I've been seeing lots of jacket potato photos for some reason in my FB feed. And LOADS of people are having 2 potatoes??? There are normal size jacket potatoes.

Have I been missing a trick?

I always do 2 each but I do quite small ones, about the size of a lemon.

IncompleteSenten · 03/02/2022 19:28

1 big one or 2 smaller ones if just with salt and butter

1/2 -1 depending on size if with lots of other stuff.

I want a baked potato with prawns now.

CaptainThe95thRifles · 03/02/2022 19:28

Two potatoes with butter sounds dull but potentially more sufficient than a lonely one. I'd rather have one and something more interesting alongside. It's not a volume issue so much as a tedium issue for me.

RJnomore1 · 03/02/2022 19:28

Too many factors here

Dinner or lunch?
What size of potatoes?
What toppings?
(How hungry are you? )

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 03/02/2022 19:28

I prefer two smaller ones as you get loads of crispy skin that way.

Confrontayshunme · 03/02/2022 19:29

I read an article that said this year's potatoes were smaller due to weather issues, so most of the potatoes in the shops ARE smaller than normal, unless you buy those weird giant bald baking potatoes.

00100001 · 03/02/2022 19:29

@OfstedOffred

Do you mean two halves shown side by side? Or two full potatoes?

Two halves = normal

Two full potatoes.

Normal size jacket potatoes - size of mans fist type size

Depends what with and how big they are. Two mediums with beans and cheese. One large with tuna or chilli

Georgyporky · 03/02/2022 19:30

Define "normal size" ?

DH & I would have 120-150 g between us as part of dinner.

BuickMcKane · 03/02/2022 19:32

Thanks OP I want a jacket spud now Grin

ToWhere · 03/02/2022 19:32

Not 2 proper sized ones but more recent offerings would cook 2 each. Had so many with brown centres lately.

YeOldePotato · 03/02/2022 19:33

I sometimes do 2 small ones as I think the skin is the best bit, and of course they cook quicker too. But if they're "full sized" potatoes I'd definitely not have more than one.

Dasher789 · 03/02/2022 19:42

Iv noticed they are a lot smaller recently and last week I had 2 Blush I usually have 1. I think 2 was probably 1 and a bit of what I used to consider normal as they all seem small now

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 03/02/2022 19:44

As long as you don't eat as many as Brian Harvey, you should be okay 😂.

DearlyBeloathed · 03/02/2022 19:45

Rarely have them, but when I do I have two small ones.

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/02/2022 19:46

Depends on the size of the potato

ravenmum · 03/02/2022 19:50

My son is six foot four and sporty. A large baked potato to him is like a tiny new potato to me.

Monopolyiscrap · 03/02/2022 19:54

Jacket potatoes used to be enormous and I never knew anyone who had two. Now they are much smaller. So one is a small portion and two is a large portion.

tillyandmilly · 03/02/2022 19:55

I eat two baked potatoes with beans and mushrooms no butter though - one is not enough!

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 03/02/2022 19:55

The real question is why are people posting pictures of jacket potatoes on FB? Confused

Bellie710 · 03/02/2022 19:56

We quite often have the McCain frozen Baked potatoes I will have 1 DH 2 but sometimes they can be tiny. If you make your own and start from scratch 1 is too much for me and perfect for Dh.

blyn72 · 03/02/2022 19:56

One big one is quite enough, with lovely filling. Two if the potatoes are on the small side.

WonderfulYou · 03/02/2022 19:59

I want a baked potato now. Egg mayonnaise. Spring onion. Yum.

Egg Mayo on a baked potato!!!

I love egg Mayo but only in sandwiches I’m not sure I’d like it with potato though.

For me it’s tins Mayo or cheese & beans.

As others have said it depends on the size. However having two isn’t that bad as potatoes are good for you - as long as you’re not having twice the filling to go with it.
