I know I'm not BU. Everyone must know! Posting here to reach the maximum number of people whose lives could be changed by this information.

I have always made my toasties American style. Don't butter the bread, throw the butter in the frying pan and add assembled sandwich. Gorgeous.

But I've reached new heights! I've just discovered that the perfect way to make gorgeous bubbly melty cheese inside is to grate the cheese and mix with a spoonful of mayo 🤤

I'm amazed. How did I not know this before!

YABU to not put a fuller title to your post or add light-hearted. Click on posts thinking they may be important is a bit irritating.

How did you discover that?!

I don't like mayonnaise though

The cafe by me does a lovely cheese toasty and there's grated cheese and soft cheese on the inside and butter and grated cheese on the outside

I love a cheese toasty and tomato soup

I can assure you this is far from lighthearted. This is serious fucking business.

Really getting into the spirit of things there @Lytlethings .

mmmmbloodygorgeous · 22/10/2024 13:27

@YellowphantGrey

Try it as you may not taste the mayo-ness of the mayonnaise.

I bought a shop bought sandwich for lunch one day with grated cheese inside and didn't eat it. Later on I thought, I'll fling that in the pan and toast it. It was amazing!

Had to fish the package out the bin to see what magic was inside as it just looked like grated cheese to me. It was grated cheese and mayo. A revelation!

I'm with @Lytlethings
I was expecting a thread with information about signs of sepsis, or how to self check your breasts.
You know, actual vital information.

Could all resident fun sponges please return to their docking stations. Management will redeploy you for your next assignment

StarSlinger · 22/10/2024 13:30

The perfect cheese toastie is vital information. I agree about using Mayo. I always add it to cheese toasties.

Thankfully AIBU isn't the only source of sepsis or breasty info.

Absolute genius.

I love it when things like this are discovered and it's the best thing ever!

And when it wasn't, what difference did it make to your life that meant you couldn't just close it and move on to the next thread? Its not as if its used up valuable resources or caused people to come running down the stairs, or brake suddenly in their cars. There are a million threads on AIBU that are disappointingly not what I expected when I open and read them. Just sigh and move on.

DoIWantTo · 22/10/2024 13:48

That’s an awful way to make a toastie, sounds greasy as fuck if you’re making it in the frying pan (why??? That’s a fried sandwich, not a toastie!!)

I hope OP apologises to all those who die of sepsis, using their last two seconds of consciousness to click on this thread rather than a more appropriate life-saving one.

I KNOW. I have sepsis right now but I'm mixing mayo and cheese instead of calling 111

Motomum23 · 22/10/2024 13:51

If you want to take it up a notch I recommend 'buttering' the outside of the bread with coconut oil before toasting with grated cheese and Worcestershire sauce.

rainfallpurevividcat · 22/10/2024 13:52

I just toast the bread in the toaster and melt the cheese in the microwave.

HelterSkelter224 · 22/10/2024 13:52

@mmmmbloodygorgeous spread a thin layer of mayo on the outside of the sandwich and Worcestershire sauce and black pepper in the cheese. You're welcome.

rainfallpurevividcat · 22/10/2024 13:53

I like mushing mayonnaise and butter into a baked potato then having grated cheese on top.

mmmmbloodygorgeous · 22/10/2024 13:55

rainfallpurevividcat · 22/10/2024 13:52

This is utter mayhem. Just no.

YABU to destroy a perfectly good cheese toastie with the devils spawn.
Mayo is disgusting - the font of all evil.
its bad enough I can’t buy a prepacked sarnie
(apart from good old hoisin duck but they always run out by noon!) without you wanting to introduce it into home cooked fare…
Hang your head in shame you Jezebel!
