It's on now. Awful.

Imagine if it was Glastonbury or Reading festivals. Just dancing and having fun.

It avoid to know people are paying respects and reflecting on the Nova deaths at festivals as this seems a really appropriate venue.

One great thing about TV as opposed to cinema is that you can't attract protesters to disrepectfully interrupt viewing.

Who produced the documentary by the way?

Have just finished watching the film It is outstanding and needs to be seen by as many people as possible

Indeed. It really makes you think. Shame some won't watch it to understand a bit more.

It was a BBC production.

I have watched it. Horrors after horrors. May they rest in peace.
I hope that an independent investigation is conducted to establish how this happened.

We know how it happened. Hamas.

tothesea · 28/09/2024 11:21

I don’t understand why it took so long for the police and army to respond. It’s like they were abandoned.

erwachen · 28/09/2024 09:50

We know how it happened. Hamas.

If my loved one had been murdered in the most horrific manner by terrorists and I knew there had been unheeded warnings, I would want to know why.
Wouldn't you? This does not take away Hamas' responsibility for the acts they have committed. This goes without saying.
If the French government had known about the Bataclan massacre in advance and ignored the warnings, I, as a French citizen, would want to know why.
The families and survivors of this atrocity deserve answers.

Absolutely. Let's keep this thread on topic... so if people could stop referring to 'left wing nutters' and the peaceful pro Palestine marches as terrorist supporters, that would be great, and there would be no need for any response. Thank you.

But some of these marchers ARE terrorist supporters. Calling for only Israel to lay down arms but never suggesting that Hamas does the same or Hezbollah to stop firing rockets. And you have just derailed this thread.

Moonshiners · 26/09/2024 23:57

It was horrific to watch but it wasn't out of a vacuum.
It's not black and white or a left v right debate.
The attack on 7th October was horrific.
The decimation of Gaza has been horrific and effected people that had nothing to do with this.
I can see both sides and both awful. Currently Gaza is far worse.

Can't you leave ONE thread for the poor people murdered by Hamas?
Please stop it, it is really upsetting

Why?

It was Hamas.

tothesea · 28/09/2024 11:53

We know who the perpetrators were I think the investigation is referring to why it took so long for the police and army to respond. From the documentary it seemed like they were abandoned.

izzy2076 · 28/09/2024 11:54

I watched this last night and can't stop thinking about it. The kids coming up on their drugs at sunrise and thinking the rockets were fireworks and then realising. The absolute terror of there being nowhere to hide. The trauma in the eyes of that boy with the beard and the American accent has really haunted me. This film should be honoured like Schindler's list but sadly it'll be labelled Zionist propaganda.

It already is being waved-off as Zionist propaganda by many pro-Palestinian accounts on X.

Do you?

Ok. I don't think that's what the poster meant

tothesea · 28/09/2024 12:11

There are images from the documentary that are now burned onto my brain. Two other documentaries have affected me similarly…one about 9/11 and one about the Hungerford killings.
What do they all have in common?

Men killing innocent people.

I feel desperate and helpless.
And there’s nothing I can do except try and bring up my sons to be peace loving and tolerant.
It’s such a fucked up world.

Workblues88 · 28/09/2024 12:37

It was horrific! I just don't understand how the Israeli army were so late to respond. Surely they must have been aware at the point they were breaking through the fence. It does not make sense.

At the time it was stated that warnings were given by Israelis guarding the fence but were ignored. The atrocities took place on a Saturday which was both the Sabbath and a Jewish holiday.

Dilbertian · 28/09/2024 13:26

Hamas committed 1139 murders in their pogrom on 7 October

Israeli citizens = ~ 9.8m

ie ~0.012% of the population murdered in one day

Add the 251 hostages brings it to ~0.016% of the population murdered or taken hostage in one day.

Now apply those percentages to the UK population:

0.016% of 68million = 10,628

Hamas’ pogrom in Israel was the equivalent of over 10,000 UK citizens being brutally murdered or taken hostage in one day.

Last Night of the Proms: 6,000 people
Luton’s Kenilworth Rd stadium: 10,300 capacity
No 1 court Wimbledon 12,345 capacity

Imagine one of these events being attacked, and everyone present being brutally murdered or taken hostage. And the venue burnt down.

Here’s what 1000 people looks like, and what 10,000 people looks like.

So Israel’s military was caught napping? I’m trying to understand how such military might was overcome because it was their ..what..day off??

Your concern really shines through.

tothesea · 28/09/2024 14:28

I take it that’s sarcasm. I’m trying to understand a situation. What I do understand is why the bereaved and the survivors want an investigation..wouldn’t you?

Scary how facts are labelled as propaganda by terrorist supporters. It happened and because of the ingrained hatred towards Jewish people.

How can facts be propaganda. Hamas themselves provided lots of the footage on their body cams. The fact that those hate filled vile creatures thought it was fun, and celebrated is even worse.

I haven't been able to watch it all, I am watching it in bits because it's too harrowing to watch in one go. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.💔💞

Those pro Palestinian accounts need investigating then since supporting terrorists (who filmed themselves which proved it occurred) is illegal in the UK.

At the end it said the families were calling for a public enquiry and that some survivors are suing the Israeli Security services for their failures.
I think BN doesn't want a public enquiry.
