To be Gutted that Roseanne has been cancelled

I know her tweets were abhorrent but I was loving the reboot. I also feel for all the cast and crew who have now lost their jobs.

Ffs Roseanne, what were you thinking?

You aren't u four being sad the show in general terms was cancelled, the reviews wee really good but obvs it was the right call to make. They couldn't just kill her off off screen and carry on

I’m happy. I was disappointed it was rebooted in the first place and it’s very obvious she just plays herself in every episode.

They have been trying to cancel this show since she went political. I'm surprised it has gone on this long. I wouldn't be surprised if another network pick it up.

What worries me is that Trump supporters are going to now believe that the show was cancelled because she is a Trump supporter and not because she said something extremely racist about a woman of color who served during obamas administration.

They were even making some really good points in the latest series. It wasn’t particularly pro Trump at all; it was giving differing viewpoints. And the episode with the Muslim neighbours was pretty good in highlighting prejudice.

YABU There is nothing sad about shutting down a vile racist. Everyone on the show has had a career in their own right and if the biggest thing people can be associated with involves giving a platform to a trump supporting bigot then they shouldn't be too surprised its ended the way it has.

Roseanne has always been like this! She’s a huge crazy conspiracy theorist too. My first thought when I heard this was coming back was “will they make her stop posting on Twitter”?

Oh, and yes OP YABU. We cannot tolerate racism, no matter how 'funny' one thinks the perpetrator is as a performer. Especially these days when the guy in the WH supports prejudice, intolerance, and white supremacy. We must resist and push back every chance we get.

It's a shame she has let herself down like this because it was refreshing to have a Trump supporter on a mainstream tv show. A lot of Americans voted for Trump (although the media narrative would lead us to believe he somehow tricked his way in) and might like to see their views represented in tv characters rather than the media pretending every right thinking person in the country voted Hilary.

She brought it on herself. If not being blatantly racist on social media is too difficult then hire someone to handle your publicity. Same goes for every other celebrity.

It doesn’t mean I support what she said. She wasn’t even writing the new show, she just created it and the characters. So it wasn’t a Roseanne Show in the way it used to be. It was really relevant.

I think there is room for debate when one character says appalling things and the entire show they’re in, which is NOT representative of those views, gets cancelled thus affecting so many others. Not just the cast but the crew. And speaking of cast, poor old Michael Fishman who plays DeeJay has been in nothing else since growing up on Roseanne. I bet he could use that paycheck.

There's room for debate in that they could do the show without her, but that's the only debate I can see.
