So who’s actually enjoying this heat wave?

So we all know that mumsnetters love a good argy bargy over Summer vs Winter.

Are people actually enjoying this heat? If you are, what is it about it that you like?

Yabu - it’s great I love it
Yanbu - it’s too hot

I would love it if I wasn’t a few weeks away from giving birth. I’m absolutely huge and can’t walk due to PGP so just about surviving with the aircon

InOverMyHead84 · 24/06/2026 20:26

It cut our Ofsted visit short, so happy to consider that a benefit!

SliceofTosst · 24/06/2026 20:28

Love the warm evenings but in London daytime sun at 35° is too much. 25-28° is ideal.

EveryDayisFriday · 24/06/2026 20:28

I'm enjoying the sun and long days. Yes it's hot, my coolest room is showing 27°c but it's only for a few days. I am much enjoying the warmer weather now I'm 6 stone lighter, I couldn't bear it as a size 20.

Zov · 24/06/2026 20:29

I'm usually in the 'meh be quiet it's summer!' kind of camp, and I love summer/the heat/the sun, but right now it is too much. 32-33C it's been here today (North Midlands) and due to be 34-35C tomorrow. Humidity has been over 50 all day. Even breathing is an effort.

Around 26C and NOT HUMID would be smashing for the next 3 months! The temperature right now is 27C at half eight at night, and it's 70% humidity! (And the humidity is rising, (🎵barometer’s getting low. 🎵)

Pollqueen · 24/06/2026 20:32

I like it 👌

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 24/06/2026 20:32

I might prefer it a degree or two cooler, but you can’t beat blue skies and sunshine.

TerriersTerriersTerriers · 24/06/2026 20:34

I’m not really a sun person and definitely not a heat one, but it hasn’t been too bad here. The only really annoying thing is I have to get up at 5am to walk the dogs in the morning and wait until 10 for their last walks which is not ideal.

Fatbadger50 · 24/06/2026 20:38

I’m happy enough. I’m a cold person usually so this temperature is ok for me unless I’m exercising, which I have done today too!

superspideysense · 24/06/2026 20:40

37 here today and too much. Too sweaty and trying to work and concentrate just isn’t working. Fans are many moving the hot air around.

if I didn’t have to work and ferry kids around then I might be able to embrace it more.

off for another shower soon!!

might need to invest in an air con unit. Recommendations welcome!!!

Propagandalf · 24/06/2026 20:40

If you're lucky enough to be able to acclimatise to the heat after a few days, then count your lucky stars. Not everyone can acclimatise.

YANBU OP.

Give me sunshine by all means, but on an autumn day in late September / throughout October.

Thechaseison71 · 24/06/2026 20:41

Yes loving it My aching joints ( knees and ankles) are no longer aching and much more mobile And I'm out and about in it working

youalright · 24/06/2026 20:42

I do and I don't I like it but our bedroom is currently over 30 degrees

90 % loving it!

North west so hot but not as bad as south and nights are bearable.
Just had a massive water fight with my 5 year old and laughed so hard my tummy hurt.
I’m allowed to WFH so no travelling.

I love this. I was in a massive grump with my two earlier for getting water all over the floor in the house. Tomorrow I’m just going to join them ! (And make sure it doesn’t get in the house)

Specialneedsnightmare · 24/06/2026 20:44

I love hot sunny days but I wish the temperature would drop to about 28 as 37 feels too intense to be out in for long!

Fizzybluewater · 24/06/2026 20:45

I have a chronic condition part of which is my internal thermostat is kaput. I feel the heat more than normal and run hot even in winter, hardly ever use a coat, just a chunky sweater if I go out and take a brolly.
Love summer but not the heavy heat.

Honeyhonay · 24/06/2026 20:45

🤚 me!

Okiedokie123 · 24/06/2026 20:45

I hate it.
dismal grey skies and rain aren’t ideal but far preferable to me than this.

Fangdango · 24/06/2026 20:46

I love breathing in without a gentle wheeze and feeling no pain in my lungs / bronchi/ wherever it's coming from. I have had constant mild pain there for months - possibly post-viral or post-operative. I walked three slow miles in the heat today enjoying this. But when I Google to try to work out why it's helping, all I get are results telling me how hard it is to breathe in a heatwave Hmm

Seriously if anyone can tell me, it would be useful information. So yes, I'm enjoying this

BeretRaspberry · 24/06/2026 20:46

I struggle in the heat due to illness so it’s not great, but we got air con fitted 2 years ago and it has been such a lifesaver. I managed to sit out in the shade yesterday and listen to my audiobook for a while, and I have done the same tonight. I’m coping because of the air con. We only have it in the living room so I sleep down here too.

HRHCurmudgeon · 24/06/2026 20:48

I adore it. I think I was a 🦎 in a former life.

BoarBrush · 24/06/2026 20:48

Bloody love it. I'd managed to keep the house too cool yesterday for dh, dd 1 that I had to put my cosy jammies on at night.

JHound · 24/06/2026 20:49

Me!!! I love it

Ptikobj · 24/06/2026 20:50

I am loving it. Parents have a swimming pool and live ten seconds away. I work from home but summer is very quiet so I am getting to tend to my garden in between work tasks. My house is fairly cool anyway, and I love the summer evenings and sipping a cold drink outside once the day's over. I just feel so much happier when everything is bright and sunny!
