To call neighbour and tell them to come home from work?

And let their sodding dog in?

Think terraced house, very small garden, one end has shade, so neighbour has sodded off to work and left their bloody yappy dog shut in the garden for the day!!! It has been barking for 2 hours now!! Aaaaaaaargh!!

They keep their door unlocked? It’s simple then. As soon as she goes to work let the dog in. Eventually it’ll make a mess or eat the furniture and she’ll get the message

TooJoy · 13/06/2023 21:35

If it happens again then ring the RSPCA.

No one should be left out in the sun with no shade and water.

Doone21 · 13/06/2023 22:04

Do go get it, take it to a shelter, tell them it's a stray

I think they would just scan the microchip 😂

Zarataralara · 13/06/2023 22:36

Suggest to the owners they get a dog flap fitted to the back door?

Soapyspuds · 13/06/2023 22:38

A high frequency sound app stops my neighbours dog from barking when it is left alone.

Allegedly. Cough.

Amethyst13 · 13/06/2023 22:49

I wonder if PP aware that dogs also live in hot countries? Thailand, India, Mexico, Australia, I could go on.

It's hot outside, yes, but it's not hot enough to kill a healthy dog in it's garden. A hot car on the other hand would be deadly.

English people gave a comical view on what qualifies as "boiling hot".

Amethyst13 · 13/06/2023 22:50

Also, 111 won't give a shit. We found a dog alone and collapsed in the woods and they told us to just bring it home with us, weren't fussed at all.

Amethyst13 · 13/06/2023 22:51

Not 111, what am I thinking....we called the non emergency police line and the council.

Those dogs are acclimatised, however.

It's incorrect that the council won't do anything. They will. There is also nothing wrong with reporting a neighbour who repeatedly breaches the peace and, when politely asked to stop, refuses to do anything about it. More importantly, an animal is being left in distress; a happy dog does not bark all day long.

I would love a tiled floor, but I don't have one, so a coolmat is the next best thing!

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 13/06/2023 23:12

That poor animal 😞

SecretSwirrel · 13/06/2023 23:34

Has this happened before? They might have accidentally left the dog in the garden? I did this once, he was sitting on the garden table barking all day 🙈. Thankfully it wasn’t too hot though.

IDGAF97 · 14/06/2023 07:18

Personally with the heat that it has been I'd either call animal rescue or climb the fence and get the dog myself when your neighbours come back tell them someone came and collected it as they where worried for its welfare bloody hell wouldn't leave a child out in that heat all day poor thing be yapping cuse he's probably got heat exhaustion you could always put a note through the door too you don't have to say it's you in sure it's annoying other people aswell xx

IDGAF97 · 14/06/2023 07:24

Your wrong actually with it being over 27° here most days at the moment it can take less then 15 mins for a dog to get heat stroke just because there outside doesn't make it less dangerous I'd like to see you sit out in it all day not being able to get in the house probably panicking so that would raise your heart rate and temp why even risk it you'll either come home to a poorly collapsed pooch or a dead one just leave your dog in the house when you go to work or dont get a dog!!

Chermeup · 14/06/2023 07:26

bloody hell wouldn't leave a child out in that heat all day
Brutally that's not comparable. Most dogs (bar some extreme overbreeding) have enough sense to move to shade when needed.
Dogs are out all the time in many many places.
Only concerning thing is if he really had no water. That's bad.

Those dogs are acclimatised, however.
Most dogs around the world deal with actual seasons. We don't have to go to hit countries even. Most europe can be example. It's the owner problem, not "dog can't survive 28c" problem. (exceot some breeds)
Quite frankly, people in uk should learn how to deal with this normally. Every summer everyone panics about summer. And every winter everyone is surprised about winter...

IncognitoMam · 14/06/2023 07:51

Skinnermarink · 13/06/2023 14:36

What a stroke of luck that you had full access to their garden and house via an unlocked back door!

I know it's amazing.

marapournumber4 · 14/06/2023 07:57

Soz but I am laughing at the "boiling hot" and "evaporating water" at 28 degrees. Unless the dog is a husky/malamute or maybe a samoyed then it will be perfectly happy outside in those temps. Even those dogs live in hot countries with minor adjustments. The dog is not going to die of heat stroke sitting in its garden in the shade with a bowl of water in 28degrees. Most dogs in Australia would be running around in the sun at that temp. Then head to the shade and have a drink and a nap.
What type of dog is it OP?
The barking is annoying though. I'm with you there .

You need to report this to your local council as a noise nuisance as it is animal cruelty.

Go to their website and down load a noise diary, complete it and submit it to them.

Do they know the dog barks and whines? It’s not bad for pet owners to leave their pets, they have to work etc. maybe they aren’t aware how the dog reacts when they are gone?

LeedsMum87 · 14/06/2023 10:47

Whilst I disagree with leaving a dog outside in this heat, some of these comments are so unsympathetic to dog owners and obviously have no experience with dogs with separation anxiety. If costs nothing to be kind and have a little empathy.
Sometimes people have to go out and leave their dog at home for whatever reason. People who have dogs with separation anxiety and leave their dogs for 4-5 hours in the daytime are not being selfish or cruel.
Our dog is a rescue and we have to leave her from time to time. We have spend hundreds on a behaviourist to calm her separation anxiety, we have a whole routine to make sure she’s as calm as possible when she’s left, setting up cameras, treats and puzzles to distract her but it doesn’t always work. We leave her 4-5 hours MAX probably half a dozen times a month, always in the house in a cool room and never unsociable hours. Any longer than that we have a dog walker/sitter or she goes to my MIL’s.
We’re gutted when we get comments from the neighbours and always apologise but we’re already doing everything we can.
Have a little compassion, most dog owners love their pets like they’re our family and we most definitely don’t leave them at home barking/howling out of cruelty!

If the dog is that bad your neighbour's are complaining because you leave it several times a month on its own and it has separation anxiety then you need to stop leaving it and find alternative care so someone is with it all the time.

How bloody cruel and yes it is selfish.

LeedsMum87 · 14/06/2023 10:59

You are the exactly the kind of ignorant person I was taking about. It’s impossible for anyone to be at home 100% of the time.

It’s not ignorant. I have a dog with separation anxiety and I don’t leave it to be upset for hours on end, barking and being upset.

It’s exactly why I said alternative care when you are out!!

Try and make yourself feel better all you want but it is cruel and it is selfish.

LeedsMum87 · 14/06/2023 11:04

What alternative care would you suggest? We already leave her with family or have a dog walker come in and take her out for an hour if we’re out more then half a day?

MinionsHooray · 14/06/2023 11:10

Thats for you to figure out, no me.
You give dog owners a bad name.
You would never leave a child hours on end upset screaming & upset several times a month so why would you a dog. Poor thing.

SandandSky · 14/06/2023 11:18

I’d be ringing the RSPCA!
