To ask what's a "chore" you never do?

Just wondering what chores, or jobs as we call them, you never do? Whether it's one nobody in your household does or one that is just someone else's job in your dynamic?

We never iron. All our clothes come straight out the wash and are folded or put on hangers and put away. I don't work and DP gets to wear jeans and a t shirt to work so we don't really have things that need to be ironed. We own an iron but it's sat in the same spot for over 6 months.

So what's a job you never do in your own home? Bins out? Dusting? Changing the bed sheets? Or am I just very relaxed about clothing?

I pay my Mum to clean the whole house. I hate cleaning. I never iron either. Until DH moved in, I didn't own an iron.

My step-dad does the gardening too!

LiquidSwords · 29/05/2019 16:37

I don't think my clothes look creased at all really. I never iron but do hang them all.

That said, would it really matter if my clothes were creased anyway? Wouldn't really bother me.

ChodeofChodeHall · 29/05/2019 16:39

Ok, so some people refuse to believe we even exist, others are watching and judging us for how crumpled we look.

Much easier just to not bother ironing! 😆

Toddlerteaplease · 29/05/2019 16:44

I've never cleaned the oven. In the 10
Years I've lived in the house.

WheresAllTheGoodInTheWorld · 29/05/2019 17:21

Put the hoover away. I don't know why. I hoover each day and I leave the hoover by the cupboard for dp to put away. It can sit there for hours lol. I just dont know why either it's so silly.

Lllot5 · 29/05/2019 17:21

I live alone so do everything, well sons or son in law does the grass. No car, no dishwasher. I like cleaning and love doing laundry.
Thing I think is not to make a mess in the first place.
All books are arranged in alphabetical order by author and in reading order. All cupboards tins etc are in straight lines.
Clothes in drawers are folded and put away, wardrobe is arranged on wooden hangers all facing the same way organised by colour.

DH does:
Bins,
Everyday cooking (he loves it, I do baking)
Shopping
Floors,
Gardening,
Morning tea and toast for me in bed
Oven cleaning
Load and unload dishwasher
Cleans main bathroom and downstairs loo
Hangs up washing
Lights sitting room open fire
Puts covers on duvets
Changes cat litter

I do:
Paper work, car tax, insurance etc
Stuff to do with properties we let out,
Holiday bookings
Put things in washing machine
Clean en suite bathroom
Water conservatory plants

Our cleaner was ill at Christmas and we haven't got around to replacing her; we have just been away for a couple of weeks and I am quite shocked to come home and notice dust accumulation, so I will probably deal with that.

DH is a treasure.

All of them

NaomifromMilkshake · 29/05/2019 19:23

Just for clarification, I don't iron, I pay someone to do so. I do like nicely ironed clothes.

Accountant222 · 29/05/2019 21:12

I don't clean cupboards out ever, when I move house I obviously have to then, I lived in my last house 24 years and kitchen was maybe 15 years old, we sold for development so it was demolished, no point getting the bugger sparkling.

hellooosweetheart · 29/05/2019 21:55

I very rarely iron anything- even school uniforms. I never put the bin out/ take it in. Dp does that. I do clean the loo though, so that compensates for that.

hellooosweetheart · 29/05/2019 21:57

We never clean the windows

itssquidstella · 29/05/2019 22:05

Ironing. Cleaning inside cupboards.

Justhalf · 30/05/2019 01:25

Mow the lawn. My Hayfever is awful, it's totally a DH job, like mines cleaning the bathrooms. He'll do anything but that.

FurrySlipperBoots · 30/05/2019 01:29

I never change lightbulbs! Fragile glass and electricity are 2 things that really scare me, so together? No.

OldAndWornOut · 30/05/2019 01:33

I never move the furniture; just Hoover round it.

Ragwort · 30/05/2019 22:50

I ever mow the lawn either, don’t have hay fever but I suppose I am being totally sexist in assuming my DH will do it (he’s near complained in 30 years Grin). When I lived alone I paid someone to do it.

grumpycatgrumpycat · 30/05/2019 23:00

Cooking or food shopping - OH does all of that, including making purées for the baby.

He has, however, never washed a single item of clothing in the 11 years we have been together. I don’t even think he’s put a single item of clothing into the washing basket.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 30/05/2019 23:11

Clean the oven.
Iron unless for a special occasion.
Clean the outside of the windows.
Mow the lawn - that one gets done by DH.
