Who's finished something recently? I don't have many crafty friends and love looking at things people have made.

Here's mine: some oven gloves for BIL and SIL who are moving house. One of three projects I'm making out of a pair of DH's old jeans!

Never sewn curves before so I'm chuffed with these Easter Smile and I didn't have to use bias binding! Win! I did have to slip stitch the turning gap closed which was a pain in the bum, but I prefer the look than if I had top stitched instead.

These are all so good! I love how much skill there is on display here. What a clever bunch mumsnet clearly is!

This is my telephone table. It was a weird 4 drawer card catalogue I picked up for £4. I brought little paint sample pots for £1.50 for the drawers, a gold metal paint and a tin of reduced blue paint for £2.50 in Homebase to spruce it up and then varnished it with some Matt varnish we had in the shed. It gets a lot of compliments and cost about £10 total.

So much talent here.
I'm learning crochet. I'm making some little Xmas stockings.

I made a dolly Moses basket with washing line and bias strips of fabric. The scraps made a little patchwork quilt.

Ooooh, Marci, is the stocking pattern available online ? I've been knitting some, but crochet would be soooo much quicker !

Marcipex · 21/05/2014 14:53

It's a tutorial from Le Monde de Sucrette Pollyanna.
It's really simple and quick to do with lovely clear instructions.

Marcipex · 21/05/2014 14:55

Sorry, I meant to say, they are called Little Christmas Socks.

Blithereens · 21/05/2014 14:55

Love that telephone table, and using washing line to shape the dolly basket is inspired!!!

Chaos That dress is brilliant Grin I saw that fabric on Ebay and was talked into buying one with elephants on instead
(my project isn't so specific to need a theme!)

All the lovely projects! I'm jealous of all of your skills! And time to make them Hmm I'm dropping down to 3 days work a week in July having been working 6 days a week since October, my project list is very vey long Grin

I bought a sewing machine in January and played with it for the first time last week. First time sewing since I left school! It's just a rat hammock made from an old pillow case and an old piece of fleece that had been in their cage at some point (and washed). I have a load of fabric to play with and make a whole set of rat toys with but no time at the moment.

Oh, some lovely, lovely work on here ladies. After quite a long break from crafting I am sorting my craft room and trying to make more "me time!" It's only something silly compared to all your works of art, but I made some cards yesterday.
I cheated and made 2 identical but I am rather pleased that I am organised for once and not throwing something together the night before it's needed! Blush

ooohhhhwww ...that telephone table Envy

Blithereens · 22/05/2014 11:25

I completed my first quilting project! It's a cover for my sewing machine. And I made a thread catcher too. My sewing table looks bright and cheerful now :)

My friend made me the to-do board. I love it.

Pixie I love that you are making things for your rats, have they promised not to be picky about wonky seams? Wink I won't make things for my dogs because they don't appreciate them! Grin

Blith I need one of those thread catchers, my sewing room is always a mess, was it quite straight forward? Smart sewing machine cover!

PixieofCatan · 22/05/2014 17:57

How do you get started with quilting? Not that I'm anywhere near ready for that, but it's something I'd like to look into when I have more time :) A friend of mine ships really interesting fabrics over from America for her quilts, it's amazing! I love all of the quilted things on here, all lovely :)

Mothership They have to sign a contract that states they will not be mean about my sewing/knitting/crochet skills Wink They actually destroy things quite quickly when they've decided that they want to 'alter' something, so making them myself is cheaper than buying them.

MothershipG · 22/05/2014 19:34

Pixie I learnt how to quilt from the book I liked to up thread, but these days there are loads of free on line tutorials.

Glad you've got things all tied up with your rats. Grin I'm rather fond of fancy rats but one of my dogs is a would be ratter so not compatible!

Blithereens · 23/05/2014 13:07

There are an absolute load of quilting tutorials online. If you go here and click through to about page 3 there is a great basics series

www.sewmamasew.com/tag/skills-techniques/

I am sure your rats would love a little quilt Grin

Mother I used this tutorial but didn't want to pin cushion so I just did one strap with velcro to go around the handle on the drawer

www.merrimentdesign.com/pincushion-thread-catcher.php

It was very straight forward, but don't do what I did and sew the strap in the wrong way around the first time!

I'm in love with those crochet snowflakes, in fact all the crochet items as I'm too dim to crochet - I've tried many times but I really need someone to show me.

I'm into pyrographying wood - so hearts, chopping boards etc. I've done 4 so far and I'm currently sanding a huge piece to Pyrography over the weekend.

I've spent the last wo days making this skirt for myself - it is bright pink batik fabric, with godets of two different paisleys, yellow with white polka dots and turquoise with purple leaves on.

I didn't use a pattern - I just made it up, and it's worked! I just need to neaten off the threads inside, and sew on a hook and eye, and a popper, and then it is done!

We really need a 'like' button for this thread.

Dingle · 24/05/2014 09:12

Loving the range of craft projects on here. Thank you.

focuson · 24/05/2014 16:08

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/05/2014 16:55

Ohhhh that is so lovely! I really want to learn to quilt.

Could someone please, please make me get off my arse and finish off the ends on the skirt, and sew on the hook, eye and popper. I have been sitting looking at it for hours. Blush

MothershipG · 24/05/2014 17:59

SDTG I am seriously impressed at your ability to just put something together, if I try that it's always a disaster. Now, stop admiring it and go and finish it! Wink

focus That is lovely! Did you make a serious dent in your fabric stash? Or had you been on a scrappy shopping spree? Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/05/2014 19:12

I have finished it - you can stop being stern now, Mothership - .

It is the first time I tried to do anything without a pattern, so I am pleased it worked out - it was 8 straight strips, and 8 godets - and I found a lovely YouTube tutorial to show me how to put them in. The GBSB judges woild disapprove of my cutting, sewing and finishing, but as no-one but me can see the dodgy bits, I don't care!

Woild it be odd if I used the left over fabric in some bunting I am planning? I'd use other fabrics too.

MothershipG · 24/05/2014 20:59

Well done for completing your UFO! SDT (Un-Finished Object) When are you going to wear it? I bet you get loads of compliments.

Why would it be odd to use the scraps in bunting? That's exactly the sensible thing to do, let's face it, fabric ain't cheap these days!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/05/2014 21:02

I go to a regular knitting group on Mondays, so it will get its first outing then.

I thought it might look a bit odd of I match the bunting - but I am going to do it anyway - as you say, it would be a shame to waste all that fabric.
