WTF is it with people and “cuddling” new born babies.

I’ll start by saying most people annoy me. People in general are annoying. I know I sound so welcoming 😂

But honestly, what is it with family wanting cuddles with the baby. Seriously, Fu*k off. I’ve just squeezed a melon out, my boobs are leaking, I can hardly sit down and let’s not even start on when I need a poo! But at least I now get to hold and feed my baby. Oh wait visitor number 746764 wants to “cuddle” or feed her. Firstly, it’s not cuddling your holding her and secondly go home while I enjoy my baby for a bit.

Seriously, hoisting people is a chore normally but when you’ve just had a baby. Give me a break. Go cuddle a dog or something and leave us the F alone.

And no, I don’t think having to converse with other people, while sleep deprived is needed. As “family just want a cuddle” I want some piece and to relax. You’re going home to a good night sleep I’m on feed 765. Don’t even get me started on family who think they know best when baby cries and won’t give her back.

Oooooh you’re hard 🙄

Funfaxfan · 13/07/2024 20:46

It's evolutionary, to stop other people eating them.

Karen is ageist bullshit btw.

Overtheatlantic · 13/07/2024 20:47

I don’t get it either. I love holding a six month old but don’t consider it a cuddle. And only for a few moments to smell that lovely infant smell.

FatmanandKnobbin · 13/07/2024 20:47

"Karen" - you lost any moral high ground with that misogynistic crap I'm afraid.

ZekeZeke · 13/07/2024 20:48

Congratulations on your newborn.
Presume it's your first?

Jeckyl · 13/07/2024 20:49

I think if it annoys you that much you either say no to visitors or be more assertive with those who do come and say “can I have baby back now please” and don’t take no for an answer.

There is nothing quite like a newborn cuddle and I don’t blame people for wanting one. But it’s fair enough for you to restrict visitors or how long they have the baby for.

Congratulations

Boopeedoop · 13/07/2024 20:49

Because I believe newborn babies have magical powers. So I like to cuddle them and sniff them and steal their powers.

pilates · 13/07/2024 20:49

You sound nice

Commonsense22 · 13/07/2024 20:50

I loved having visitors as long as I didn't have to look after them! Congrats on your new arrival.

Sethera · 13/07/2024 20:50

Don't worry, I run a mile from cuddling anything that is liable to be loud, smelly and incontinent. If you have a dog or a cat, though, that's an entirely different kettle of fish😍

AttackMeleys · 13/07/2024 20:50

You lost a lot of sympathy with 'Karen', and I do have a reasonable amount of sympathy for overwhelmed and tired new mums. I think the trick is not to invite/tolerate people you don't care for, and embrace the ones you do. It's ok to say what you want/don't want, but you need to do it promptly and kindly for best effect. People love babies, which is wonderful really. Congratulations on your newest addition 😊

YellowHatt · 13/07/2024 20:51

secondly go home while I enjoy my baby for a bit.
^ It’s this. This enjoyment you get from being with them, other family members get too. But then you knew that really.

If you’re not up for visitors then just say so.

drspouse · 13/07/2024 20:51

I was always grateful of the chance to eat with two hands.

AutumnFroglets · 13/07/2024 20:51

😂😂

But seriously, it really is an evolutionary thing so other adults can bond and therefore end up protecting and providing for the newborn. Think packs of wolves and meercats and how they all look after the babies despite only one female being able to reproduce. It's nature.

Scammersarescum · 13/07/2024 20:52

Fuck off with your misogynistic use of Karen.

Of course cpeople want to cuddle babies. If you can't understand the joy it gives most people, you are dead inside.

LadyFeatheringt0n · 13/07/2024 20:52

I love cuddling all babies they are just gorgeous Blush

I would have liked a third but couldn't have one for medical reasons but man i am delighted when a friend lets me cuddle their cute little baby.

123letsblaze · 13/07/2024 20:52

Ah you poor thing are you the only woman who's ever had a baby?

WinterMorn · 13/07/2024 20:53

What a horrible, unpleasant post.

Comedycook · 13/07/2024 20:53

You'd be even more upset if no one cared enough to visit or you had no family who were interested.

BruceWillissDribble · 13/07/2024 20:53

Go and write that bile in your group chat rather than on here.

midlifeattheoasis · 13/07/2024 20:53

YABU. Which would you prefer? "Nobody has bothered to come and see me". "Family don't help when baby is crying" "No one is interested in my new baby"
"I haven't had a single gift" etc, etc.

I'd be glad people want to visit

HRTQueen · 13/07/2024 20:54

I found it really touching how a tiny little human could make so many people happy by just well being themselves I felt happy that everyone wanted to show love to my baby and I could tell they to thought he was most amazing baby ever to be born

maybe it’s best you say no visitors for now it’s also a very tiring time

Crinklycrisp · 13/07/2024 20:55

I'm surprised anyone wants to visit you at all. oh and you can write 'fuck' on MN but probably best not to call women 'Karens'

CoffeeNeededorWine · 13/07/2024 20:55

😂😂😂😂😂 I know you’re comment is a jibe at me but some people have actually said “I’ll eat her with a knife and fork.” This has made me laugh so, so much!

Can't see the attraction at all.
