To ask why we can't have a sex board?

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 20:47

We have one for everything else under the sun after all.!

But every time anyone says anything to do with sex in Chat or AIBU it gets a suspicious response. Couldn't we just have one that's not accessible unless you're a logged in user?

I said that yesterday as most online forums have them.

ClashCityRocker · 28/04/2015 20:48

I have a sex board....no, wait, I have an ironing board.

As you were.

usualsuspect333 · 28/04/2015 20:48

MN has enough pervy trolls as it is, without encouraging more.

Sherlocked221b · 28/04/2015 20:50

I was literally just thinking this. I have a question that I know to post it anywhere else would be really weird/suspicious.

GGabcd · 28/04/2015 20:51

Is this one of those things that shouldn't be googled? A Sex Board?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 28/04/2015 20:51

Oh God, must we?

Why can't sex threads etc just come up as and when. Sort of like in real life

I suppose it would give somewhere to coral the trolls though

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 20:51

Yeah, but it's the internet - kind of the home of perry trolls Grin

Come on though, why can't we just have a little corner to talk about this stuff? You don't need to go there unless you want to!

OP posts:
LikeIcan · 28/04/2015 20:52

What would you talk about?
& yes I'm being serious.

How to give the perfect BJ? that kind of thing?

Christinayangstwistedsister · 28/04/2015 20:52

I thought it was some new device that you and dh wanted

usualsuspect333 · 28/04/2015 20:53

You think only people with genuine questions about sex would post on a sex board?

Have you been on the internet long?

Joyfulldeathsquad · 28/04/2015 20:53

clashGrin

Because it would attract weirdos

mamapants · 28/04/2015 20:54

I have noticed any threads asking about sexual issues are often met with mocking and piss taking. It is a bit of a shame for the poor people asking the question.

Grantaire · 28/04/2015 20:54

I asked five years ago. They said no.

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 20:55

Eh, idk - whatever, really. I remember a thread on here once when someone was saying that they have trouble, er, 'reaching peak' as it were and they were asking if they should let their OH 'off the hook'. And it was interesting because it raised questions of, well why is it all in his power, can't you just x, y, or z, etc etc.

You know, just talking.

OP posts:
paintedfences · 28/04/2015 20:58

No, usual. But trolls are trolls - who gives an arse what they do?

Anyway, if it's only visible for registered users, that'd cut down any accidental stumbling upon, and therefore trolling. And it's an added layer of faff to have to create an account, verify it, and then look for/post on a sex message board.

OP posts:
GGabcd · 28/04/2015 20:59

Why do you need a board especially for 'just talking' about sex.

Why can't you just post in chat and, you know, chat?

HoppityVoosh · 28/04/2015 21:01

Surely if someone had a specific question about sex then relationships would be a good area to post in?

PinkSquash · 28/04/2015 21:01

I think if people are genuine about their issues, rather than the trolls asking for the best ways to get their jollies with their used socks, you can post a sex post anywhere.

Or relationships if you're that way inclined.

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 21:02

Because every time people do, posters assume they're a troll or make jokes GGabcd Smile

OP posts:
GGabcd · 28/04/2015 21:05

Well, that's because this place is overrun with trolls.

Perhaps rather than creating a private board, Mumsnet staff could actually clean up the boards that exist and be more aggressive about all of the trolls that already exist.

parallax80 · 28/04/2015 21:08

Would a sex board help my back pain? I'd campaign for one if so.

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2015 21:08

Yy would be good to get lots of trolls in the one place I guess.

usualsuspect333 · 28/04/2015 21:10

The majority of sex threads on here are started by trolls though.

blue42 · 28/04/2015 21:10

As a new (and male) poster, I do notice a palpable sense of slamming doors when a sex question comes up, but in my short time here I've seen troll posts outweigh genuine ones by about 10:1 when they are sex related. On one hand I think a protected board would make this place more complete, although I expect the prior MNHQ refusal is more due to concerns about administration and moderation resource requirements.

On the other hand, why does MN have to be a one-stop-shop? There are masses of other boards out there to ask questions, many of them specialising in whatever it is you might want to ask.

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 21:11

But that doesn't solve the problem of people creating a sex thread and everyone just assuming it's a troll though. How are MN admins supposed to know who's real and who's not? If someone's at least going to the trouble of posting in a private board that'd make it more likely they were being genuine.
