Who's finished something recently? I don't have many crafty friends and love looking at things people have made.

Here's mine: some oven gloves for BIL and SIL who are moving house. One of three projects I'm making out of a pair of DH's old jeans!

Never sewn curves before so I'm chuffed with these Easter Smile and I didn't have to use bias binding! Win! I did have to slip stitch the turning gap closed which was a pain in the bum, but I prefer the look than if I had top stitched instead.

I have just started playing with polymer clay and now have a growing collection of pendants and earrings to finish.

Pook I love your scarf.there are so many amazing things on here
For my own efforts my first ever sewing project is this make up bag with lace zip. I'm going to try a simple two piece template top this weekend.

lynniep · 05/05/2014 09:22

I love those ripple blankets! I haven't crocheted for ages but they are inspiring!

stealthsquiggle · 05/05/2014 09:50

A pair of pirate bags - for the hosts of a joint party which DD is going to next weekend. I can't believe I have bags done a whole week ahead - absolutely unheard of!

I am in awe of all the finished quilts. I have a finished quilt top stashed away, and have bought wadding twice to actually quilt the damned thing, but each time have ended up cutting the wadding up to make bags instead Blush. It's the hand quilting bit which scares me. I think I need quilt-expert SIL to come and get me started.

MothershipG · 05/05/2014 10:54

stealth Machine quilting is the answer! Get yourself a walking foot and stick to straight lines and gentle curves, or go mad with a darning foot and get into free motion quilting. It takes a bit of practice but it's fun. Check out Pinterest or you tube for inspiration and tutorials.

MothershipG · 05/05/2014 12:10

Ta da! Quilt for my niece. (I have no idea if my SIL is on MN, but if you are say hi!) Featuring jelly roll strips, New York Beauty flowers appilquéd on and free motion quilting.

Now I need to get on with a quilt for my other niece, bunting for new baby cousin and Dr Who paper pieced blocks for a bag for DD's friend!

Mothership - can you machine quilt a large single/small double quilt without a long arm machine? Do you just roll it really tight to get it through? I do have a walking foot (quilted bags, and it came with my machine anyway) but it is limping at the moment and I haven't got around to replacing it as lovely friend said she had a space one, but we haven't seen each other for months...

Stealth If you're doing a simple edge to edge design you could. Obviously anything that involves lots of changes of direction would be a pain. But you really do need that walking foot. Or if you FMQ you could work on a section at at time.

When I win the lottery I am so getting a long arm machine on a frame...and a room big enough to put it in! In the mean time I'm sticking to lap quilts and throws. Wink

Thanks Polter I have to admit that the animal print wouldn't have been my first choice but I got yards and yards of it from a lovely person via freecycle and it does do a pretty good job of making the brights and batiks pop (and hiding some of the more wonky fmq)!

OwlCapone · 05/05/2014 13:41

Oh my goodness, Mothership, that quilt is incredible!

Loving all the other items too :)

stealthsquiggle · 05/05/2014 14:42

Mothership - I just logged in via the app to see your quilt. It is gorgeous - I hope niece appreciates it.

Freecycled fabric, you say....?

stealthsquiggle · 05/05/2014 14:48

Logged in not via the app - to my eternal frustration, you can't see photos on the app.

MothershipG · 05/05/2014 16:58

More pics on my pinterest page Smile

stealth Have to say that was my one and only freecycle fabric success, I've given up on it now. I keep making 'stash busting' quilts only to find I need a yard or 2 of something specific to tie it all together...I'm sure you understand. Grin

Loving ALL these items
Here's some pics of a "rainbow dash" my little pony hat I made for dd yesterday

Poet I bet your DD is the envy of her classmates with a new hat for every occasion and mood! You are a milliner extraordinaire!

stealthsquiggle · 05/05/2014 21:50

Mothership - my fabric nemesis is work trips to the US. I always end up in fabric superstores and there's so much and it's so cheap Blush

Quite pleased that those last 2 bags were done without buying anything except the rope. Outer bags were patchwork of recycled jeans, and the rest (including zips) was from the stash.

I am now trying to find inspiration for the next bag (for another 7yo boy). His party is weekend after next.

Poetnojo · 05/05/2014 22:05

Thanks mothership, bank holiday here today so she will be showing it off at school tomorrow.
Had a look at your Pinterest page, your stuff looks fab, I'm definately thinking about dusting off my sewing machine, must YouTube some tutorials first though.
Those bags are great squiggle, I bet those boys will be delighted.

MothershipG · 06/05/2014 06:39

stealth I'm soooooo jealous! If I was you I'd be taking an empty suitcase, I've been to the States a few times on hols and always make a beeline for the closest quilt shop.

stealthsquiggle · 06/05/2014 09:47

Mothership - I would (and used to) but the pesky airlines have got much meaner with baggage allowances nowadays, so I tend to end up standing in the middle of Jo Ann Fabrics playing guess the weight and trying to work out how much of the heavier stuff I can cram into my hand baggage Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/05/2014 10:20

This is a crochet wreath, inspired by the Attic24 Christmas wreath (though I think it could be up all year round).

MrsGubbins · 06/05/2014 10:45

love your wreath SDTG! (I've started on one also after you linked to it on the other thread) how many accessories did you make? how big is it?

you should def put that up now.. too pretty to hide away until Christmas!

Wantobetaller · 06/05/2014 12:23

lynniep I am so so so jealous of you bag making skills, where did you learn? I would love to be able to create my own bags as I can never find anything I like in the shops
