Who's finished something recently? I don't have many crafty friends and love looking at things people have made.

Here's mine: some oven gloves for BIL and SIL who are moving house. One of three projects I'm making out of a pair of DH's old jeans!

Never sewn curves before so I'm chuffed with these Easter Smile and I didn't have to use bias binding! Win! I did have to slip stitch the turning gap closed which was a pain in the bum, but I prefer the look than if I had top stitched instead.

I do like the twine bag Halsall - how was it to work with?

I am still entirely lacking in inspiration for the next bag - party theme is that it is a "summer" party - I think football and other outdoor games are planned. I must get going on it this weekend, really.

OwlCapone · 09/05/2014 11:05

I like the twine bag too. I had wondered about whether it's possible to crochet a beach bag out of cheap clothes line and a fat hook.

I have made a felted a chicken bag. I am not entirely sure what I'm going to do with a felted chicken clutch bag but [shrug]

It was quite hard going at first, and tbh I wondered if I'd be able to persevere - it seems quite hard at first to visualise whether the size is right. But when the sides got going, things clicked somehow, and I then had to force myself to stop!

The twine's fairly hard to work with but is OK once you've developed a technique for dealing with it.

The pattern's here if anyone fancies it.

Don't blink....don't even blink!

Bloomin' Weeping Angel, the bloomin' angel wasn't the only thing weeping, I have never unpicked so much in my life - won't be doing this again!

On a happier note - Pook I got the yarn you recommended and passed it on to knitting friend. Smile

MotherSHip - wow, that is amazing.
is it for you?

MothershipG · 11/05/2014 16:48

Thanks Thistle Smile It's for DD's friend, I'm going to make it into a bag along with the Tardis I posted up thread.

ThistledownAndCobweb · 11/05/2014 17:38

Lucky girl - it really is amazing

PookBob · 11/05/2014 19:20

MothershipG that's awesome sewing. Hope your friend is a fast knitter, I'd love to see your finished scarf.

cjdamoo · 11/05/2014 21:59

oh I love that Mothership

MothershipG · 12/05/2014 15:31

Here's a link to the pattern... if anyone fancies having a bash. I did the 'simple' version! Actually the paper piecing was ok, it was joining the sections that had me pulling my hair out...

stealthsquiggle · 13/05/2014 11:15

Not brave enough for that, Mothership - still trying to find the inspiration to start this weekend's bag, and DD came home with yet another party invitation yesterday Hmm

Anyway, in the meantime I got waylaid last night with the "need" to make a sunglass case for DS

And the Dr Who bag is complete! Tardis one side, Weeping Angel the other, magnetic closing thingy at the top and an internal zipped pocket. Oh the blood, sweat and tears, DD's mate better love it! Wink

Stealth I love your dragon may I ask what method you used for attaching it? It's so neat, with lovely sharp edges.

The bag is gorgeous, mothership - I do hope the recipient is duly grateful.

The dragon is appliquéd on - meaning, in my lazy world, that it is stuck on with American super strength bondaweb. I then embroidered his features (spine, wing edges, eyes, flames) and tips on his wings and tail. On this occasion I didn't bother sewing all around him as the bondaweb stuff insists that it doesn't want sewing as well and past experience shows that as long as points like wings and tail are well sewn down it does last well. DS has a pencil case with similar dragons, and his book bag has a dragon curled around it with the skeleton around the inside that took bloody ages which his friends all love.

Can you tell we like dragons in this house?

stealthsquiggle · 13/05/2014 21:27

Dragon bag is somewhere in this set

PookBob · 16/05/2014 23:00

That's amazing MrsLeonard.

MrsLeonard · 18/05/2014 11:47

thank you very much. it took a long time. the large flower and leaf use a wire weaving technique and the chain is viking knit. the majority of this piece is 0.4mm wire, think i must have used about 30 metres of it.

Gatekeeper · 20/05/2014 09:02

I love those Pookbob... made me smile this morning Smile

Poetnojo · 20/05/2014 10:34

Loving those crochet toys pookbob, and that necklace is stunning MrsLeonard!
