To want a washing machine that does a wash in under 3 bloody hours

DuckyMcDuck · 01/12/2020 21:20

Our 8 1/2 year old washing machine has died and so searching for new one.

Obviously haven't bought one for a while and can't believe all the basic 40 degree washes are around 180-200 minutes. Our old one was 80 minutes.

We always buy Bosch but it seems they're all the same. Am I missing something here?

OP posts:

My John Lewis machine has a "quick" option for almost every programme. It seems to take between 30-80 minutes depending on programme, temperature and weight of load and often beats its own time estimates.

Bajalaluna · 03/12/2020 00:43

Where abouts in the country are you op? I'm in South West and soon to be selling my much loved (and only a year old!) Samsung eco bubble addwash for £100. Does a 15 and 30 min quick wash, and the normal daily wash is only an hour too. I absolutely love it, but trading in for an intergrated when new kitchen arrives. Would highly recommend if you can get one on offer/second hand. It's a brilliant machine. Wish I could afford the intergrated version!

We have the Hoover Dynamic. It offers rapid washes of 15, 30, 40 mins and can choose the temperature for each duration. I usually wash baby's clothes on a 15 min/30 degrees if not many to put on but if a wash is needed.

inappropriateraspberry · 03/12/2020 13:26

Also the Hoover dynamic has a weight sensor on some of the settings, so will cut the time down if not a full load.

PorpoiseSpitGazzette · 05/12/2020 14:50

What was the diagnosis OP ? You all fixed up now ?

Toiletrollbuyer · 05/12/2020 15:38

I have a Bosch vario series 6 that has a ‘quick’ option for all the wash programs. It also has a mixed load wash which at 40 degrees takes 1:05. The machine is only 6 months old

Snowberry3 · 06/10/2022 12:50

I live in Scotland - I zDO NOT need to conserve water.
I suspect that having a long cycle with low water input means you are leaning towards using more electricity but less water when in the present situation we need the opposite.

vix3rd · 06/10/2022 12:54

I have the Samsung with the door to add washing into the wash. It has a Superspeed wash which is an hour @ 40 degrees , a 15 minute cold - 30 degree wash & a huge variety of other washes.
It was £800 so not cheap but I love it.

CombatBarbie · 06/10/2022 12:58

Kenwood here, normal mix wash is 1hr 13, I usually use the sports wash at 30 degrees which is 45 mins. Quick wash is 15 mins.

StarlightLady · 06/10/2022 13:03

A lot of the longer washes spend the majority of time soaking, hence the energy saving. Most new machines also have shorter washes.

So confused you've just activated a zombie thread from 2020 🧟‍♂️

OhmygodDont · 06/10/2022 13:09

ZOMBIE I nearly posted a recommendation 😅

xogossipgirlxo · 06/10/2022 13:10

Eco and cotton cycles tend to be long. Colours / mixed fabrics etc. are like 90 mins.

😶Well spotted.

@DuckyMcDuck Eh?

My washing machine has 2 eco washes... 15 minutes - and 30 minutes. Confused What fuckery is this? That the lowest/quickest setting is 3 to 3.5 hours? Never known anything like it.

Approximately 70% of the washing that I do, is on the 15 or 30 min eco wash, as it's not dirty but just needs a quick and warm rinse through. It's only a BUSH washing machine, nothing fancy, and cost only cost around £200-230 (can't remember the exact right price now,), but it works great.

Got it 18 months ago when my old one fell off its perch after 15 years of use, in the Springtime of 2021.

StarlightLady · 06/10/2022 13:15

Ahhhhhhh! I've be done again 😱

I have a Samsung and the standard 40 degree wash is 1.03

Got a new one recently and the guy we called to try to fix the old one recommended Samsung so went with that. Perfect wash at 40 degrees lasts 110 minutes but there is some quicker ones too that l haven't totally explored yet.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 06/10/2022 13:17

Oh it's a clucking zombie! Confused

@Snowberry3 WHY did you rake this up from 2 years ago? When you called it up, it would have said 'heads up, this thread has not been posted on for more than a year. Start a new one!' How irksome! Hmm

TellMeWhere · 06/10/2022 13:18

I'm not in the UK but my cheapo Candy washing machine has a whole bunch of quick cycles from 15-60mins. The long cycles are ridiculous. Some of them are over 4 hours. Who wants to wait 4 hours for a wash?!

Coastalcreeksider · 06/10/2022 13:20

Longdistance · 01/12/2020 21:33

My Hoover washing machine does a good few quick washes. The quickest is 14 minutes. The one I use is 59 minutes (couldn’t be 60 minutes could it? 🙄).

My High Sense washing machine is the same, 59 mins for 40 degrees wash. I use this one most of the time as it is mixed fabrics. There is also a 15 min quick wash. I think I can change the temp on the washes as well which is handy.

KnottyKnitting · 06/10/2022 13:20

I have a Bosch and the mixed wash (40 degrees with option to change to 30) on eco setting is 45mins. There is also a quick wash which can be 30 or 15mins and the cotton wash (60 degrees) on eco setting is just over an hour. I see very little difference in the cleanliness so always use the eco setting.

maddy68 · 06/10/2022 13:31

I have a new one and it has a 45 min eco wash.

DemelzaandRoss · 06/10/2022 13:31

I have a newish Bosch washing machine. There is a speed button which reduces the washing time to 1 hour.

OhmygodDont · 06/10/2022 13:36

🧟‍♀️ ZOMBIE 🧟‍♂️ @MNHQ can we have a warning like a huge one ⛔️
