Getting Ready to TTC baby #2 (anyone else want to join?)

We are gearing up to TTC baby number 2 and I thought it might be nice to chat to others in the same boat :)

I'm 35 and have a DS who is 3, planning on starting TTC next month. We've been on the fence about it for a little while, but I'm finally starting to feel a bit excited (and terrified!) at the prospect of a second baby!

@GoldieMam aww we have a Labrador 💜 she’s like our first child too 😂

Aww that's a gorgeous name for a Labrador @GoldieMam - it's amazing we both have July 2022 babies.

Thank you both you and @DaisyEM for welcoming me. It was scary and I do feel wobbly about it, especially as the doctors couldn't give us an answer on likelihood of it happening again. I also hate all the tracking and want it to happen by magic but then I get obsessive. So hard! Your experience sounds terrible too. I'm sorry you experienced that xx

GoldieMam · 22/06/2024 16:13

@theotherfossilsister it is! Do you have any birthday plans for next month? We’re moving soon so keeping it low key 😬

That must be tough not knowing, would you go down the ivf route again?

DaisyEM · 22/06/2024 17:03

@theotherfossilsister ahhh that's tricky, the not knowing. What happened to me in pregnancy (the major thing anyway), only happens in 1% of pregnancies and there's no reason why it would happen to me again, according to the consultant that I had my debrief with, so that helps. With my labour I had forceps and just found it horrific and suffered PTSD for a short while afterwards, but I know I came out the other side of that OK so can reason with myself on that one.

@GoldieMam @theotherfossilsister I have a July baby too 🙂but he will be three next month x

theotherfossilsister · 23/06/2024 12:28

@DaisyEM I'm really glad it's not likely to happen again, that's reassuring.

@GoldieMam I think we'll send out invites soon, just coffee/cake at local park. How about you?

I'm conflicted about IVF. We have an embryo left but I'd like to try naturally first. Although I think about the embryo often. It's a 6bb which means it's hatching

GoldieMam · 23/06/2024 13:59

@theotherfossilsister very similar, either a tea party at ours (but we are die to move soon) or similar in the local park as long as the weather plays ball. How was your IVF experience? My sister is on the waiting list to start and I feel nervous for her!

@DaisyEM it’s a lovely time to have a birthday! Do you have any big third birthday plans? Although my first birth was relatively ok, I have some unanswered questions so have booked a birth reflections appointment. Did you find it useful?

I’ve done another cheapie today and it’s still vv faint so not sure what’s going on here. I should be 12 dpo and due on my period tomorrow so maybe a chemical, I don’t know.

theotherfossilsister · 23/06/2024 14:35

@GoldieMam the IVF was actually really straightforward for us. We had male factor which changed to unexplained when we had the IVF andy partner's sperm parameters has gone up. We had success first time though so amazingly lucky. I think I will go back for the other embryo but a stupid part of me wants to try naturally for a year.

DaisyEM · 23/06/2024 17:04

@GoldieMam we are just going to do a bbq at home ☺️

I found the debrief appointment somewhat helpful, as there wasn’t much I could remember about my birth so it helped fill in some gaps. It also helped me understand the possible risks regarding a potential second pregnancy and delivery options. I was told that I could choose an ELC if I wanted, but as I was induced and had forceps I’m tempted to ‘have another go’ in hope that I would go into labour naturally this time, as I don’t think the artificial hormones help at all! Anyway, getting ahead of myself 😅

Ahh how confusing with the faint line! In a way you’d think by now that you’d be getting a better line, but then again if implantation happened around 10DPO maybe not? I suppose you’ll have an answer if AF turns up (or not!). When would you expect AF to arrive? Mine is due Wednesday or Thursday as my LP is on the shorter side. I may test Tuesday, I’m undecided as I’ll still only be 10DPO then.

OP posts:
DaisyEM · 23/06/2024 17:05

Saying that, I did get a clear line on 10DPO with DS and confirmed with a digital, so maybe I will test Tuesday, I don’t know 😂

@theotherfossilsister that’s great to hear, I’m always so reassured hearing positive stories from others! Sounds like you have good reason to feel that way, I don’t think it’s stupid at all.

@DaisyEM lush! I’m a June bday and always had lovely garden BBQ parties growing up, I loved it and my early Spring born sibling was always jealous. That’s good to know, my main reasons for doing it are to ask about the chances of a repeat blood loss. AF due tomorrow, had a more promising line this afternoon so looks like things are progressing. Time will tell! I’m going to do a CB on Tues then a digital on Fri, I should know for sure then (obvs in the absence of AF!). I wish I hadn’t started testing early. Last time I tested on the first day of my missed period and got a clear line but I wasn’t tracking so not sure how many dpo I was! Such a mine field 🤯

DaisyEM · 24/06/2024 09:35

@GoldieMam I will join the club of being jealous of summer birthdays as I'm a winter baby. Great your lines are now progressing! Will be keeping my finger crossed for the digital.

I know it's probably too early to test anyway, but I did a cheap test this morning at 9DPO and very much a BFN. I feel very much out for this cycle. TBF though I got a verrrry faint line at 10DPO with DS, even though I didn't have any symptoms etc. It's just this time my boobs are really sore (like they always are at this point in my cycle), so as that's usual for me, that's making me think there's not much going on in there!

GoldieMam · 24/06/2024 14:16

I am back to not knowing! Here’s my tests 9dpo to today 13dpo. AF due today but no signs yet. Lines are so faint, I would have expected stronger by now! Urgh it’s so hard, keep me posted on how you get on. I am big time regretting starting testing so soon 🤦🏼‍♀️

@GoldieMam oh no, I'm sorry it's so confusing for you! Would you consider doing a digital sooner to try to confirm?! Or do you think if it is a chemical it would make it harder to see the words 'pregnant' on a digital? Is there any chance ovulation might have been slightly later than you thought?

I’m going to wait it out for the digital and use it Friday if AF hasn’t arrived. I have another CB non-digital which I’ll do tomorrow and hope that’ll give more certainty. It’s possible but I doubt it. Urgh, this is awful!

If you can bear it I'd highly recommend trying a different test. I bought the Aydmed brand from Amazon and they're brilliant. Only £1 each at the moment.
I took one of each yesterday using the same urine and the easy at home ones are so much lighter.
I have everything crossed for you.

Alifemadelessordinary · 24/06/2024 18:42

Hello everyone!

Sorry I didn't update after my last post. I did another test and it was completely negative after 5 minutes.
I went out with friends but only had a couple of drinks as I felt really nauseous all day on and off. Then when I was getting ready for bed I noticed my boobs were ridiculously veiny.
Took another test and it was a blazing positive 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've spent the past couple of days in a bit of a tail spin. I was so sure it wouldn't happen this month and as we were going to pause trying until September I'd prepared myself for having a bit more time to firstly lose a bit of weight and save some extra cash.
Obviously it's super early days but the sickness has really kicked in like it did with my first x

DaisyEM · 24/06/2024 21:21

@GoldieMam you've got stronger will power than I do! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the digital for you. Let me know how you get on with the test tomorrow. I'm 10DPO tomorrow and can't decide whether to test or not. Think I'll wait until 11DPO although I'm pretty sure I'm out for this month.

@Alifemadelessordinary ahh no problem at all! Amazing news but what a whirlwind!! That sucks about the sickness, but then also it's maybe somewhat reassuring? Keep us up to date with how you're getting on xx

DaisyEM · 25/06/2024 15:17

Not much going on for me 🙃 I’m 10DPO and am pleased at getting this far to be honest, as when we were TTC #1 my LP was shorter than this. I might test tomorrow if AF doesn’t show up. How’s everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
GoldieMam · 25/06/2024 17:01

@DaisyEM thats good news. Got to take all the wins on this gruelling journey 😅 cautiously optimistic update from me attached 🥰 NC has me at 4 weeks exactly so v early days still!

@GoldieMam yay!! So great to have confirmed with a digital 🥰 keep me posted on how you’re getting on x

OP posts:
DaisyEM · 25/06/2024 17:56

@GoldieMam remind me of how many DPO you are now?

OP posts:
GoldieMam · 25/06/2024 18:07

@DaisyEM 14dpo today. The strip tests are still v faint but I got some supermarket tests which are better! I’m hoping maybe my ovulation is a couple of days out or maybe a late implantation 🤞🏼 What will you test with tomorrow?

DaisyEM · 25/06/2024 19:49

@GoldieMam i imagine your lines will get darker from 16DPO onwards ☺️ just a cheapy test tbh. I do have a digital but it’s out of date 😂 did you have any symptoms? I have none at all apart from the usual stuff in the days before AF, so I’m not hopeful x

OP posts:
GoldieMam · 25/06/2024 19:58

@DaisyEM yeah I tried to hold out a bit for the digital cause they’re not cheap!! Let me know how you get on! A bit of nausea on and off but it was worse this morning, heavy boobs and some 4am wakes but nothing too obvious.

DaisyEM · 25/06/2024 20:03

@GoldieMam I’ll hold on to a bit of hope then that my lack of symptoms don’t mean I’m out 😅 I have heavy/sore boobs but that’s normal for me at this point in my cycle. I didn’t have any nausea with our first, so hopefully I’d be ok with that second time around. With DS I did feel implantation though! Doesn’t mean I would feel it again though of course. How are you feeling in general since getting your positive digital?
