I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

Thank you. When you mentioned someone from Hull, I sensed it was going to be good 😋

The Sistene screamer was very funny. As was the Maui poster and her misguided belief that all of MN was agog and breathlessly waiting for her to share updates on her wedding, honeymoon and decor decisions.

Both were brilliant. I’d nearly forgotten the Maui one. I don’t think the bride to be had ever been to Maui but despite this had dreamt of getting married there since she was a child but thought her f&f were being tight when they said that they couldn’t even afford an overseas wedding in the Isle of Wight let alone Maui.

Two women squabbling in a charity shop over a nappy changing bag, and the poster who was convinced the government was poisoning our water supply Grin

Grapewrath · 17/06/2023 16:45

Screaming in the Sistine Chapel was my all time fave 🤣❤️🤣

I love this whole thread. Thank you so much. I needed this.

Most of the ones about food tbh! Especially fruit is full of sugar....

HRTQueen · 17/06/2023 16:47

Taking pebbles from Brighton Beach

it was hilarious the drama sown people go to in order to win an argument

YouLittlePlonka · 17/06/2023 16:48

The whole snapped and farted thing and the way everyone jumped on board making it into a huge thing was pathetic. It really wasn't that funny 😐

Agreed - so unfunny

mayorofcasterbridge · 17/06/2023 17:03

Has to be the window cleaner who insisted on cleaning the windows although the OP had texted and asked him not to do them - the dog was terrified and messed up the house!

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/06/2023 17:06

Can I just say that my only claim to fame on MN was naming the Yoni Massager Brian? <quietly proud>

SortOfLikeAnOctopusOnlyMoreBlocky · 17/06/2023 17:08

The reclaimed pallet bread bin was a laugh, will see if I can find it later.

Inthedarkagain · 17/06/2023 17:13

The best one was the lady who kept sitting in her garden to chill out in the evening but a couple who were having an affair kept shagging in her hedge.

She ended up boasting Another Levels 'Freak Me' at them which actually did freak them out. Brilliant!

TheShellBeach · 17/06/2023 17:16

There was a weird one recently where the DH had accused the OP of poisoning him.

We never got to the bottom of that one.

TheShellBeach · 17/06/2023 17:17

I wish to say here and now that I did not find the Sistine Chapel thread funny at all.

I actually cringed when I read it.

The notorious ‘how do you pronounce Frances?’ thread, in which numerous mumsnetters revealed that they didn’t understand the concept of a regional accent: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/baby_names/2974801-how-would-you-pronounce-frances

Oh my word, my daughter is Frances (born a year after this thread) and a friend who I suspected might be a mumsnetter once asked me how I felt about different pronunciations of her name. I was really confused at the time but now it makes so much sense! I never saw it as odd, just the natural difference between northern and southern vowels, but I am now convinced she read the thread.

The woman who wanted to let her son bring his super soakers to someone else's party in the park. The mother of birthday child had said no and she still wanted to bring them.

The very first reply was my instant first thought as well Grin

Trez1510 · 17/06/2023 17:20

I've been on here less than a year, so I can only offer two spectacular threads:

The woman who accosted a woman about dog mess (in the woman's own field) and who was then shitting herself her neighbours would find out it was she who caused the woman to remove the field from communal use.

And,

The Co-op pate that lasted a family of four for days and days and days. 'Twas a special treat for a Saturday evening meal with big salads!!

grimmers44 · 17/06/2023 17:22

Haha that's made me howl again 😂😂😂

Smittenkitchen · 17/06/2023 17:23
