And let their sodding dog in?

Think terraced house, very small garden, one end has shade, so neighbour has sodded off to work and left their bloody yappy dog shut in the garden for the day!!! It has been barking for 2 hours now!! Aaaaaaaargh!!

I do have access to their back gate but I won’t let the dog out. Much as the barking is driving me nuts, I don’t wish it to get lost or run over.

Good idea, better it take its chances in the wild than remain where it is. There's always a risk it will attack someone of course but for the most part the only real danger is to the animal itself.

There's a bigger risk it'll get killed in the traffic but knowing your often spouted dislike of dogs your support for this action doesn't surprise me.

ClaudiaWankleman · 13/06/2023 10:17

Finally, a thread about neighbour noise that isn't U.

Poor dog - that's no way to treat it. Probably distressed and I bet it hasn't got adequate water either. I'd ring them.

Billyho · 13/06/2023 10:18

Poor dog!

Makemyday99 · 13/06/2023 10:20

If it has no shade/shelter or water then RSPCA or animal welfare probably will come out otherwise they won’t, if the yapping persists report it to the council but make sure you record the yapping at various intervals otherwise they may not do anything if you have no proof

Yeah I think @Dotjones was being ironic

RhosynBach · 13/06/2023 10:23

Will they be out all day? I’m concerned for the dog- it’s already boiling hot today! It’s going to reach 27 degrees where I am. Is there much shade in the garden? Really irresponsible of them- poor dog. I would call rspca if they don’t respond to you.

spiderlight · 13/06/2023 10:24

Poor dog! I hope she comes home. Thank you for giving the poor thing some water.

WildFlowerBees · 13/06/2023 10:25

If it were me I'd be fetching the dog from their side and bringing into mine where it's cool. Some people really don't deserve animals.

2bazookas · 13/06/2023 10:25

I hope the poor thing escapes and runs away, miles and miles and miles.

Can you bring the dog into your house? It's so so hot outside, does it have lots of water?

Spot the mad doggy person.

Not her circus, not her monkeys. Or not her dog, to be precise. Why on earth would someone want a neighbour's dog in their house?

And yes, call them at work and get them home.

SpilltheTea · 13/06/2023 10:26

We get this every year with a couple down the road. The RSPCA and the council couldn't give a shit.

milkydress · 13/06/2023 10:27

Please report them. This is cruel. You can't treat animals like that

WildFlowerBees · 13/06/2023 10:30

The RSPCA won't do anything they are no more use than a chocolate teapot.

LittleCharlotte · 13/06/2023 10:31

Tell the council - and if this continues, the police/RSPCA. It's animal neglect and is unacceptable.

TheOrigRights · 13/06/2023 10:31

Pfffff, it reminds me of my neighbour telling me "we've all got to find a solution" when I informed her that her dog barked incessantly when she went out.
No love, you sort your own dog out.

dawngreen · 13/06/2023 10:31

A dog can die in the shade in this heat, and its running about so it will be worse.

Because the creature might die otherwise?

I'd temporarily bring an animal into my house if it was extremely hot or cold outside to stop it suffering. You don't need to give it free reign of the house and let it get on the sofas.

Assuming no allergies or phobias and that the dog isn't a dangerous breed, bringing it inside is probably the best solution tbh if you can / wouldn't mind because it a) should stop the dog barking and b) also keep it cool.

bibbityboppityboo · 13/06/2023 10:34

@GulesMeansRed

I'm not a mad doggy person - I don't own a dog at all - I'm a cat person! 🙄 I just am a person who wouldn't want an animal to suffer due to someone else's neglect. It could die in this heat, there's a red warning for life for dogs.

If I saw a neighbours animal locked out in heat that is really dangerous for dogs then yes I'd be happy to do anything I can to help it, including taking it into some shade or my house, or giving it water or cool towels to cool down. It's not the poor dogs fault it's got a terrible owner!

Glad to see you've popped over some water OP - I'd definitely be calling someone (RSPCA - would 111 be an option? Even a local vets) if they're not back soon to look after it.

Hocuspocusnonsense · 13/06/2023 10:34

I won’t bring the dog in to my house, I have small children, and it growls, I wouldn’t trust it.

poor dog!

NotmyRLname · 13/06/2023 10:36

this happened to me once it was a complete accident. My teen left the back door not locked and my dog escaped and then pushed the door closed. She was stuck out there for a few hours until someone came home.
why are people being so judgemental about this it could be an accident. Calling the rspca or listing the dog escape is horrible.
it’s likely a 1 off and yes call the neighbour she’s likely horrified

Hocuspocusnonsense · 13/06/2023 10:37

She works 5 mins down the road in an office.

I have a feeling she will pop back at lunchtime (I hope!)

She still hasn’t replied to message (read it a while ago).

It’s a noise nuisance as well so make a note of the time and record the dog barking. You can report it to the council especially if it persists.
