found an ice-pack rather helpful for the pain too!

mamaduckbone · 07/04/2021 23:02

I had a slightly sore / heavy arm for 24 hours and was a bit lethargic on the afternoon after I had it. That's it. Dh was similar.
My 88 yo mum only had a headache for a day.
