Huge row with sister on holiday

Honey12346 · 23/06/2021 15:45

I'm on holiday with sister and cousin and we are going today to a small cute little island to spend two nights there. I have booked us a rent a car for this that I have paid (I can afford it) to make our lives easier, rather than taking the bus...

My cousin has went to pick up the car as she is driving and they asked for a security deposit that she cannot afford. She called my sister and I overheard the conversation. Instead of asking me if I can pay for the security deposit they started discussing can they cancel the car etc. So basically acting as if I'm not going on this trip, not even asking for my input. When I could solve this problem in 2 seconds as I can afford the deposit!

Then I overheard my sister saying the fact that I even booked this car was stressful for her???

So let me get this straight, I have booked and paid for a car and my cousin is driving. All my sister literally has to do is sit in the car and this is stressful for her???

I ran out after hearing this and I am now sitting in a park crying. My sister is calling me.

Yabu - I did something wrong
Yanbu - my sister is being a bitch

As for why this is classified as a huge row, there might have been some words exchanged as I was exiting the accommodation...

YANBU

You're both being ridiculous. Why didn't you just say to your sister "oh I'll pay the deposit"...

araiwa · 23/06/2021 15:48

What is this I don't even

Hoppinggreen · 23/06/2021 15:48

I think you are all a bit dramatic ,unable to communicate with eachother properly and need to go on holiday with other people next time

FoggyDay58 · 23/06/2021 15:48

Sounds like neither of them wanted to hire a car.

Shoxfordian · 23/06/2021 15:49

Why have you run off crying instead of just saying “I’ll pay the deposit, pass me the phone”

Overthebow · 23/06/2021 15:50

All being very dramatic. This should have been easy and quick to sort out. No need for you to be crying in a car park over this.

HilaryBriss · 23/06/2021 15:51

Perhaps they didn't want to ask you to pay the security deposit knowing that you had already paid the hire charge.

I also think you are being a bit of a drama llama, running out and crying in the park, really?

sixthtimelucky · 23/06/2021 15:51

More to this I imagine...

Maybe she doesn't like having things paid for when she can't afford them

Maybe you kept going on about it

Maybe she didn't like to ask you

Maybe she can't be arsed with a car

Whattheactualfk · 23/06/2021 15:52

Sounds like your cousin is put out that you essentially ordered a taxi driver for yourself and then didn't warn her she would have to pay a large deposit when you sent her to collect it.

DisgruntledPelican · 23/06/2021 15:52

You need to speak to them, this is madness

GenderApostatemk2 · 23/06/2021 15:53

Are you twelve? 🙄

ChaosMoon · 23/06/2021 15:53

You're both being a bit ridiculous. Unless there is a lot more to this.

Honey12346 · 23/06/2021 15:53

I did say I will pay for the deposit and she just ignored me!

OP posts:
Sensateria · 23/06/2021 15:54

Sounds like they’d both have been perfectly happy getting the bus.

Maybe she’s pissed off at being designated driver without being asked.

Maybe she just wanted to sit on the bus and be driven and chill.

Notimeforaname · 23/06/2021 15:54

Why didn't you just say ''I have the money lets go?'' And when you suggested booking the car..what did they say about it ? Did you just expect your cousin to drive or were they happy to?

Randomness12 · 23/06/2021 15:55

Wow, you sound like hardwork. Why wouldn’t you just say, don’t worry pass my the phone I’ll sort it?

nimbuscloud · 23/06/2021 15:56

Did any of you actually want to go on this holiday?

Notimeforaname · 23/06/2021 15:56

Are you twelve?🙄
Yes I was thinking must be very young.

Honey12346 · 23/06/2021 15:56

@Whattheactualfk

And that's totally fair but that could have been shorted in two seconds if she let me transfer her the money

Sorted*

Sensateria · 23/06/2021 15:57

In fact it sounds like the only persons life being made easier by this is yours.

Your cousin’s had to go and pick the car up and sort this deposit thing out and she’ll be doing all the driving, meanwhile you’re what? Sat by the pool or in your accommodation?

Honey12346 · 23/06/2021 15:58

@Notimeforaname

Yes that was the original deal we all agreed to, my cousin was gonna drive and book, but when she looked up cars she said they were all out of her price range so I booked it instead
