Stories of the vaccine with NO or few side effects

I Have mine booked for next weekend, I’m not scared of Covid (yes following the rules anyway) but I’m terrified of the vaccine effects. It’s like deliberately giving myself the symptoms of bloody Covid by the sounds of it.

I know it’s not logical but if I can hear some “I was fine” that would help. All my family who have had it are/were ill to varying degrees. Pretty much all my family and friends bar two (both underlying issues) didn’t get as ill from actually having Covid, I know the vaccine is the right thing to do but could do with some positivity!

DH has a temperature but nothing paracetamol didn’t help and a sore arm. Nothing that stopped us doing anything as normal. I had a headache for a day no painkillers needed - went for a lovely long walk (as advised to keep active if possible.)

SisyphusDad · 06/04/2021 19:02

Couldn't feel the injection site after an hour. May have had a bit of a headache for a day or so but could easily be imagining out. Ditto 'sore' arm. I think that counts as near as damnit no side effects.

Good luck.

ClafoutisSurprise · 06/04/2021 19:03

AZ. Felt a bit nauseous the next day. I still felt well enough to participate in a three-hour zoom call for a hobby I do, so it wasn’t that bad!

Arm hurt less than it has done for pretty much any injection I’ve had in years.

Rockbird · 06/04/2021 19:05

Had mine 6 weeks ago, AZ. No side effects except for being a little bit tired that night but tbh I'm bone idle and it was more than likely to be laziness Grin.

Tender arm for about 48 hours after that but nothing else. No nausea, no temp, no headache, no chills, nothing!

Am due my second at the beginning of next month and can't wait.

Looneytune253 · 06/04/2021 19:06

I was petrified, given that I have pretty much all the 'risk factors' of having a bad reaction. I was absolutely fine tho. Nothing at all. I had the AstraZeneca

TheFluffiestCat · 06/04/2021 19:37

My mum, 74, AstraZeneca, no effects at all.
My stepdad, 75, AstraZeneca, bit of a headache, cleared up with paracetamol.
FIL, 75, not sure which vaccine, slightly sore arm for 24 hours. He's on a squillion different meds and reacts to EVERYTHING but not a peep out of this one.

fightingSmiths · 06/04/2021 19:54

I am early 40, no underlying conditions, never had Covid (asaik). had AZ and a bit of a sore arm. I have regular migraines and was expecting a rough day but nothing. just the arm (a bit).

carringtonm · 06/04/2021 19:55

I had a dead arm when I woke up the morning after but I'm pretty sure it was just where I'd slept on it funny! No other effects whatsoever.

AliasGrape · 06/04/2021 19:59

Had AZ just over 3 weeks ago, bit of an achey arm, bit tired/very slight headache for a day or so. Though in fairness I have a baby who had a bad few nights of sleep coinciding with when I had my vaccine so tiredness could equally have been that.

Tejutas · 06/04/2021 20:08

No side effects just a bit tired the next day.

Smartiepants79 · 06/04/2021 20:11

I know of at least 10 people in my immediate family who’ve had a vaccine. None have reported any side effects at all.

YNK · 06/04/2021 20:14

I had pfizer and ate and slept like a labrador puppy for 24h.
Whenever I mention this lots of other agree they felt the same.
I really like eating and sleeping so next time I intend filling the fridge and plumping up the pillows

theworldsbiggestcrocodile · 06/04/2021 20:15

I had no effects at all.

singsingbluesilver · 06/04/2021 20:17

AZ jab three days go. My main side effect is a sense of joy, optimism and relief. My arm aches a bit too.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 06/04/2021 20:19

Well I didn't have no side effects but few I'd say

I've had 2 doses of Pfizer now and both times I had a very sore arm, a headache and felt a bit tired and a bit 'off' for 1 day. Took some paracetamol, had an early night, woke up fine the next day.

I can tell you that was way way less bad than having COVID where I was in bed for over a week with headache, muscle aches, extreme fatigue, nausea, diarrhoea and not right for at least 3-4 weeks. Oh and loss of smell and taste and then bizarre random episodes of smelling things burning when nothing was for months.

A couple of off days with the vaccine was way worth avoiding that again.

geekchicz · 06/04/2021 20:23

AZ - late 40s / given it at 3pm . Shivers at 12am . Thought uh oh Went and did a very stressful 12 hr shift next day forgot about it . Popped a couple of paracetamol at 7am before starting said shift . Sore arm for about 24 hours Fine. Felt worse on flu jab tbh

CorpusCallosum · 06/04/2021 20:23

Jabbed twice with Pfizer. V mild sore arm both times, easy peasy! You'll do fine 💪

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 06/04/2021 20:25

Had the AZ, was fine at the time, very tired the day after (working at home, needed an afternoon nap) and then fine the next day. And my arm stayed a bit tender for a few days and I mostly slept on the other side. Now just feeling pleased to be vaccinated!

DollysDart · 06/04/2021 20:30

DH and I had AZ and Pfizer respectively. DH first jab no side effects (still awaiting second). Me, first jab no side effects, not even a sore arm. Second slightly achey arm and swollen lymph nodes. Over in 24hrs. I'd take that over a fortnight (or more) of Covid symptoms any day.

TheVolturi · 06/04/2021 20:35

My husband, brother and my parents, and my in-laws have all had the vaccines and none had any side effects at all.

JaquelineBeanstalk · 06/04/2021 20:41

Pfizer, slightly sore arm for a couple of days

Parents have had 2 AZ, bit tired for 24 hrs.

Sister and other friends with AZ, no side effects.

shamalidacdak · 06/04/2021 20:42

First one completely fine. Second one wiped me out.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 06/04/2021 20:45

I had a sore arm for a day, DH and DM had no side effects.

Vargas · 06/04/2021 20:49

DH had AZ. He felt a bit fatigued the day after, then had a bit of a sweaty night, fine by the next morning and he's been fine ever since, that was 3 weeks ago.

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 06/04/2021 20:53

I've had 2 Pfizer jabs: slightly tender arm after first, red patch and more tender after second but that was it

Mother and brother 1 both had 2 Pfizers with no effects at all

Brother 2 and DH have had first AZ, no effects for either of them
