So who’s actually enjoying this heat wave?

So we all know that mumsnetters love a good argy bargy over Summer vs Winter.

Are people actually enjoying this heat? If you are, what is it about it that you like?

Yabu - it’s great I love it
Yanbu - it’s too hot

I like it a bit. Just sunshine nice weather, outdoors. Yeah it’s too hot and hard to sleep but I’d rather that then rain rain rain

WhiskerPatrol · 24/06/2026 19:40

I am not working this week and my gym has an open air pool. I don't have AC at home but my best friend does and she only lives 5 minutes away. Loving it!

Comeonenglandtonite · 24/06/2026 19:41

HATE IT. Roll on September when it is cool enough to actually do the gardening, walking etc

Myfridgeiscool · 24/06/2026 19:42

Now I’ve acclimatised I’m alright.
Got more ice cream today, fan is blowing, sitting under the gazebo in the garden.
It takes a few days, when it suddenly goes proper hot it’s a shock to the body. Takes ages to find the summer clothes!

TheChosenTwo · 24/06/2026 19:42

I’m in my element tbh, I love the sun and the heat. Yes its warm at night but I’m not vulnerable/pregnant/ill etc, I’m healthy and enjoying the heat.
Work was chilly with the ac, had to keep nipping outside to warm up!
my house is very warm everywhere - it won’t last long, pretty soon I’m sure we’ll be back to dismal grey skies, rain and wind.

Lexy2345 · 24/06/2026 19:45

im loving the sunshine. I’m currently sitting in a pub garden by a river, lots of shade for those that need it.

ChopstickNovice · 24/06/2026 19:46

It's a great break from what's been a lot of drizzle and coat weather!!! 🌞🌞

G1ngerbread · 24/06/2026 19:47

Prefer grey and rain over this any day. Even the shade is too hot. I can’t comprehend how anybody can enjoy it. Luckily I wfh and have basically been housebound all week. I’ve nipped to the shop twice and it was unbearable. I guess it depends where you are though, I’m in central London.

Growlybear83 · 24/06/2026 19:48

I’m in south London and it’s boiling, but I’m really enjoying it.

FettleOfKish · 24/06/2026 19:49

I like it with the caveat that our home is quite easy to keep cool. DS’s nursery closed at 1 today so after his nap we went to a local beach about 4.30pm. It’s the perfect spot (aside from not having much parking, we were lucky). Big patches of shade because it’s north facing with cliffs around, calm & shallow pebbly entrance to the water, lots of families there pier jumping and paddle boarding and BBQing. Perfect evening.

icannotlivelaughloveintheseconditions · 24/06/2026 19:49

I am loving it. I’m not going to let being an overweight menopausal woman stop me from enjoying the sun

spicysalad · 24/06/2026 19:50

I love it. Absolutely perfect weather for me!

ToffeePennie · 24/06/2026 19:50

I feel most comfortable in the hottest weather imaginable.
The “comfort” everyone else feels in cooler temperatures is shivery weather for me.

Purplestarballoon · 24/06/2026 19:50

I would love it if I didn’t have preschool kids. As it is, it’s awful 🫠😂
I remember summer of 2018 with all the heatwaves and World Cup, I didn’t leave the pub garden 😎

Sparkletastic · 24/06/2026 19:50

DH is loving it. His theory is that his high blood pressure comes down and he feels good as a result. Not sure of any scientific basis for this but I have low blood pressure and feel proper shite.

frozendaisy · 24/06/2026 19:51

It's ok
Not what I would say is our ideal weather
But it's ok

Roseonthebalcony · 24/06/2026 19:51

90 % loving it!

North west so hot but not as bad as south and nights are bearable.
Just had a massive water fight with my 5 year old and laughed so hard my tummy hurt.
I’m allowed to WFH so no travelling.

mynameiscalypso · 24/06/2026 19:52

I had about an hour this afternoon which was pretty grim - had to rush to get DS from school and then come back to do a call with my ancient laptop blasting out heat. Everyone promised to keep it short and inevitably, it went on for ages. The heat felt stifling at that point but I went out for a walk and there’s a nice breeze (London) so I’m back to enjoying it now.

WhatHappenedToYourFurnitureCuz · 24/06/2026 19:52

I am in the day, not so much when trying to sleep. I work from home, my (stone) house keeps really cool, and I have a very comfortable egg chair in the garden. The sunshine lifts my mood.

NoSausage · 24/06/2026 19:52

Love the calm early mornings, the balmy breeze when I take my evening stroll and I kind of like the new routine of extra showers 😅 I even like the endless squash and iced drinks and salads.

There's a bit of a summer holiday feel 🌞

Don't like the temperature in the house but you can't have everything and it's only a few days 🙌

hay5689 · 24/06/2026 19:52

I like it. I’d like it even more if I wasn’t in work.

I have super low blood pressure. I feel amazing in the heat. Sorry!

user1476613140 · 24/06/2026 19:54

26C is unbearable. Not coping at all.

Duvetdayforme · 24/06/2026 19:55

I absolutely love it!

Overtheatlantic · 24/06/2026 19:57

I like it for myself but I just saw a distressed hedgehog in my garden looking for water. Fortunately I had put out several shallow bowls and wet the grass but I’m still worried.
