And let their sodding dog in?

Think terraced house, very small garden, one end has shade, so neighbour has sodded off to work and left their bloody yappy dog shut in the garden for the day!!! It has been barking for 2 hours now!! Aaaaaaaargh!!

Do they have a gate. Call the dog warden, and then let it out. They clearly don't care about their dog at all!

Housekeeperbatcocoa · 13/06/2023 09:41

Do it.

Ihateboris · 13/06/2023 09:41

That's disgusting. Poor dog.

That’s insane. You can’t just let a dog loose to roam the streets and hope a dog warden might catch up with it 🙄

BMW6 · 13/06/2023 09:43

Absolutely and tell them you will report them to Council (noise nuisance) and RSPCA (cruelty)

Fuckers

NextTimeItsOver · 13/06/2023 09:44

That's really obnoxious of them. People who let their dogs bark for prolonged periods are selfish arseholes. I've a neighbour that does it. There dog is small and yappy. It's not too close to me but it's incredibly annoying.

It's lazy, selfish and twattish

WoofWoofBeachLife · 13/06/2023 09:45

Bloody hell, does it have water? There's no guarantee the dog is sensible enough to use the shaded area. Poor thing. Your poor ears. You are not BU, definitely give the warden a call and RSPCA/SSPCA depending on where you live xx

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/06/2023 09:45

Poor dog.

That's terrible advice. You can't just let a dog out on to the streets. OP I have a neighbour who used to do this with their two dogs, it drove me mad. You have my sympathies. This is a part of why I won't get a dog, I could afford to but I don't think it's fair to leave a dog all day alone whilst I go to work.

OrwellianTimes · 13/06/2023 09:46

In this heat? Poor dog!

Astrak · 13/06/2023 09:48

Tell them to get a dog walker. Alternatively, complain to your Local Authority re the noise nuisance.

They will visit and contact the owners with "advice".
If this doesn't work, please don't let it out. It won't stop it barking but it might get run over.
You wouldn't want that on your conscience, would you . . .?

Hotandverybothered · 13/06/2023 09:49

Call dog warden / RSPCA ! It is absolutely boiling already here today and the only place for a dog is indoors !

bibbityboppityboo · 13/06/2023 09:50

Can you bring the dog into your house? It's so so hot outside, does it have lots of water?

Reugny · 13/06/2023 09:52

I would call the dog warden if your council has one.

If not call the RSPCA.

Where I am it will be about 28 degrees today so any dog left outside without shade and water will suffer and may die.

Don't call your neighbour as they need to get in trouble otherwise they won't take animal welfare seriously.

GladAllOver · 13/06/2023 09:52

I'm with you OP. Our neighbours go out and leave their dog shut up inside the house. It barks and whines constantly until they get back.
People shouldn't have dogs if they can't look after them properly.

Willmafrockfit · 13/06/2023 09:53

is it a mistake?
or a usual occurence?

You need to report this to your local council as a noise nuisance as it is animal cruelty.

Go to their website and down load a noise diary, complete it and submit it to them.

Setting · 13/06/2023 09:57

I would message saying there seems to have been a mistake and their dog has been left outside in 30’ heat and bark continuously so you are worried about them. Then phone the RSPCA

Good idea, better it take its chances in the wild than remain where it is. There's always a risk it will attack someone of course but for the most part the only real danger is to the animal itself.

Movinghouseatlast · 13/06/2023 10:00

Call the RSPCA. They don't deserve to have a dog, they are being very cruel.

I’ve got the same. I’ve spoke to them about it before when they got the dog incase they weren’t aware it had separation anxiety, a year down the road they still go out for hours at a time and the dog whines and barks the entire time.

Jazzybean · 13/06/2023 10:14

Is it a one off or a regular occurrence? If not usual, I’d be inclined to help rather than report/cause an argument etc.

On the rare occasions that our neighbour has gone out and been delayed coming back, and his dog has been stressed, I’ve just gone to get the dog and he’s come to ours for a couple of hours.

Please @Hocuspocusnonsense ignore this frankly spiteful and sick advice. The neighbour is not a caring owner, this is bordering on neglectful but the poor dog should not be released to to roam the streets and potentially get killed by a car. Please call the neighbour.

Pringlesinthebath · 13/06/2023 10:15

I’m not saying this is a sensible decision at all, but are they perhaps worried about how hot it will get inside their house? They could have made a judgement call that the shade outside will be cooler and safer… Our house was boiling yesterday, hotter than outside by nearly 10 degrees. (Doesn’t help the barking though, clearly they should have found a pet sitter - maybe a dog walker is coming to collect from the garden in a little while?)

Hocuspocusnonsense · 13/06/2023 10:15

This happened last Summer and we ended up having a tricky conversation with them and they were very offish with us.

I have her mobile number so I’ve messaged her, she’s read it, hasn’t replied.

I've just put a bowl of water over the fence for it.
