To think that 1 jacket potato is the normal amount to have??

I've been seeing lots of jacket potato photos for some reason in my FB feed. And LOADS of people are having 2 potatoes??? There are normal size jacket potatoes.

Have I been missing a trick?

Just eat as many as you fancy. But yes, I would usually have 1

tintodeverano2 · 03/02/2022 19:15

I might have two if they are tiny, but two normal sized ones would be too much!

AllOfUsAreDead · 03/02/2022 19:16

Two normal sized ones is too much.

Ozanj · 03/02/2022 19:16

Not in my experience. Though I’m a cheese and beans girl so more than 1 would probably make me sick.

Singlebutmarried · 03/02/2022 19:17

We have three between us. But only one if they are huge taters

Gowithme · 03/02/2022 19:17

Yeah I would only eat one - it seems like an awful lot of carbohydrate to me otherwise.

ThinWomansBrain · 03/02/2022 19:17

two small ones would be great because you'd get s better crispy skin:potato ratio

Leeds2 · 03/02/2022 19:18

I only ever have one. But I do choose big potatoes!

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 03/02/2022 19:18

Plain with butter? I’d have 2. Beans and cheese I’d just have one

OfstedOffred · 03/02/2022 19:18

Do you mean two halves shown side by side? Or two full potatoes?

Two halves = normal

Thinking2041 · 03/02/2022 19:18

1.5 each for me and my other half.

Flingingmelon · 03/02/2022 19:19

I'm sure four pack baked potatoes are getting smaller and smaller.

When they were grapefruit sized one, but now they're lemon sized two.

Looubylou · 03/02/2022 19:20

2 would seem greedy - but I could definately manage it, just wouldn't think if it.

PattyPan · 03/02/2022 19:20

I am a big fan of potatoes but would only have one. Even hollow legged DP would only have one, unless they are tiny.

Sunsetsupernova · 03/02/2022 19:21

I’ve definitely noticed the 4 packs getting smaller. Unless it’s a decent sized one, I’d usually do 2 each as 1 seems tiny nowadays

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 03/02/2022 19:21

Baked potatos have shrunk IMHO. They're the size of a cats nuts at the moment Hmm (I know it's because of a bad harvest last year) so at the moment I'd have 2, otherwise I'd start snacking later on in the evening.

This thread sparked a memory...
Of a girl I worked with for many years. She was always trying to lose weight. Gyms and classes and all manner of swimming world's and such.
But I'd watch what she ate a day, belvotta biscuits and carrot sticks with dips and banana and "fun" size mars bars.. lunch for her was jacket spuds...
2 of them, oiled high with beams and cheese or some tuna and sweet corn filler. Plates piled high with "Healthy" food.

She couldn't figure out why she'd never lose weight.
So.. yeah.

My answer is 1 is fine if you've got a metric ton of other shit with it.
2 is fine if you've just got a bit of butter and sprinkle of cheese.

Frankola · 03/02/2022 19:23

I would only eat one.

However, I would secretly want 2.

Have you tasted jacket potatoes?! Food of the gods!!!

User0458832 · 03/02/2022 19:24

I always have one, DH always has two, I am not so keen on them though

emsmar · 03/02/2022 19:25

I want a baked potato now. Egg mayonnaise. Spring onion. Yum.

Montague22 · 03/02/2022 19:25

One potato on a plate leaves too many gaps. I have two.

HarlanPepper · 03/02/2022 19:25

Surely it depends upon the size of the potato. Sometimes they are on the small side.

RedCandyApple · 03/02/2022 19:26

I would have two if it was for dinner but then I only have butter and cheese, I would be hungry still if I only had one!

HarlanPepper · 03/02/2022 19:26

On a related note, I don't think a jacket potato, or even two, is a proper dinner. Lunch, perhaps, but not dinner.

danadas · 03/02/2022 19:26

I'd have two of the frozen ones because they dont seem that big. Disclaimer I am greedy.

When I get one for lunch at work though one seems more than enough as they are massive plus it comes with salad which I can never be arsed with when I do my own.
