And let their sodding dog in?

Think terraced house, very small garden, one end has shade, so neighbour has sodded off to work and left their bloody yappy dog shut in the garden for the day!!! It has been barking for 2 hours now!! Aaaaaaaargh!!

Do they have a gate. Call the dog warden, and then let it out. They clearly don't care about their dog at all!

I'm not a dog owner but I'm pretty sure letting someone's dog out to roam and possibly get run over if it has no road sense is quite possibly the stupidest suggestion I have ever heard on here. I mean it'd stop the barking sure, possibly long term if your plan works 🙄. Idiot.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/06/2023 12:52

Has she come home yet op? Poor dog. Mine are inside with me. It’s boiling outside.

ForTheSakeOfThePenguin · 13/06/2023 12:32

No 😁

😂haha at least you're honest :)

Themsthebrakes · 13/06/2023 12:56

I dislike dogs in general but that is a horrible suggestion to make.

QueenCamilla · 13/06/2023 12:56

@ClaudiaWankleman Why is it faux concern from everyone, just because you don't feel it?

There is no reasonable or non-faux way of concern here. It's not an animal left on a scorching paved-over Greek yard with no water.
(No one is sure if there was no water left by the owner. However we do know that the OP has provided some).

Most people need to untwist their knickers and go and collect their cats before they get run over in search of a shady spot (in neighbour's garden) to shit on.

Are you always incapable of understanding other people's points of view?

Right back at you.

You think every single person here is feigning concern? Idiocy. There's no point of view of yours to understand, it's just idiocy.

Okshacky · 13/06/2023 13:01

I think it rather depends if there’s shade in the garden and water. If both it will be cooler than the house.

Please don’t do this. What a vile piece of advice. It’s not the dog’s fault!

Ring her office but don't ask to speak to her just leave a message. Then they can all know what sort of owner she is...

I was going to suggest exactly this.

Hocuspocusnonsense · 13/06/2023 13:06

UPDATE! Owner didn’t come back at lunchtime so I called and they asked me to let myself in to their garden and let the dog in the back door. Dog is now back in the house.

They definitely need reporting.

How cruel.

LookItsMeAgain · 13/06/2023 13:19

Make sure that they don't begin to rely on your kindness in letting their dog back in again on a regular basis.,

I'd make it very clear that you putting water out and letting the dog in was a once off and they need to engage the services of a suitably trained dog walker so you're not left to listen to their dog barking and that their dog is occupied and not barking out of boredom.

BelindaBears · 13/06/2023 13:30

Glad it’s resolved! Even doing that for them is more than you should be doing for their dog though (and more than I would have done - like shit am I putting myself in the territory of a dog I don’t know.) Lazy twats.

I absolutely agree with this. Maybe respond with "I will do it on this occasion but..." and then something politely chilling about her acting properly responsible for her own animal.

"Faux concern" is an odd thing to say. Most normal human beings would be concerned about an animal being upset - the repeated barking is a sign of distress, regardless of the weather. Not leaving water out for him in very hot weather - which today is, regardless of what breed of dog - is appalling behaviour.

whynotwhatknot · 13/06/2023 13:43

dont let them get into a habit with this its bloody cruel and youre not there dog walker theyre taking the piss

theyve done it before and clearly dont give a shit

Pudmyboy · 13/06/2023 13:44

Thank you for looking after their dog, for the dog's sake! 💐
Maybe worth keeping a diary of such events (Inc photos which embed date so can't deny when they were taken) in case happens in future? Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for them but in case not, there is evidence that they are not looking after their dog properly

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 13/06/2023 13:44

Tell her if she does that again you'll ring the RSPCA every.single.time to report her.

Poor dog.

And I'm a cat person.😿

I am smirking at the people who think either the RSPCA or the council will do anything

RSPCA acted the same day for several horses I reported & council sent letter to a dog owner that constantly barked & it stopped so obviously depends where you live. Guess you’re in a city where they are underfunded & over worked

Same. I wish people would do more research on the RSPCA before recommending them (or giving them money).

Why? My council acted when I reported a dog barking very late at night.

I have stopped donating to the RSPCA as I have my doubts about them but it's always worth a punt.
