And let their sodding dog in?

Think terraced house, very small garden, one end has shade, so neighbour has sodded off to work and left their bloody yappy dog shut in the garden for the day!!! It has been barking for 2 hours now!! Aaaaaaaargh!!

OP posts:

Ring the office if she's not answering and you know where she works. The dog shouldn't be left outside all day.

Figgygal · 13/06/2023 11:25

Given the heat id text her again and say if she doesn't come home and put the dog In.youll have to take advice from the police as a welfare concern.
They come out to dogs left in cars after all

Definitely this and please ring the RSPCA as well. This way, not only are you protecting the dog but you are protecting yourself too.

ilovemydog123 · 13/06/2023 11:32

I have a neighbour like that too
Dog cries all day
Another neighbour reported it and they were told as long as the dog has water food it was ok
I can't see that being allowed

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 13/06/2023 09:40

Do they have a gate. Call the dog warden, and then let it out. They clearly don't care about their dog at all!

Let the dog loose to get run over???? Yes, of course OP should do that 🙄
OP Call your neighbour or call dog warden, say the dog has been left outside and is distressed ( the sun will move round so might not always have shade)

ilovemydog123 · 13/06/2023 11:34

Or post a letter I did I put a stamp on it so they wouldn't know it was me
I said that none of the street was happy listening to this poor dog and we was gonna report them
It did go quiet for a bit

ginghamstarfish · 13/06/2023 11:41

I've had this noise nuisance from neighbours leaving their 2 in a cage all day every day, barking every other fecking minute. We moved.

Billyho · 13/06/2023 11:41

GulesMeansRed · 13/06/2023 10:26

Spot the mad doggy person.

Not her circus, not her monkeys. Or not her dog, to be precise. Why on earth would someone want a neighbour's dog in their house?

And yes, call them at work and get them home.

What’s mad about not wanting an animal to suffer? Nothing to do with monkeys and clowns, just empathy!

QueenCamilla · 13/06/2023 11:42

I really don't understand (the British) people on this. Has everyone locked their cats in finally due to "heat"? We wouldn't want them to become a nuisance, overheat or get run over by a car... Oh, wait.. 🙄

Prolonged dog barks are bloody awful. But unless it's frequent, no agency will care. The faux concern for a dog in it's own shaded garden (is there water available? ) is unnecessary. It's just another thing one has to put up with when people choose to keep animals in densely populated areas.

I have a cat flap, the cat can come and go, so will chose … so that’s a non issue.

Sorry, but currently the inside of my house is cooler than the garden (and will be all day dependent on which room you’re in, the dog would have access) so I think locking it outside is cruel.

lieselotte · 13/06/2023 12:00

I wonder how many so called dog lovers will be taking their dogs out for walks this lunchtime.

Those of us who don't like dogs get called all sorts of horrible names, but at least we don't mistreat animals!

lieselotte · 13/06/2023 12:02

No point calling a dog warden as most councils have done away with theirs now. Fantastic timing when dog ownership has increased among the clueless

Monster80 · 13/06/2023 12:03

Can you get some water to the dog? It’s a hot day to be locked outside. Surely the poor thing is distressed. What an awful neighbour.

Chermeup · 13/06/2023 12:03

Dogs outside are fine (in every country but uk...) BUT with water and access to colling in summer, covered ahelter in winter. It's probably barking because it is not used to it.
Really concerning they didn't leave water!

I think dog owners know not to walk dogs in the heat….

you know….. mad dogs and Englishmen.

Not all dog owners are dog lovers…

Crumpleton · 13/06/2023 12:04

I'd call the dog warden. RSPCA tend to think if it's got water it'll be fine.
Dog may have shade and water but the sun moves round
quite quickly at this time of year so hopefully the shade is a solid type and the water isn't heating up to near on burning so the dog can't drink it.

Why is it faux concern from everyone, just because you don't feel it? Are you always incapable of understanding other people's points of view?

And if you’ve read the dog hating threads, some people who don’t like dogs, do mistreat them. .

I really hope that isn't serious advice.

How stupid and irresponsible to let a dog to roam the streets to potentially get run over and killed, or otherwise cause an accident.

MsRosley · 13/06/2023 12:19

She still hasn’t replied to message (read it a while ago).

Yeah, she's embarrassed at being called out. As well she might be.

Water will not heat up to nearly boiling point!!!
It may evaporate. Otherwise it would be absolutely fine to drink.
I don't see a problem with the dog being outside in this heat as long as there are shady spots throughout the whole day and plenty water available all day long.
What I see a problem with, is the fact the dog is stressed from not having access to the house. It may well be warmer in house but the dog needs access to calm down.
They need to leave the door to the garden open or install a decent size cat flap of sorts that the dog can use with ease at will.

Nothingisblackandwhite · 13/06/2023 12:31

If it never happened are you sure it was on purpose ? I never let my dog in the garden when I’m out . Last week I went to the beach with the kids for 3 hours and she managed to escape probably while I was loading the car. I was mortified when I returned and she was running in the garden . Thankfully I live in the middle of a farm so nobody would have been bothered if she barked .

Susuwatariandkodama · 13/06/2023 12:31

Does the dog have shelter, food and water?

My neighbour lets his dog roam the garden all year round but he has built a shed and uses it as a big kennel, all the dogs toys and bedding, water and food are inside it and it has a doggy door.

My DH and his family find it really odd that the dogs live indoors in our country, they are from a very hot country, the dogs can wander in and out of the house if the doors are left open but overall they are kept outside but again they have plenty of water and access to shaded areas.

I literally wrote 'depending on the breed and health' in my post. Did you actually read it?

No 😁

BigCheekBitch · 13/06/2023 12:33

Cats can travel somewhere cool. A dog stuck in a back garden has possibly limited shelter - which I assume is the case if it doesn't even have a bowl of water.

Poor thing. If it keeps up being upset use your garden hose and spray some water over the fence to cool any paving flags and hopefully get the dog wet too. Poor thing.

Thegoodbadandugly · 13/06/2023 12:43

Who on earth would leave a dog out in this heat? Idiots!
