To ask what's a "chore" you never do?

Just wondering what chores, or jobs as we call them, you never do? Whether it's one nobody in your household does or one that is just someone else's job in your dynamic?

We never iron. All our clothes come straight out the wash and are folded or put on hangers and put away. I don't work and DP gets to wear jeans and a t shirt to work so we don't really have things that need to be ironed. We own an iron but it's sat in the same spot for over 6 months.

So what's a job you never do in your own home? Bins out? Dusting? Changing the bed sheets? Or am I just very relaxed about clothing?

I also never iron unless it badly needs doing which is rare. I've never ironed jeans and t shirts.

Sickofphd · 28/05/2019 21:54

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my aversion to ironing Grin I specifically pick items when shopping based on how much ironing they need.

I don't do the laundry either or make the bed, that's DH's bag!

spaniorita · 28/05/2019 21:54

I hardly do any chores GrinNever bins though.

Sickofphd · 28/05/2019 21:54

Sorry X post!

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/05/2019 21:55

even if I was just in jeans and a t-shirt I would feel like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards if I didn't iron them first

Nah. I live in east London. No-one irons. Ironing would imply you've made an effort when the name of the game is to look effortlessly stylish and have just thrown your outfit together without thinking (even though really you've spent 4 days on Instagram looking for ideas). Grin

TeachesOfPeaches · 28/05/2019 21:55

Lived in current flat for 4 years and I've never cleaned the windows even though it is ground floor.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 28/05/2019 21:56

We don't iron.
I don't put the buns out that's DH's job.

MrsMaisel · 28/05/2019 21:56

I don't pull the hair out of the plug hole [boak]

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 28/05/2019 21:57

Ooh I don't mow the lawn or clean the oven either - DH does lawn & our cleaner does the oven.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 28/05/2019 21:57

Such slatterns! Grin

Kahlua4me · 28/05/2019 21:58

I don’t ever clean or wash my car. Occasionally I will empty the rubbish from it, although there isn’t much of that.

Dc strip and remake all our beds.
DS and dh put the bins and recycling out every week.
Dd feeds the dog twice a day.
So I don’t do any of them.

I also don’t do the paperwork filing. Dh agreed that was his job when we got married and has kept to it!

Echobelly · 28/05/2019 21:59

Dusting, hardly ever. For most surfaces the cleaner does it. Nooks and corners I may do if they are blatantly cobwebby, but that's it.

I seldom do windows as I just seem to make them more smeared than ever!

WatchingTheWheels85 · 28/05/2019 21:59

Iron or mow the lawn.

YesQueen · 28/05/2019 22:00

@SmiledWithTheRisingSun I like to think of it as supporting the community Wink when I farm out my oven cleaning and carpet cleaning Grin

HazelBite · 28/05/2019 22:00

My DM never ironed (we were a big family) I never iron, I lived in a house with Dh and four sons. DS2 is very fussy and irons all his designer shirts.
One DIL enjoys ironing Shock the other is like her MIL Grin

paintwater · 28/05/2019 22:02

Ironing
Iron only gets used for attaching iron-on nametags to things

pilates · 28/05/2019 22:04

Mow the lawn and clean the car

LiquidSwords · 28/05/2019 22:08

I don't make the bed except when changing sheets

I don't even "make it" when changing the sheets Grin Just put the new mattress cover on and chuck the clean sheet on top (I don't use a duvet), done!

Making the bed. One of the most pointless wastes of time I've ever heard of!

UrbanMage · 28/05/2019 22:09

I don't iron or clean windows. DH does the bins and helps when my back aches.

I do clean my doors though and I wipe over all the cupboard ones every couple of days.

weegiemum · 28/05/2019 22:13

Iron (funerals or weddings only)
Dust, mop floors, clean bathrooms (cleaner) though I do chuck some bleach at toilets in between cleans.
Bins (dh, my disability means I just can't).
Cleaning out animals - I nag children but don't do it myself!

Closetlibrarian · 28/05/2019 22:15

The washing. DH has always done it. Gets very cross if I go near his washing machine, to the point that I don’t know how to use it.

Carpetburns · 28/05/2019 22:18

@Thehogfatherstolemycurry

Like you, I hate putting clean washing away. I put it in piles and take it to each person's bedroom and leave it in a pile on the drawers where it stays until it gets worn again.

TowerRingInferno · 28/05/2019 22:19

Clean upstairs windows
Clean the car

agirlhasnonameX · 28/05/2019 22:19

Don't iron and don't own one (my DM irons socks and dish towels Hmm)

Don't make the bed- DP does it or it doesn't get done.

Don't do washing- DP criticised my washing regime and have left him to it ever since 😂

Don't clean the bath- (DP) have always hated it for some reason.

grupple · 28/05/2019 22:20

I was trying to think of something I don't do, and frankly struggling, I even do all the DIY.

Then I realised that I almost never make phone calls, that's DH's area of expertise, talking.
