To be Gutted that Roseanne has been cancelled

I know her tweets were abhorrent but I was loving the reboot. I also feel for all the cast and crew who have now lost their jobs.

Justifiable cancellation but I can understand why some people are upset. Original series was wonderful, especially Sara Gilbert's character.

She is a racist.
She said vile, racist things on social media which was public.
So she was caught and now the network have determined the consequences: they don’t want to employ, pay and air this racist on their air.

Loving the tweet from Sanofi (the makers of Ambien), which says "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication'

I think the best revenge would have been not to cancel the show but to kill off the character.

It's the plastic surgery... that's what's been nagging me. The voice is the same & the sense of humour & delivery all the same. But the plastic surgery means she looks totally different. Lost a lot of appeal for me.

And yes I argue her looks matter b/c she wasn't that pretty in 1980s, she looked like an ordinary person with the ordinary person's physical appearance. Plastic surgery means she now looks like someone who has paid $$$$$ to be sculpted; no longer the working class icon she pretended to be.

.. it was a big deal in the 1980s that she & Goodman were an ordinary "fat" couple. The looks mattered a lot.

She’s an abhorrent woman!! Her views on Palestinians are abhorrent and she’s been vocal about that for years!!! She should never have had the show recommissioned in the basis that she is a racist and she’s finally been held to account. yABU for even starting this thread!!!

She has had a vast amount of plastic surgery over the years, from the very earliest days of Roseanne. In the later shows the opening credits had her changing image and you could see exactly how much work she had had done. She never hid that.

Yes but they glossed over that by saying Roseanne had been writing a book and it was part of the book.

I agree. It’s abhorrent. I did like Sanofi’s statement that pharmaceuticals don’t implant racist thoughts.

She’s accused DJ of throwing her under a bus due to his Tweet expressing his views on her tweet. Accused Sara of distancing herself and said she’s shocked (by Sara’s tweet condemning what Roseanne said). But then back tracks slightly saying she understands why Sara has to distance herself. She’s a car crash.

Retweeted a doctored picture of Whoopi Goldberg - and then deleted it when it was pointed out to her it was fake.

It would be lovely to have a show called Jackie, but I suspect Laurie Metcalf would never do it, as she is a respected stage actress first and foremost with a lot of directors clamouring to work with her. Quite rightly IMO, she was always the standout talent. She doesn't need the gig unlike some of the others who have hardly been seen anywhere else and probably liked having a fat regular paycheck.

@furrydice I do think it’s silly to start a thread about this. The woman is a racist (this is not new, she’s been saying shit like this for years) and she’s finally being held accountable. What is there to be sad at? Why do you need to start a post on it ?
