Should I pay?

I signed up to hellofresh free box when the codes were going about, forgot to cancel but I always keep my money in savings and transfer if needed anyways and they’ve sent me 2 boxes which I haven’t paid for and aren’t meals I’d eat and are now chasing payment for them. Has anyone else had this issue?

It can be hard to see when you live under a bridge

I think everyone is being a bit harsh on the OP.

I don’t think she’s disputing how subscriptions work, I think she’s in disbelief that they sent her the box even though she didn’t pay for it and to be fair would you not agree with that? You wouldn’t receive an unpaid order from Tesco or Amazon!

Love how people jump to conclusions. I’m not in my 30s.

I assume you are in your teens.

it’s a tough lesson. If you sign up to a subscription service they will send you the goods and take your money until you cancel it.

you got the food. It’s an expensive way to grocery shop. The app though is easy to use and you can skip deliveries really easily.

cancel the subscription- the money is gone. It’s a lesson.

but totally your fault.

This is true.

Although OP should have cancelled, it's a sign of a low quality business model to build customer error or apathy to ensure revenue.

Agree with this. Although pp are right and op has to pay of course, I do sympathise. I don't like the practises these companies use. I used hello fresh for a while, and cancelled quite quickly. It was too annoying. If we didn't order our choice of meals in time, even if only half an hour late, there was nothing customer services could do to override it, so ended up paying for meals we didn't want. It was a long-winded method of canceling too. Just not worth it in my opinion.

Hahah, your entitlement is ridiculous. You owe them money for goods, any intelligent person would understand this.

Equally, an intelligent person would probably be able to understand why somebody may at least query receiving goods before having paid for them. A forced sale, if you like. It may be legal, but the morals of marketing practises of companies like this are dubious.

Why would they send me it though? It’s not something I ordered is it, I didn’t choose those meals

It's a rolling order, if you don't log in to alter the automatic selection (that you agreed to by enrolling with them) then it gets dispatched.

You can log in and delay a delivery.

At this point in time you've agreed to their terms and conditions and they will continue to send you whatever are the top three (or more) meals of the week.

Pay the bill. Log in and delay the deliveries for a few weeks, then cancel. This gives them time to cancel your subscription without you getting more unwanted orders.

To be frank you sound a lot less.

LimeTwists · 28/08/2022 23:04

You subscribed. You pay.

You either remember to log in and choose the food you have subscribed to receive, or you don’t and they send you a surprise. You got the latter because you are disorganised.

RealBecca · 28/08/2022 23:14

It's a subscription you didn't cancel. You didnt cancel the trial so they send you stuff.

You saw this as a total freebie didnt you? The company gave you free food to try and get your business, they didnt send you free food as a treat.

So actually you have paid £100 across the 2 meals you subscribed for and the 2 "free" boxes.

Did you try and send the food back? Call customer services? Or did you just eat it and hope you could complain to get more free food?

Yoube had the service, pay for it.
