Should I pay?

I signed up to hellofresh free box when the codes were going about, forgot to cancel but I always keep my money in savings and transfer if needed anyways and they’ve sent me 2 boxes which I haven’t paid for and aren’t meals I’d eat and are now chasing payment for them. Has anyone else had this issue?

Of course you need to pay. YOU didn't cancel, it's YOUR responsibility.

pay, cancel the order & learn from this.

Isgooglebroken · 27/08/2022 14:31

You’ve received goods -because you didn’t cancel-so of course you should pay for them. Why should they be out of pocket because you didn’t cancel?

FleursSechees · 27/08/2022 14:31

Lol

byvirtue · 27/08/2022 14:32

Yes you pay. Why didn’t you cancel if you didn’t want them? When you signed up for the free boxes you entered a contract to pay for boxes they send you outside the trial. Your error take some responsibility.

LilacPoppy · 27/08/2022 14:32

What issue? You subscribed so agreed to pay and in return the sent you food. You need to pay then cancel.

giveovernate · 27/08/2022 14:33

What issue? Not paying for stuff I ordered? No, never! I order, I pay.

Simple system, works well.

ny20005 · 27/08/2022 14:33

Two boxes so you received them over two separate weeks & didn't cancel after the first one Confused

Divebar2021 · 27/08/2022 14:34

I can’t quite work out how you can make a mistake and think it somehow absolves you of your financial responsibility? What is the logic?

Deliverooaddict · 27/08/2022 14:35

Why would they send me it though? It’s not something I ordered is it, I didn’t choose those meals

OP posts:
LilacPoppy · 27/08/2022 14:35

You did order it!

LilacPoppy · 27/08/2022 14:36

Or rather you didn't bother to choose the meals you had committed to pay for so they chose for you.

Deliverooaddict · 27/08/2022 14:36

It’s nearly £100

purplewolfie · 27/08/2022 14:36

This is one of the reasons they hook you into free trials- a lot of people forget to cancel on time so they make a bit of money

giveovernate · 27/08/2022 14:37

Deliverooaddict · 27/08/2022 14:36

Best move it out of your savings then! They need to be paid.

Have you cancelled yet?

Didn’t you read the terms & conditions?

If you a) don’t cancel and b) don’t choose, they’ll choose for you and bill you.

Your error. You pay.

Spacerader · 27/08/2022 14:38

You need to pay, you did order them by signing up and not cancelling. If you don't choose your meals then send random ones.

This is on you, and you you accepted delivery of two boxes as well without cancelling, a little cheeky to then expect to not pay.

If you genuinely forgot to cancel you could have refused to take the first one and then cancelled.

GenialHarryGr0ut · 27/08/2022 14:39

It's not a choice.

Next time you sign up for. Freebee cancel at once or if that isn't possible set a reminder on your phone for when you can cancel.

FleursSechees · 27/08/2022 14:39

they send you preselected options when you dont choose them yourself so they wont refund you for this. you have to pay.

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 27/08/2022 14:40

Unfortunately this is how subscriptions work. If you'd called them straight after you received the first they might have given you a discount but you still need to pay. Best cancel asap

peachescariad · 27/08/2022 14:42

Seriously????...the irony though...there's a Hello Fresh ad slap bang in middle of this thread GrinGrinGrin

CantFindTheBeat · 27/08/2022 14:43

I'm sorry to say that you chose to sign up to the trial, offering a free box as your first order.

You had the option to cancel or continue with the service.

You didn't cancel, and as per their terms & conditions, if you don't actively select your weekly options, they will select them for you.

As the saying goes - there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Hello Fresh, Gousto etc are businesses. They do not give free food away out of the goodness of their hearts. They do it to attract new paying customers, either those who try it and like it, or those who try it and can't be bothered to cancel.

You can try to tell them you signed up in error, but why did you let TWO paid boxes arrive, why did you not contact or cancel after the first?

Floralnomad · 27/08/2022 14:44

If you signed up and didn’t cancel them you’ve ordered by default so pay and cancel now .

Deliverooaddict · 27/08/2022 14:45

Right can no one see where I’m coming from? You pay for things before you buy them. You don’t order a Tesco shop, payment doesn’t go through and you still get it anyway. It seems a bit scammy they’re doing this to people who clearly signed up to a free trial and forgot to cancel

It's a subscription service, thats how it works.

Stop going on. You're in the wrong so drop it.
