To ask why we can't have a sex board?

paintedfences · 28/04/2015 20:47

We have one for everything else under the sun after all.!

But every time anyone says anything to do with sex in Chat or AIBU it gets a suspicious response. Couldn't we just have one that's not accessible unless you're a logged in user?

Because any genuine queries about sex are adequately covered by other topics.
It's sad that MNHQ consider that a topic needs a bar on who can post (as if that makes every poster legit -arf!), rather than a robust Moderation Policy and enough Mods to apply it.

TiggyD · 01/05/2015 19:59

We could have a section for reviews of dogging sites, as well as tips, such as: always wear a high visibility jacket and surround car with cones.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 01/05/2015 20:01

I could see that coming tbh, Tiggy.

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2015 20:13

Nice pun Pru. Grin

I reckon thread tidying would be a great job. Using the tumbleweed boards, and the added bonus of if nothing fits in the tumbleweed board in a month or so it can be deleted freeing up space.

Just don't let Maryz have a delete button, I like the festive board!

Where would a Christmas sex thread go?

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 01/05/2015 20:29

Depends who was filling the stocking.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 01/05/2015 20:30

Festive fumblings

usualsuspect333 · 01/05/2015 20:30

There's some perv talking about buying used knickers on another thread.

Maybe we can have a for sale board in the new sex topic.

There is a lack of places to get decent, evidence based, factual information about sex once you leave school.

The need for sex ed doesn't stop at 17 - there's lots of issues about pregnancy/post-partum/menopause/post-injury and illness/post bereavement or divorce, never mind sexual dysfunctions like erection problems and vaginismus.

The troll thing is a problem. Having nowhere to ask "where do I get help for my vaginal dryness that's killing our sex life and our relationship?" is a bigger problem for the people who use mumsnet and already get good advice on here about how to deal with smelly washing machines, cats in the garden, toxic parenting and poorly toddlers - seems odd that you cover a huge range of topics already, but, not sex.

It'd be marvellous.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 01/05/2015 20:32

Has he been here for longer than 6 months, usual?

If so, he's allowed. MNHQ won't hear a word against him, so don't bother Reporting. Bless his little crusty cotton socks for sticking around and helping the hapless wimmin with their sex lives.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 01/05/2015 20:33

Whose coming down your chimney tonight?

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2015 20:33

If I had vaginal dryness and wanted to ask for advice on MN I would post in General Health.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 01/05/2015 20:35

There is a place to ask. It's Mumsnet. Relationships, Chat, 30Days Only, OTBT..........

Why an arbitrary minimum membership? That's not going to edit out the perverts or the abusers.

Oh yes. He could have had a 'Sex Furniture' sub topic all of his very own.

usualsuspect333 · 01/05/2015 20:41

There's another one who has been around for ages who gives me the creeps.

Fairy13 · 01/05/2015 20:44

Would LOVE a TMI board.

Wrt 'do you not have friends to ask' - you could say the same for any thread! Relationship problems? Do you not have friends to talk to?

Really cannot see the problem with this at all.

Then I might finally find out what a snowball is... It's been bugging me since I was 14 and in sex education!

Fairy13 · 01/05/2015 20:47

Maybe now I will finally find out what snowball is, it's been bugging me since I was 14 in sex education.

paintedfences · 01/05/2015 20:51

Well, considering how regularly a poster has popped up on this thread up with a snide, slut-shame-y reply to the mere fecking idea of a dedicated, responsibly run sex topic, I think rule 1 should be no slut-shaming.

If you don't know what slut-shaming is, google it (and 'internalised misogyny').

Oh, he'd be fiiiine, Maryz. Shame on you for thinking he wouldn't Sad Sad Sad.
