To ask what's a "chore" you never do?

Just wondering what chores, or jobs as we call them, you never do? Whether it's one nobody in your household does or one that is just someone else's job in your dynamic?

We never iron. All our clothes come straight out the wash and are folded or put on hangers and put away. I don't work and DP gets to wear jeans and a t shirt to work so we don't really have things that need to be ironed. We own an iron but it's sat in the same spot for over 6 months.

So what's a job you never do in your own home? Bins out? Dusting? Changing the bed sheets? Or am I just very relaxed about clothing?

I don't iron unless for weddings or similar. There's probably lots of chores I don't do but I live in blissful ignorance.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 28/05/2019 20:26

I never make any beds unless changing the sheets or having an Estate Agent round to take photos.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 28/05/2019 20:27

Putting the clean washing away. Absolutely hate it. DH does ours and the kids do their own, I refuse.

Bollockwort · 28/05/2019 20:27

I never clean the bin - DH does it in exchange for me doing the shower!

Ivegotthree · 28/05/2019 20:27

I never dust. Nor does our cleaner, by the looks of it.

cerealspiller · 28/05/2019 20:28

I cannot and will not touch the bins. DP gets extremely annoyed at me for this but everything about it sends shivers up my spine

pickletickled · 28/05/2019 20:29

I never clean the oven - DH does it. I'll happily do anything else just not that.

LadyCassandra · 28/05/2019 20:29

I refuse to clean the toilet. I live with DH and 2 boys who are less “direct” with their peeing than me so it’s DH’s job.
We never iron unless absolutely necessary. My mum thinks we’re strange. DH and I both have memories of our mums standing for hours ironing.

cerealspiller · 28/05/2019 20:29

Put them out, that is, I can put rubbish into them...

xSharonNeedlesx · 28/05/2019 20:29

I don’t empty the bin. I tell dh it’s because I’m too short to lift it all the way out but it’s just because I hate it!

looselegs · 28/05/2019 20:33

I never cook- hate it! Hubby does all the cooking, plus 90% of the shopping and housework 😊

ErrantTesselation · 28/05/2019 20:35

I never iron either. DH occasionally does if he needs a smart shirt for a special occasion.

Mabellavender · 28/05/2019 20:35

Dh empties the bins changes bed sheets and does all outside jobs. He also feed the dogs and picks up their shit Envy

Mowly75 · 28/05/2019 20:37

Well OP I certainly never iron anything. Don’t even own an ironing board. But when I did I did enjoy ironed sheets. No dusting either unless it’s with my sleeve unless it gets really bad. I quite like hoovering though.

Notthetoothfairy · 28/05/2019 20:37

Cleaning.

ladybee28 · 28/05/2019 20:37

Normal chores or MN chores? Grin

I don't wash my doorhandles (never met anyone IRL who does this but there was a thread a while back that was crawling with doorhandle-scrubbers)

In non MN-land, however, I will not pull hair out of the shower drainpipe . I live with DP who has very little hair and DSS who's short-haired. It's almost definitely all my hair down there. But I just CANNOT pull it out to clean that pipe. I have no right to make DP do it. But I do hangs head

Laurajjj · 28/05/2019 20:38

Skirtings and the stairwell balusters

speakout · 28/05/2019 20:38

I don't make the bed except when changing sheets.
I don't take out the bins- OH does that.
I don't mow the lawn- OH does that.
I don't clean out the fridge- OH does that.

rosie1959 · 28/05/2019 20:39

Hate cooking my DH is a brilliant cook and he enjoys it so he dies it when time allows
The rest of household tasks I do as well as most of the gardening and decorating
Never quite worked out how people don't iron would be some crabby looking garments if they weren't ironed and yes they are hung up properly to dry

origamiunicorn · 28/05/2019 20:39

Ironing. I've learnt to hang my washing in a way that only one shirt of mine will need a press before wearing. It's actually quite liberating. Grin

rosie1959 · 28/05/2019 20:40

Does it not dies he is much better than that ! Bloody autocorrect

pollysproggle · 28/05/2019 20:41

I'm really good at keeping my house clean but I never ever clean my windows. Just don't see the point.

Walkamileinmyshoesbeforeujudge · 28/05/2019 20:42

I have never fed my ddogs!
Or put a bin out.
Or cleaned the oven.
Or changed my wheels.

SlimGin · 28/05/2019 20:43

Came on to say windows. If my mum visits she'll sometimes do them but I really don't care about them.
We also never garden. I've paid someone once to hack down all the weeds and will do that again once our tenancy is up.

NaughtyAmeliaJaneridesagain · 28/05/2019 20:44

I don't put the bins out, or empty the kitchen bins 😀 . My DH feels it is his role !!
He is very efficient at it it too! I am not going to object!! 🤣
