I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

The woman who wanted to let her son bring his super soakers to someone else's party in the park. The mother of birthday child had said no and she still wanted to bring them.

Most of the hen do ones are bonkers

The one where the OP was a landlord and having some kind of issue with tenants and people suggested that she gift the house to the tenants

CoreyTaylorsSoggyTshirt · 17/06/2023 16:09

There was one some years back where the op saw a lady with a crying baby in the supermarket, offered to carry the baby while the mum shopped, the mum declined, and then her mum appeared and they sorted the baby/shopping between them.

Op then stalked them around the supermarket, gossiped about them with staff, and then started a thread.

The posters all whipped themselves and op up into a frenzy and decided this woman had PND and op should go to the supermarket, get the CCTV footage, get the numberplate of the car, find out who this woman was and where she lived, then report her to SS because she may have PND and harm the baby - because she didn't want a stranger carrying her newborn around the supermarket.

It was wild.

Another of the weirdest ones I've read is in classics I think, I'll try and find it.

The many deleted threads about Brianna Ghey's death.Sad

DerekFaker · 17/06/2023 16:15

Sharon and the fly.

Busybeezs · 17/06/2023 16:15

The recent thread which lauded the Daily Mail articles. Deeply insane.

Sheepshop · 17/06/2023 16:16

The one where the woman was aghast that her husband came in from outside and lay on their bed covers without taking off his clothes - clothes that had been outside and must have been seething with germs!

that was a massive eye opener for me. Some people are insane.

hattyhathat · 17/06/2023 16:16

Check out the classics topic

cassiatwenty · 17/06/2023 16:18

Ah the fly seat, that explains everything 😅

That was my favourite ever thread. I have looked for it so many time and couldn’t find it. Thank you.

Thank you thank you everyone! You are cheering me right up

Can't remember all the details, but it started with a DH throwing wine at the wall, and there was a Sharon involved. What I CAN remember is lying in bed with the giggles and trying not to wake up the whole house!

I find this whole site a real eye opener as to how other people think and behave in comparison to my friends and I. The most recent one I met that blew my mind is still trending - the one where the OP has taken it upon herself to parent other people’s children in a holiday resort pool because their own parents have fucked off and left them by water alone. First off it’s mental that anyone would leave their kids alone in the pool, but I also think it’s wild that the poster would take on the responsibility for their safety and feel unable to leave the pool area, rather than immediately informing hotel management of the issue.

Beeinalily · 17/06/2023 16:23

Oh sorry @DerekFaker , cross posted.

WaterIris · 17/06/2023 16:23

Hilarious bonkers - the shit mags thread which I think is in Classics.

Batshit bonkers - a thread where the OP's DH ran the local Scout group, and she'd posted saying she was cheesed off that a parent felt it was appropriate to turn up on her doorstep to ask about Scout-related stuff. Her H wasn't there at the time, OP had kids in the house and the woman was quite unnervingly insistent. Peak MN was a reply which said that instead of getting rid of her, OP should have asked the woman inside, sat her down and offered her something to eat.

What the fuck are you smoking bonkers - the thread in Legal a few years back, where the OP (a first year law student) couldn't understand why her neighbour wasn't happy about OP planning to build her extension over the shared ownership passageway between their two houses.

Recently it was the post about how humans should be able to swim in the ocean risk free and sharks are very entitled for sometimes eating them.
