To flick my daughter the V behind her back?

For context, she's 8 (going on 15 with the attitude and arguing that black is white just for the sake of it) she made some such comment on the way home from school today so I flicked her the v out of pure frustration!

She didn't see. (And even if she did probably has no idea what it means)

BUT.... another mother in the school run saw and I got the filthiest look! Confused

My mum used to do this to my dad and my brother. She never did it to me because I’m an angel 😇😁😂

Hospedia · 11/02/2022 17:02

I often stick my head in the fridge and mutter "fuck my life" to the cheese. I've also been known to flip the Vs at the living room door after DC has flounced out in a huff over something or other. I have even done the "are you shitting me?" whisper from the other room when I've heard DC starting up.

It's venting is all and there is nothing wrong with it.

Adatwistscientist · 11/02/2022 17:06

I love flipping the V it is SO satisfying and I feel also very British. We lived with a Canadian once who was teaching secondary school kids and he kept using it to say "point number 2" and couldn't work out why they were laughing all the way through his lessons.

eekbumbler · 11/02/2022 17:08

I'd smile and laugh as the other mum. The only times I have 'looked' is when said mum says - get on your fucking scooter and ride it to school, followed by bellowing - I told you to stop at the fucking road....

Everyone pulls a face or V's behind their smart arse know it all kids back. It's so subtle I doubt any kid would notice, probably just had 2 itchy nostrils that suddenly calmed themselves 🤣

Goooglebox · 11/02/2022 17:09

One day she'll see.

Hankunamatata · 11/02/2022 17:10

I do a mememememe scrunched up face then eyes to the heaven behind back with clenched fists. And also a for f sake has slipped out when another sibling fight begins. I'm trying to do better though as 8 year old slammed fridge and was like for f sake there's nothing to eat in here Blush

Etinoxaurus · 11/02/2022 17:11

@Thenose

How would you feel if your partner did the same thing to you in front of the school mums? Would it be okay as long as you didn't see it?

How do you think your daughter will feel if the other mum's kid tells her: "My mum said your mum is horrible 'cause she tells you to fuck off; my mum would never do that"?

Oh behave. I shouted ‘bus wanker’ at mine. much older than 8 and not my finest hour. But it was hilarious
oviraptor21 · 11/02/2022 17:12

Never.
Never felt the need to either with my family or anyone else, despite what a PP may think.

mrsnw · 11/02/2022 17:13

I have a 13 year old DD. She does not stop from the time she gets up and ifs she not talking, screaming, omg ing or arguing she's singing. I'm 49 peri menopausal and yearn for quiet. No, v away and then some more. It's endless!!

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 11/02/2022 17:13

I do this to all of mine! My older 2 are adults and we now do it to each other's faces. Mainly in jest tho!

moocow123456 · 11/02/2022 17:13

😂😂😂😂
I wondered if I was the only person that did this.

Sofiegiraffe · 11/02/2022 17:13

The 16 year old flicks me the birdie so I flick it right back. The younger ones (mainly stubborn 9 year old, need the patience of a saint with that one) get it when they are not looking.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/02/2022 17:15

It's funny how these threads go, there was one a few months ago where the OP got annihilated for doing the same (though I seem to recall her child was younger)

I'm well past that now as DS is nearly 18, but it's saved my sanity on numerous occasions.

labyrinthlaziness · 11/02/2022 17:17

I wouldn't do it in public but undoubtedly I have done it in the house when they can't see me!

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/02/2022 17:18

I bet the posters who never do it have family members that do it behind their backs ...

speakout · 11/02/2022 17:18

I totally agree.

If my OH did this behind my back and others saw I wouldn;t be happy.

Very disrespectful.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/02/2022 17:19

I give dh the finger when his heart is playing up and he’s not very nice to live with. Then I feel immediately guilty as fuck & apologise to god.

Rinse and repeat. He’s pampered the rest of the time and I love him unconditionally, but FUCK ME it’s hard living with the sword of Damocles hanging over us on a fraying rope.

MintyGreenDream · 11/02/2022 17:19

I've told my 7 yr old to fuck off under my breath while in another room and done the V too. They test you sometimes.

Amichelle84 · 11/02/2022 17:20

We've all done it.

I called my 18 month old a twat at a baby group once and got a few awkward looks.

Somethingsnappy · 11/02/2022 17:20

Hhmm, I wonder where her fighting spirit comes from... Grin

WWYD2020 · 11/02/2022 17:20

Ha! Yea, I have done that a few times and will continue to, yes mine are much younger too🥲 doesn’t mean they can’t be little arseholes

MintyGreenDream · 11/02/2022 17:20

@Amichelle84 Grin

MedusasBadHairDay · 11/02/2022 17:20

Oh god my DD is the same age, and when she's in a mood she's unbearable. So I've done the same, in the house not in public.. actually that's a lie, I have done it in public but with my hand firmly in my pocket so no one else could see 😂

It's my way of easing the stress, and helps me not lose my temper with her. It's it ideal? Probably not, but in an ideal world she'd never be rude or difficult either 🤷‍♀️

YesIcan3 · 11/02/2022 17:21

Anyone who says they havnt are lying Grin kids are so testing!
