Finished projects - show me yours!

Who's finished something recently? I don't have many crafty friends and love looking at things people have made.

Here's mine: some oven gloves for BIL and SIL who are moving house. One of three projects I'm making out of a pair of DH's old jeans!

Never sewn curves before so I'm chuffed with these and I didn't have to use bias binding! Win! I did have to slip stitch the turning gap closed which was a pain in the bum, but I prefer the look than if I had top stitched instead.

This is my latest, it's a star baby blanket. Your oven gloves are fab, I like sewing but I'm not really any good at it

thanks, it took me a while because I kept putting it down to do other things, I'm so easily distracted! What are you planning on making next?

I made a quick cover for my cats' vaccination cards this morning. I wanted to try out reverse appliqué on two little cross stitches I had done. It came out well! Although it came up slightly small because I didn't account for topstitching, so I had to trim the cards a bit to fit Don't tell anyone.

Next I am planning on making an apron and a bag to use up the rest of DH's old jeans. What about you?

Dd has a maths dress up day for school next week so I've made her this dress to wear. Not sure how clear the photo is but the fabric is patterned with tape measures.

Ooh, so it has two 'compartments' almost because of the legs? That's fab! I've only made them cutting off just under the crotch. How awesome!

Honestly, not my most recent thing but a little phone bag I made a while ago. I am really pleased with it because I use it everyday at work as I never have a pocket. A colleague brought me the fabric back from his holiday in Hawaii!

Ah, here's my most recent thing. I don't usually buy quilt kits but I couldn't resist this one because it was a bargain and all the fabric is brushed cotton/winceyette/flannel which I love!

Love those, Mothership! Fantastic work. Would you recommend using a kit if I've never quilted before and want to try it?

Today I cut 84 (!!!) fabric squares to start making some stackable baby blocks. Made me think quilting must be very hard work!

Actually I would recommend starting with a sampler quilt where every block is different! Because then you won't get bored cutting 84 of the same thing and you start to get a feel for what you like and what you don't; I learnt to avoid any curved piecing! And you also learn lots of different techniques.

But also, for me, one of the most fun things about quilting is pulling the colours and shades of fabric together and if you buy a kit that's all done for you, so you end up with something perfectly coordinated but less interesting.

This is my Pinterest board Although there isn't actually a picture of my sampler quilt, I shall add one tomorrow.

Just restarted sewing after about 10 years. Love making children's clothes but no children to do them for so thought I'd see if I could sell them. First 2 were sold then had an order for another 3 similar to the last one also make hair bows or bands to match as a little extra/gift.

It's basically embarrassingly easy, but all instructions etched are there.

'Etched'? That would be quite complicated.
All the instructions 'etc' would perhaps be more straightforward.

This is my latest project. It is being auctioned later in the year by Woolly Hugs. Despite learning to knit in infant school I'm still not very imaginative though - I prefer to follow patterns.

I have dabbled with quilting and I'm going to have a go at a Christmas tree skirt in the autumn. This will give me an opportunity to go into John Lewis and stroke fabric as well as yarn.

Hi Flossy I set up a Facebook page and managed to get to show some of the dresses at a local playgroup - I usually make for ages 3mths to 3 years.
I've actually sold 7 altogether - Sold one at the Playgroup - most didn't want to buy summer dresses until nearer the time because the children can grow so quickly, but I've been invited back so need to get some stock together.
Then 2 on ebay and from the facebook page 1 sold and an order from someone else for 3 of the same design but in different sizes plus knickers. After I delivered the order she contacted me for a sailor dress and a sailor romper so I need to get my act together to do those shortly.

Oh yay, more projects!!
