Do you take your wedding ring off?

In theory, I like the idea that he put it on me and it will always stay there, however also, I work as a primary teacher and my ring has diamonds in it so surely I’ll need to take it off to get the paint/glue/snot out properly?

Well I have to to wash my hands!

Hepzibar · 25/09/2021 20:32

No. Not taken it off since it went on.

ParkheadParadise · 25/09/2021 20:33

Yes, I take my rings off occasionally, when I'm doing craft shite😜 or baking with dd.

CovidCorvid · 25/09/2021 20:33

I never wear mine. I lift weights and ride bikes a lot and it feels uncomfortable when I’m doing stuff. I sometimes think about a silicone ring but to be honest I can’t be bothered.

VerbenaGirl · 25/09/2021 20:33

Mine comes off when I deal with raw Meat or do some serious gardening.

Highflyingadored · 25/09/2021 20:33

I take mine off when decorating and also Icing cakes or they get covered in horrid stuff.

To be honest I dont wear my wedding band as I have 2 eternity rings with my engagement ring.

I also take them off to give my finger a rest

My mum has only ever taken hers off a handful of times in 40 years... but her finger hasnt rotted away. However she doesnt have pokey out bits on hers

MissCruellaDeVil · 25/09/2021 20:34

Rarely except on hot nights as it gets tight.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/09/2021 20:35

Yes I take mine off. Barely wear it actually Blush. I just don't like wearing rings, never have.

Doesn't make me any less married.

HungryHippo11 · 25/09/2021 20:35

I took mine off twice today, first to draw around my hands for a craft activity with my daughter, and again to knead some dough because it gets all gungy. Generally I only take it off for messy stuff like that, or swimming

TheGrumpyGoat · 25/09/2021 20:35

Rarely. Sometimes if I’m baking or cooking something messy that gets stuck round it.
Don’t take it (or my engagement ring) off to wash my hands or shower etc.

Giraffe888 · 25/09/2021 20:36

I never take mine off

Greytminds · 25/09/2021 20:36

I take mine off every night, sometimes as soon as I get home from being out or when I change into PJs. Prefer not to wear them at night or when doing anything messy.

JLQ1020 · 25/09/2021 20:36

Yeah I usually wear them but when cleaning or sleeping I take them off. Also now I'm pregnant fingers tend to swell so I've taken to wearing them on a necklace

DedalusBloom · 25/09/2021 20:36

I take mine off periodically to clean them and then they go straight back on. I don't want to be without them but neither do I subscribe to the idea that once on they should never come off.

holidaynearlyover · 25/09/2021 20:36

When covid began and I was teaching in school I stopped wearing my ring due to reading something about germs getting caught under it- I wear it now in school as although probably true I don't believe I'll catch covid from it any more 🤣

mynameiscalypso · 25/09/2021 20:38

I took mine off as a precaution when I was pregnant in case my fingers got too swollen. I haven't got round to putting it back on. DS is 2 now.

Surreyhillsbutnobike · 25/09/2021 20:38

Never wear it, nor does he wear his, 30 years married

KingdomScrolls · 25/09/2021 20:39

My wedding ring and engagement ring have stones, when I was a student I worked in a jewellers and follow the advice given there. I take mine off every morning and put them on a ring dish, shower, get ready, do make up, hair, perfume and only when I'm done do they go back on. Lots of things dull gemstones. My marriage is solid because it is, it's not dependent on whether or not i take my rings off, when I was pregnant my fingers got swollen and I had to take them off for the last few weeks, didn't lead to divorce.

IngridTails · 25/09/2021 20:39

I can't get it off, I didn't have sausage fingers 11 years ago.

Ditto!

I take both my engagement and wedding rings off at night. My engagement ring is a solitare and I worry it was scratch/ get caught on the bedding. At the moment my fingers and hands are swollen due to chemo so I'm not wearing either for a day or so. In particular a vein in my ring finger is swollen and it's sore to wear them.

HereForThis · 25/09/2021 20:41

I take mine off just along with any piece of jewelry once I get home. I've never understood wearing rings through messy cooking, etc. So unhygienic.

It's a piece of jewelry, not a ball and chain for my finger.

I would just never remember to put mine back on if I did this! I should really look after the diamond in my engagement ring better than I do.
badg3r · 25/09/2021 20:42

I've never taken mine off but it's really cheap and doesn't get damaged by soap, perfume etc.

Verbena87 · 25/09/2021 20:42

Never take mine off really, but it’s a plain d-shaped cross-section band and fairly narrow, so it doesn’t get clagged up with dough/Earth/paint, and there are no stones to fall out or catch on stuff. It is scratched to high heaven but I don’t mind.

My engagement ring has an opal and only gets worn very occasionally as it’s fragile.
