To flick my daughter the V behind her back?

For context, she's 8 (going on 15 with the attitude and arguing that black is white just for the sake of it) she made some such comment on the way home from school today so I flicked her the v out of pure frustration!

She didn't see. (And even if she did probably has no idea what it means)

BUT.... another mother in the school run saw and I got the filthiest look! Confused

We've all done that.

Or if we haven't, at times we've all wanted to and anyone who says differently is lying out of their arse Grin Grin

I do it all the time to my kids retreating backs. Tend to do it more in the house than in public though as other people are very judgemental.

GrandTheftWalrus · 11/02/2022 16:28

Yeah I've done that many times.

I do tend to keep in to just in the house usually but this week has been so very long and I completely forgot myself for a moment! 🙈😂

Love this!!! Yanbu. Other mother will know that feeling one day.

thebear1 · 11/02/2022 16:30

I do it, gets rid of my annoyance quickly, so less conflict with ds.

Iloveadrianmole · 11/02/2022 16:30

Yep, do it all the time and my two do it to me too - to my face. They are teenagers though!!

Danikm151 · 11/02/2022 16:33

I'm inspired!
I stick to eye rolls atm

LovelyLupins · 11/02/2022 16:34

I do this at hole when my DC13 leaves the room. It’s just letting off steam. I wouldn’t do it in front of/to them or in public.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 11/02/2022 16:34

I'd have poked my tongue out at the other mum but I'm childish....

Baileystruffle · 11/02/2022 16:35

I've gone into another room on my own at home and sworn under my breath. However never done that and certainly never with anyone else (inc child) in same room as me. Have to admit I'd judge horribly if I saw someone doing that.

AvocadoHo · 11/02/2022 16:37

I would just like to stress, I wouldn't dream of doing it to her face and I never verbally swear at her.

It was just frustration and annoyance at her attitude and it diffuses the feelings in me, a way to let off steam.

Yanbu I have said eff off under my breath now and then

HelloKeith · 11/02/2022 16:41

I drove past DS1 on his bike coming the other way this week and did it Grin

MrsDeltaB · 11/02/2022 16:45

I have a double V dance! Both hands up and down alternating! Really does help get rid of the angst and stops me shouting!

I have three girls. I use it. A lot!

Thenose · 11/02/2022 16:47

How would you feel if your partner did the same thing to you in front of the school mums? Would it be okay as long as you didn't see it?

How do you think your daughter will feel if the other mum's kid tells her: "My mum said your mum is horrible 'cause she tells you to fuck off; my mum would never do that"?

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 11/02/2022 16:48

YANBU totally understandable.

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/02/2022 16:52

At some point you will morph into doing it to their faces ... looking at you DS

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/02/2022 16:52

Should have added he's 18!

I'm quite sure my DH does it to me as I certainly do it to him!

And she didn't tell her to fuck off, stop being so dramatic.

Gabbiadini · 11/02/2022 16:53

I usually use the middle finger instead. Often alternating both hands like @MrsDeltaB.

Clymene · 11/02/2022 16:54

Do it all the time. Sometimes mouthing FUCK OFF at them.

I'm 56 Grin

This comic agrees with you 😊

SirChenjins · 11/02/2022 16:56

I’ve done it behind the backs of all of my family when they are really ticking me off. Actually they usually get a middle finger and a mouthed “fuck you”. No-one can see and it makes me feel a whole lot better.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 11/02/2022 17:00

YANBU I've been known do this, and to DH if he annoys me too! I do it to the dog's face, but he doesnt understand and is far less likely to copy Grin
