To ask what's a "chore" you never do?

Just wondering what chores, or jobs as we call them, you never do? Whether it's one nobody in your household does or one that is just someone else's job in your dynamic?

We never iron. All our clothes come straight out the wash and are folded or put on hangers and put away. I don't work and DP gets to wear jeans and a t shirt to work so we don't really have things that need to be ironed. We own an iron but it's sat in the same spot for over 6 months.

So what's a job you never do in your own home? Bins out? Dusting? Changing the bed sheets? Or am I just very relaxed about clothing?

LiquidSwords, do you sleep under just a sheet, is that it? Not even a blanket?

If I'm in a hurry I don't wear my glasses when cleaning.

Popuppippa · 28/05/2019 22:36

Ironing - we have 2 irons and ironing boards that are never used
Washing up - Everything in the dishwasher
Pegging out washing - it goes straight in the tumble dryer
Cleaning bathrooms now I have a cleaner who I LOVE more than life itself
Cooking - I've outsourced most of it to DH. I'm still happy to chop a salad though Grin

Yes, don't worry though I don't live in the UK, I'm not crazy! ;)

RaininSummer · 28/05/2019 22:40

Washing windows and cars doesn't happen except maybe wiping car lights and windscreen if needed. Also have never cleaned an oven other than collecting burned things off the bottom. Doesn't seem to need it. Maybe that's because I don't cook joints of meat so no splatter?

EnglishRose13 · 28/05/2019 22:52

I'm not allowed to load the dishwasher as I do it wrong, apparently.

When I'm feeling mischievous I move things around in there to annoy him.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 28/05/2019 22:55

Cleaning the oven, we get someone to come in and do it, I've every 9-12 months and I always make sure I'm out and DH is at home when they come, he hasn't twigged yet!

HelpIcantfindaname · 28/05/2019 22:58

I don't clean my oven often enough. I cant change a wheel. I very rarely dust the bedrooms, especially spare room & DDs. But I do garden, do all housework, clean car, decorate. I do iron (hate it but cant seem to manage not to). No DH to share jobs with, but as I work full time think it's high time DD10 helped out. Maybe cleaning oven can be her job (in my dreams)

Hadenoughofitall441 · 28/05/2019 23:06

We sort of delegate, living in a big house there’s a lot and as I live with my mum aswell it’s mostly us. I mostly iron and she hoovers but everything else is split, washing, cleaning, taking the bins out. We don’t mop that often....

Geekynzmum · 28/05/2019 23:10

I do a lot and will give any job a go at least once.
Jobs I've never done though are cleaning the gutters and washing the curtains (vacuumed them but not washed them).

YesQueen · 28/05/2019 23:16

I've never washed a duvet either. Mine weren't expensive and it worked out cheaper to buy a new one (super king, won't fit in wash) so I bought a new one and donated the old one to the local dog rescue who were v pleased with my pillow/duvet haul!

heroineinahalfshell · 28/05/2019 23:37

We don't clean the oven. Ever.
I don't iron and DH only does it for a night out (and he wears shirt & tie for work every day).
I won't wash the car even tho I use it daily for work.
We vacuum loads but only wash the floors approx once a quarter.

GlitterPixie · 28/05/2019 23:39

I don’t even own an iron

ohtheholidays · 28/05/2019 23:43

I don't iron clothes,my DH does all of the ironing,we used to do it between us but I became ill and ended up disabled and I just can't use the iron anymore.

I think that is the only plus of being seriously ill and becoming disabled because I bloody hated ironing! Grin

pineapplebryanbrown · 29/05/2019 00:02

I do actually wipe door handles, light switches and banisters - gives me the willies thinking about all the hands on it. I also open doors in public places with my hand covered by my sleeve.

In my defence I never iron, hoover, clean the oven, clean the fridge, put away clean washing or make the beds. I bought a robot hoover who I love ❤ with an intense passion.

So I'm a slattern with detolled doorknobs.

BlackeyedGruesome · 29/05/2019 00:06

door handle cleaning is easy, just walk wherever you need to go without rinsing the soap off your hands, does for going up and down stairs as well and bannisters. lazy fucker

I washed the curtains, when I moved in

pineapplebryanbrown · 29/05/2019 00:20

Gruesome I would Dettol you for that behaviour.

Bumper1969 · 29/05/2019 00:29

I live alone.
New shiny house.
I spend about an hour on Saturdays on floors and bathroom.
Beyond that I do nothing beyond stacking dish washer and quick dinners.
I NEVER clean ovens, fridges, windows etc. I go on holidays and pay for that.

augustusglupe · 29/05/2019 00:41

I’ve never cleaned an oven, DH does it and I don’t clean bathrooms anymore DH does those too. Also DH cleans the kitchen.
I do the dusting, hoovering, ironing.

Cruelstepmother · 29/05/2019 00:46

Let's just say my house has an award-winning collection of cobwebs!

puppylovebaby · 29/05/2019 00:55

Clean the oven... I might do it once a year if you are lucky!
Bins- DH empties the kitchen bin to the wheely bin and then puts the bins out each week. DS 11 is now old enough to do it if DH is away.
Mow the grass- another 'blue job'....
I however, iron, clean, change beds, organise the kids and much more

Fedoratheexploreer · 29/05/2019 00:58

I do basically everything except for cleaning up after the dog. Whether that be poo or sick, I just can’t stomach it. So DH does rhat
